Bankruptcy to wipe out civil liabilities seems so bogus. If you want to declare bankruptcy, fine, but they should liquidate literally EVERYTHING you own to make the creditors whole again. I think in these situations, instead of having to pay the customer back (since they never do), the law should just have the police should just force them to do all the work promised and paid for at gun point. The common thread in most of these corrupt contractor stories, is that these guys cannot get other, plain vanilla, "punch a time clock" style jobs. They really do have great difficulty getting hired. He mentioned Home Depot for example. Home Depot participates in the "ban the box" program whereby they do not have any question on their application about previous criminal convictions. However, they will ask about it verbally in the interview and then oftentimes not hire the applicant. So with such difficulty surviving once a felony is on your record, these individuals frequently end up depressed, back on drugs, back inside the bottle, and can't get it together. I don’t why the hell she gave him the money. But she did. He hang out outside for an hour waited till she went inside just for 1 sec and disappeared. When I text him and ask him why did he left. He said he got to pick up a trailer for no reason. Then his trailer got flat tire. That moment I knew she got scammed. ( btw I wasn’t there at the time. I was at work. She called me and told what have happened) Later I found out that he was her friend’s son. I went to police station filled out paperwork. And now they looking for his ars lol. He begged me not to press charges. But I can’t do that. If conned my old mother and she was his mothers friend that means he will/did conned some one else.
Seems every hall of shame person regardless of dozens of criminal convictions have homes, have cars, and have thousands of dollars to play with. Basically I guess be a con artist and live a good life. Robs work is backfiring.
Well people here aren't exactly helping themselves. No one thought to ask for contractors licence or refused him work when he couldn't produce it. Second, every time I've employed a contractor who come onto my land to carry out work I want to sight and take a copy of their ID - 99% of the time that a drivers licence - that a requirement often of a lot of home insurance polices in case there's an accident or something. Running a criminal check on someone isn't hard, and hell if you put this guys name into a basic google search it highly likely so many red flag warnings would show up. The big issue is I suspect the guys quoting massively less than the legit, legal and competent contractors in the area, quote and the clients just get blinded by the so called "savings" they will make and so don't take account of huge risk they are running. Its the old saying, when its too good to be true... it isn't true. A Cheap job isn't very often a good job.
After seeing so many videos like this one of Rob checking these guys out, at this point I think the first question you need to ask to sort out shady contractors in Michigan is "Do you have a valid drivers license?" before you even mention a contracting license.
Rule number one never pay a contractor until the work is done put the money into an escrow account or or had the money put into an account to where the only way he can withdraw that count is by your both of y'all signatures and don't authorize the money to him until the property has been properly inspect it don't pay until is done
What happened is they likely have a legal lien on the guys property (house, vehicles any equipment) so if he try to transfer, sell or mortgage it the debt has to be settled first. I'm pretty sure one of the documents shown with $129k figure was an approved lien issued against the guy. There a difference between not having any physical contact and getting the legal systems to enforce a debt. The people owed the large amount have done everything correctly by look of it.
hey rob ... you should (at the end of piece) ASK these fine upstanding service providers this ... "hey mr. contractorMan ... when was the LAST time you were wrong?" 🤔

Then his trailer got flat tire. That moment I knew she got scammed. ( btw I wasn’t there at the time. I was at work. She called me and told what have happened)
Later I found out that he was her friend’s son. I went to police station filled out paperwork. And now they looking for his ars lol. He begged me not to press charges. But I can’t do that. If conned my old mother and she was his mothers friend that means he will/did conned some one else.
I hope they lock that guy up for a long time! Great job Rob!
They never have a valid driver's license!
I love this news guy
Ten felony and not in jail white privilege here
After seeing so many videos like this one of Rob checking these guys out, at this point I think the first question you need to ask to sort out shady contractors in Michigan is "Do you have a valid drivers license?" before you even mention a contracting license.
You can’t make this💩 up🤭😆🤣
Never pay before the work is complete 10% down half when half complete final payment when complete and all the work when you are satisfied
IF HES A FELON HOW COME HE HAS GUNS.?
Hell can' t wait him
Does anyone from Detroit have a driver's license ?
Rule number one never pay a contractor until the work is done put the money into an escrow account or or had the money put into an account to where the only way he can withdraw that count is by your both of y'all signatures and don't authorize the money to him until the property has been properly inspect it don't pay until is done
I'm canadian. in Alberta. I love this guy. Good work hall of shame. We have pricks like this in Canada too, eh! Sorry!
how did i miss this? 8 months?!
Who pays all that money before the work is done? People are so stupid.
The money is going somewhere and it's definitely not on material because I didn't see any excess. He's doing drugs with the money.
Don't do drugs kids.
They gave him $129K now want nothing to do with him.
Nick: Thanks, just what I wanted to hear.
Just UNBELIEVABLE the gullibility.
Hopefully Home Depot won't hire him. Otherwise, he will wreck most of their departments.
Home Depot will hire anyone
Amazing, i hired a guy on my lake that ended up being a crook
Rob Wolchek, Catfish for Contractors! Rob & co 2024!
So you can just scam people and then file bankruptcy? Then what
So I can trust absolutely no contractor, plumber, salesman, or used car dealer in the greater Detroit area.
WHY PUT THESE PEOPLE IN PRISON FOR FRAUD NOW
29000 for a whole sunroom? Nah lol
hey rob ...
you should (at the end of piece) ASK these fine upstanding service providers this ...
"hey mr. contractorMan ... when was the LAST time you were wrong?"
🤔
So, whatever happen to him? Any jail time?
@Rachel Boyle Shame on the justice system!
Rob needs too come too Louisiana. Clean up the bad car lot. And Facebook stuff.
The guy is a rip-off artist but that doesn't excuse customers allowing themselves to be ripped off like this. Here's how I did it for 40 years successfully. The customer pays 25% when I show up with a substantial amount of the materials and Manpower. The customer pays 25% when the job is 50% complete. The customer pays 40% upon completion. 10% is held in escrow until both parties sign off. If your contractor cannot perform to this standard don't hire him. Never pay in advance for services not yet rendered!. Stop getting yourself ripped off oh, it makes it really hard on honest contractors.
Say hi to the dogs Rob, wtf. Your beef isn’t with them.
whats the point on going to court and winning a judgement if the other person is still not gonna pay. the courts should have access to your bank account and award the money to the winning party, and if that person doesnt have the money the court can sell ur assets to cover the cost
where the money go make him sell his stuff and try a cardboard box home dog will love it
How is being a dweeb over guns a dark side lmao
Pay only in 25% chunks. Pay weekly.
He burned through all of their money. Hope he gets help.
What a joke of a guy . N I said that because he’s not a contractor
Dude hasn’t been sober 8 hours stop lying
Trusted him cause hes a white guy. 😂😂😂
That's EXACTLY what happened lol. Got their heads slapped off.
🤦🏻 Cameras installed by wedging deck screws around them... 🤡
How can he have guns as felon
I wonder who he stole the $1300.00 from that he paid the homeowners with???
Charlie lookin rough
i feel bad for the dogs
I hate that I enjoy these "hall of shame" segments so much. Bottom line....people were scammed. At least FOX 2 puts these a-holes on blast.
6:30 even if it wqs one of his guys hes responsible for his employees actions
SOBER are you kidding drunks do better work than him
