Again, huwag na po natin itanong kung ilang kilometers ang full charge nito. Hindi po ito EV and hindi din po ito tatakbo kung hindi tatakbo yung generator/engine niya. Para saan yung battery? It is a small battery and can almost be considered more like a power capacitor for those instant high power and torque delivery pag sinagad niyo accelerator. In the end, same lang ito sa other gasoline vehicles though yung gasoline engine niya acts more like an electric generator and it mostly runs on very low rpm hence the high kilometers per liter rating. Tumataas lang ang engine RPM pag na enough yung voltage/wattage stored in the battery packs. Take note din na 5yrs lang warranty ng battery packs niya. So expect resale value to dive if you are planning to sell it after 5yrs of ownership.
Correction, it can run on full electric even without the ICE turned on. I ran up to around 70kph before the ICE turned on again at 75% battery charge. It’s also not the same as other gasoline engines and it does not in fact run at a low rpm. Its idle is at around 1400 which is higher than normal idling. But you are correct about when it needs power the engine revs higher to compensate with the charge loss during hard acceleration. Also someone tested sagad on our circle. The battery alone can run up to 10km on the highway (75% to 0%). That’s probably around 3-5kms on a normal usage.
Ay salamat naman so safe estimate in real world usage is it can run 7 to 8kms on a full charge battery? Kaya pala Nissan wouldn't publish the range on a full charge. Sayang din na mataas RPM ng genset engine niya. It could probably run at a slighlty lower rpm to save more fuel?
@@Bangbangboom51 i’m guessing kaya high rpm para mabilis din mag charge ang batt and to keep the system at normal running temp. The Kicks is using the same battery that the Nissan Leaf uses when it was launched in 2011. I know a few owners of Nissan Leafs and the battery is still pretty much the same (probably a bit less than 100% of course) after using for 11 years already. So let that sink in to you for a moment.
@@guessassters this is good news kasi im planning to get the VL. However some comments I read sa US statistics, 3 to 5 yrs lang battery ng leaf. Thats why im a bit worried if I will push it thru or not. Please enlighten me po. Thanks
@louie villacarlos take into consideration that the Leaf is pure EV than the Kicks, so charging the battery of the Leaf requires you to plug it in which makes battery degrading faster than charging it with an ICE thru Series Hybrid Power (which the Kicks uses) Lithium Ion Car Batteries tend to have a lifespan of 8-10 years or even more depending on how you use it.
The interior is a problem. As the part of the car where you will be spending the vast majority of your time, the interior is very disappointing, especially at the price range Nissan is asking for. Heck for the amount of money Nissan is asking for the top trim, you could stretch a bit and get a hybrid Mazda 3 that not only is fun to drive but also has an incredible interior.
That is a warped assessment of the price. Mazda's hybrids are just mild hybrids and are no way comparable to Nissan's e-Power tech. Nissan's current variants are rightly priced for what you get with e-Power onboard. You can wish for a higher trim model (like they have in Thailand with the Autech version) but expect it to have a higher price point.
@The Trusty Sidekick I just wanted to clarify that comparing e-Power and Mazda's mild hybrid is not teally an apples to apples comparison thus your assessment on the Nissan's value proposition is not spot on. Just wanted to point that out so other prospective buyers will not be misled with that comparison. The interiors of the Mazda are better, so if you value that more, then go get the Mazda.
