Im a 40 year old white guy born and raised in Philly...This guy was such a treat to watch from day one...amazing skill and talent that will never be duplicated...EVER. The best part of being a fan of Allen Iverson is knowing he gave 100% on the court...day in and day out...thats a Philly fan pre-requisite for any player from any sport to be loved in Philly...another thing that I love about the ANSWER...is that he never changed who he was and is...some people, especially white people hated the way Iverson wore his hair, the way he talked...the way he practiced(lololol)...etc...etc. But fuck all that. I want someone to be themselves...100% real. And thats exactly what AI did and still does. Big Homie is now a Hall of Famer...and like Frankie Sinatra said...he did it his way!!!...dont hate, congratulate.
I remember how AI attracted the 11-year-old me to basketball in 2001 and I have been rooting for him since then. The passion and fire in his eyes still give me goosebumps.
same here I had little to no interest in basketball until AI came along. Plus I was short and he showed that you dont gotta be tall to be a great ball player. But then my dickhead coach cut only 2 people from our highschool team- the only 2 people ever cut from the 7th grade team in the history of that school (because they would just let anyone make it, tryouts were a formality they wanted kids to have fun) and I was ONE of the people cut. Lmfao. Turned me off basketball forever. Dickhead coulda at least let me ride the pine lmao
Simply put. The lil guy was hard to guard. Allen "Pound 4 Pound" Iverson. Pound 4 Pound the quickest, Pound 4 Pound the toughest, Pound 4 Pound the most talented in any given game.
@@jeromemccollom936 --Fortunately for AI and the sixers (unfortunately for guys like you) his game was more than just midrange jumpers. Won't mention all his accolades. Just say 1st ballot HOF.
Awsome! After years see his best career plays. When I was 12-14 (99-2001) and started to play basketball and streetball, Allen was my favourite basketball player. My friends cheered for Vince Carter, Kobe Bryant and T-Mac. Not me. I love Philadelphia and A.I. I was same tall and I would never have believed that so small man may be so good in NBA games. Huge ball movements, magic reverse jams, how straight attacked the hoop from PG and SG positions, save the loose balls from outline, stolen balls, straight assists, backward jumpshots, perfect anckle brakes, follow of teammates, assists behind the back, assists to alley - oops and making alley - oops in reverse jams or dunks, three point shoots from 0° and less, how grab the balls, read the game.... and more. I loved his movement on the court. Enhance my play style and i always try to copy your moves. I think that i'm not the only one. Happy birthday A.I. Allen is same as God for me. God of basketball.
I’m only 14 and I found out about him when I was 9, I started to watch highlights of him and started to love watching him play, he’s my favorite player of all time, too bad I’m too young to have watched him in his prime
They don't play like that anymore either, it's all 3 pointers today. Not even sure who today would compare, I guess Westbrook would be closest. Curry has some handles that might compare but he doesn't drive to the hoop with it, just gets space and shoots a 3 usually.
@@sevendst19 Im convinced they force players to hold back. Its so scripted now imo. For example you see a star player have a shitty game, then its like they give them the "OK" to go Hard in one game, then they get a ton of points. Its so obvious to me.. Literally holding players back and only letting them go full throttle at certain times.... Its like the WWF now...
The nastiest little man in the game. Out spoken for the community and played with passion. The real GOAT. I know he didn't win a Championship but, was carrying every team he played on without practice. Forget Jordan.
This video shows the greatness of Michael Jordan. Out of all the crazy acrobatic plays and last second buzzer beaters that AI had. The one that is chosen as the greatest is only because he was able to show up the GOAT. I don’t think the younger generation can understand how great Jordan was. Not only the greatest player ever but in my opinion the biggest sports ICON in history
terrorofsesameST even though he had somewhat of unmemorable last couple of years, he was never guardable throughout his career from the rookie season until his retirement.

Indeed my dude but I refuse to argue with young dudes that know no better. Kyrie and Steph have good handles but A.I. had it on a string nobody dribbled the ball as effortlessly as he did. He didn't need 5 or 6 dribbles and nobody made it come back like him. On top of that he brought that And 1/tricky dribbling to the league. He and Stephon Marbury another great ball handler were the Kyrie and Steph of their time, the league's new breed...

That was a great show. My all-time fave, AI... Well, honestly, I'm also a Jordan fan. Growin up in the 90s though, I started copying Iverson's moves in the playground. It was only when I got a lil older that I started religiously copying Jordan's moves, cuz they're so damn effective! Jordan didn't start doin' fadeaways as his go-to move until he was in his 30s or somethin'. I started fadin' away when I was 19! That puts me light years ahead of Jordan LOL /GK

Absolutely one of my all time favorites and pound for pound one of the best ball players to ever step on an NBA court.
I don't know what was better, his heart, his skills, or his determination.
his below average shooting percentage that is his best.
Now this is what a video about top career highlights should be. Well done, much better than the NBA's top ten career videos.
40 plays to commemorate AI on his 40th Thanks Penny!
Watched countless AI highlights here, this is a Fresh reel (mixed with the classics) Good Job!
This man got hit in his face, had NO TYPE OF CALL, and hit a 3 in front of the ref. Lol nothin like him I swear
That face hit was worth 9 Harden fouls.
