- it's done. it's FINALLY DONE AHHHHH
I could literally scream the beast has FINALLY been completed!! I sure hope y'all like this one!
Not really sure where to begin to be honest uh... This project was incredibly difficult to get together, not because of the actual animation or anything, but because the technical errors that happened through out.
Firstly, my painting software I use to make backgrounds, Medibang Paint thought that it'd be a WONDERFUL idea to create a new plan for exporting and saving my drawings, which ended up with all of my previous works (including the background for this project) now completely erased from my device! So that was fun to deal with! Luckily I was able to salvage some of them and the ending product still looked pretty good.
AND THEN Flipaclip decided it was time to get rid of some previous projects to make room for more storage :D so I could no longer access my previous files (anything before got corrupted and so I couldn't go back to edit them or replay them) Luckily they had already been exported into videos so I was still able to piece them together. Still a spectacular pain in the backside though.
YET DESPITE ALL THAT We kept up our determination, went through pain and suffering and IT PAID OFF!
I've never animated fire before this. I'm pretty damn happy with that lmao
Also I'd like to just shine some light on another animator that needs absolutely no introduction because practically everyone in the warriors community know who they are: Nifty Senpai! To speed up the background process I took a lot of inspiration from their backgrounds in the Fourth Apprentice, particularly for the thunderclan camp.

Without that I'd truly be lost haha.
Aight so with all that out of the way I can talk about the content of this. Ashfur is a great warriors villain, because he has different motive to most of the other villains. With cats like Tigerstar, Brokenstar, Hawkfrost and Thistleclaw...? (we don't talk about Spottedleafs heart) all doing their evil deeds out of ambition for power, Ashfur never wanted that. He just wanted Squirrelflight, and when that didn't work out, he wanted her to suffer! I love his alliance with Hawkfrost as well. I can just imagine the meeting being similar to the Hawkeye and Black widow "you shouldn't be here" "neither should you" at the lake lmao.
Also I loved his arc in the power of three series and that fire scene still gives me shivers. Damn power of three had really good antagonists despite how goddamn slow it is
SPOILER TERRITORY FOR THE BROKEN CODE
Then we saw him AGAIN in the broken code. I'll be honest, when I found out that the imposter was Ashfur, I was.... kind of disappointed...? I mean, everyone called it and idk a deep side of me wanted the Erin's to just prove everyone wrong and pull out another villain or something I don't know haha. But the more I found out, the more I loved it. It made Ashfur into an already amazing villain into probably one of the best villains warriors has to offer! I mean it took another cat we shall not name in case of spoilers to literally sacrifice themselves in order to get rid of him! THAT is a problematic cat!
Fun Fact: The song I used, The Killing Kind is actually much much longer than this. It's about 6 minutes in total and to be honest, this project already took 2 months I don't wanna add to it and potentially worsen it I'm happy the way it is. But if I was to carry on and do the whole song, I would TOTALLY add Ashfur possessing Bramblestar and all the chaos that happens in the Broken code.
The only reason I didn't dedicate the song to prominently the broken code is because I actually haven't read any of the books, I'm just going off what the fandom has been saying. For me to make an AMV on it would be inconsistent.
If you're reading down this far, I just want to say that I can't thank you enough for being her to support my channel. To get to 2 thousand subscribers is absolutely insane and it still feels like such an amazing dream to me. My goal was to express my passion for art and animation and I'm so glad that I'm able to do that here. Thank you to everyone who liked, commented, shared, or even just viewed my content. I love how we see each of the three take different approaches to deal with Ashfur post-fire scene in Power of Three.
Jayfeather tries to scare Ashfur through dreams
Lionblaze tries to appeal to Ashfur's sense of the Warrior Code
Meanwhile, Hollyleaf gets the drop on Ashfur, he presumably tries to plead how he's just exacting justice and Hollyleaf is like "Yeah, no, you tried to kill us and now are set on ruining our lives, no negotiation, YOU DIE!"
The others beat around the bush, hoping Ashfur has some shred of good they can use, but Hollyleaf just takes decisive action and given how Ashfur turned out in Broken Code...I know Hollyleaf felt regretful for killing him, but she was 100% justified.
I love how at the beginning it just seemed as if he was mad and upset at being rejected and didn’t know how to handle how mad and jealous he was, so he planned the fox trap with hawkfrost to get back at her. Then after the three came, he got obsessed with her and went out of his way to try to harm squirrely after that.
I love how you have Cloudtail and Ferncloud looking at him in concern at 0:47 and 1:24 because they are his siblings (Cloudtail is foster I know but they still grew up with the same mother).
Ash may have liked Squirrel at some point but in the end it turned into a super unhealthy obsession
My gosh, was ashfur ever happy in his lifetime, like the little time he had with squirrelly i guess. Anyway, beautiful work, well done.
I think Ashfur was obsessive, I think both he and brambleclaw are pretty bad options. Though I do like Ashfur more. Not like Emotionally abusive Bramblestar

@@julianalipira2991 she was a good partner. Both males were bad though. Ashfur was seen as condescending and controlling, always bringing up her kittypet heritage. And brambleclaw was not only emotionally abusive, but had a toxic power play in the relationship (as he was deputy). The only reason that Squirrel never told him about the kits was that she didn't trust Brambleclaw because he always talked down to her. She did what she could so her and her kids could remain safe. Like an ABUSE victim would
Hawkfrost’s lip sync in his first appearance was gorgeous, and your backgrounds are so pretty!! All AMV elements are so smooth and pretty AHH. Mega respect for making a video so long

WOW this is insanely good, I’m extremely impressed at the effort and time you spent on this. When I saw the title, I was just expecting a simple PMV, but you went all out and actually animated certain parts, and were able to capture “action” scenes very well. I loveeee the designs you made for the characters as well!!! Overall, amazing job!! Earned a new subscriber!

Ferncloud and Cloudtail are so underrated when thinking about the relationships Ashfur had with other cats. Glad you spotted it! :)

Okay that aside tho, the tweening in this is absolutely extraordinary, it flows SO WELL, like I geniuanely love it- And the way you protrayed Ashfur in this is just okijuhgf I really like to see content that shows him in a more sympathetic light, I think his character overall has a lot of potential when it comes to exploring his feelings and emotional struggles opiuhygftd Amazing work as always!

This is so amazing and underrated!! Your art style is so satisfying and the animation is so fluid!! Your character designs are perfect, and I adore all the little details like how Ashfur noticed Brambleclaw’s DF training and how his siblings were worried about him. I also love that you actually showed how Ashfur and Squilf were in fact dating for a bit, most works just skim over that and make him seem like he was pursuing her for no reason lol, the detail of Ash being genuinely scared in the fire (he probably WOULD be, mans still has the memories of being a young apprentice during the fire in the first arc) until he sees the three and has his idea in the spur of the moment is neat too!!! And the death scene was so intense!! Oh man I’m just so in love with this whole thing

the only thing i dislike is the use of ear feathers on jayfeather, but every other bit of this is absolutely gorgeous!!
it's one of my favourite songs too I had to animate it the moment I heard it haha. Thank you for the feedback! I'll keep that in mind when drawing Jays feathers again, I may play around with the positioning a little :)

I know people are gonna be like, ‘WHAT?’ When I say this but, poor Ash’Fur tbh. He never seemed to have happy moments, I feel like his move to burn the forest was more then just a act of love. Probably hare and revenge too.
OOO This is absolutely gorgeous PMV ♥ I was genuinely surprised by how much animated content this included as I was solely anticipating a fully PMVed video, however, that's absolutely not a bad thing!^^ The visuals are gorgeous! I absolutely love your pacing throughout this entire piece~ Every beat and scene changes work SO WELL and I love how it all works together :3 Especially the fire scene! The colors work very well together and you have managed to blend the characters very well into their surroundings ^^ The designs you have for the characters are sole eye-candy and the way you draw expressions is outstanding

God I get so excited whenever people use a Marianas Trench song for a PMV, AMV, MAP etc because their music is fantastic. The amount of effort you put into this is amazing! Holy cow, this is insane!! Same thing as some of the other comments; I thought this was just going to be like a “normal” PMV, but the work you put into this! This is amazing! Also, this song fits PERFECTLY this this PMV!
I love this so freakin' much from the artwork to the music and got stupid excited when I saw what the song was- then really upset when it cuts off at the end. x'D However I don't blame you, the entire song is pretty long and I imagine it'd be a pain animating the whole thing. I haven't read the newest books but I knew Ashfur's story had been continued, and so I briefly thought you were going to delve into that until the video ended and my brain went, "WHAT?! NO- BUT THERE'S MORE MUSIC!!"

This is a really good map... Except for one thing. The original 3 were on a BRANCH and Squirrelflight was exhausted. She didn't have the energy to stand and block his path, or do the stuff she did.

I love this map, the expressions convey more of the emotion I think Ashfur should've been feeling in the books.
Edit: What I mean by this is Ashfur seems like less of the psychotic person he was in the books and more of the concerned friend who Squilf rejected in favor of a abusive person, of course still being slightly, erm, insane??? I especially think this conveys with the fear and concern his expression conveys when his sees the wound appear on Brambleclaw.
