I’m currently contemplating purchasing the XC90 and I’m very interested in tech which will help me drive. I’m disabled, so this will help me massively. There seems to be a lot of negative comments about this feature, but I think it’s brilliant. I have a saying, “let the tech do the work for you” that’s what it’s there for. Thumbs up to this video, extremely helpful and very well demonstrated. Thank you. - Neil (UK).
Great demo Alton and very much appreciated. I just purchased a 2021 S60 T6 Inscription and it has the Park Assist Pilot. I haven’t tried the park assist yet (I’ve only had the car for a few days) but must admit, I’ve been a little scared to try it. After watching your video, I plan to try it out the next time I’m out and about.
Can you use this feature in a tandem garage? Can it detect walls and park or does it need cars on either sides? Also what if you are but farther from the parking spot, can you stop and tell it to park or does the car have to detect the spot itself and then only takes over ?
This is the most comprehensive description I've seen so far. The system is quite slow and limited, and requires too many actions on driver's part to be really useful. And since it's bound not to be used often, the driver is likely to not trust/fumble when attempting to use it. It needs to be fully automated and provide more visual feedback IMHO.
@AltonCrawford omg, why though? Therr is no way, I am using this option most pf the time since here in germany parking spots are kinda tight and this helps alot.. damn volvo why do this 🤔
That system sucks. No wonder nobody is using it. I’m planning to switch my E-Class All-Terrain to XC60 T8, but that feature looks to be totally useless in a Volvo. In Merc it’s actually fairly nice system. All you have to do in a Merc is to switch to reverse when the system finds a parking spot and let the car do its thing.
Volvo is just trying to keep the driver involved and help them, instead of taking over for them completely. It's probably less stressful that way for a lot of people. In a car that does it all for you, when it fails and hits somebody else's car, you're still going to be to blame legally anyway. For that reason, it's best to actually be involved and paying attention. It's pretty much like the lane keeping feature, which will actually maintain your lane all by itself, but if you don't keep at least one hand on the wheel, it will bitch at you.

Just remember, it is up to you to control the speed of the automobile.
Clever but that takes too long. That said their is so much to love about the XC90. it’s absolutely my favorite car.
5:31 thanks for letting us know not to hit the vehicles
Off topic but wow those wool woven seats are awesome.
It's a European thing. Pet friendly. Animal rights.
Great option helping a lot thank you Volvo
Thank you.
Great demo

2024 XC90 and fully loaded and no "PILOT PARKING ASSISTANT" feature available? Perhaps hidden somewhere?
Have the new XC40 UltraB4 and it doesn’t have this either! Why have they dropped this?
Just changed my 330e to an XC60 T8 Ultra and it doesn't appear to have auto park. Didn't realise it didn't have it.

A lot of effort for a simple maneuver
Will this work in an empty parking spot or does it need to use the other cars to judge the spacing?
I tried in an empty space and the car told me to park myself 🤣 so I assume it needs the other cars to figure it out.
The Volvo will need two autos to park perpendicular or parallel.
Why would u need help in empty space ? U can do that urself V easily
Does the 2020 XC90 R design have this feature…can’t find it on my South African purchased Volvo….?
It’s part of the advanced package
My s60 also has this feature
Yes! Volvo done away with the feature for 2023 & 2024
@AltonCrawford what you mean? My is 2021 and has this
This is no longer an option for 2023, 2024
@AltonCrawford omg, why though? Therr is no way, I am using this option most pf the time since here in germany parking spots are kinda tight and this helps alot.. damn volvo why do this 🤔
I had a 2019 GMC with the park assist and never once used it.
Don't worry you are not the only 1. Volvo has since disconnected it
I have a new 2025 XC40 and this feature is no longer there
Like he said at 12:00 it was likely removed because not a lot of people utilized it. It was removed in 2023

Such feature is for people that cannot park, like most women :)

@@TheRed14Devilwhat does woman gotta do w this? In fact men r the ones who don’t know how to park. Seen many who did it stupidly
Silly, if you can't even park your car you should be riding a bicycle.
Christopher - You have to remember most adults have rode a bicycle in 10 to 20 years. Parking it would be a challenge for them as well
Too complicated
