I was riding in the car in Cranberry Township at about 11 am, this morning, and the lake effect band coming from Ohio was so intense that you couldn't see more than about 200 ft in front of your vehicle if that. It was wild. I haven't seen a snow squal of that intensity in the Cranberry/Mars area since at least 3 years ago, maybe longer. I have obviously seen worse in the Rockies and on Lake Erie, but the snow was falling at over an inch per hour rate, which is not too common around here. It didn't stay that heavy for very long, but it was impressive.
"the city said this snow was unexpected".... yeah, it was expected, if you paid attention to the national weather service. they warned that snow squalls would be an issue throughout the day.
It’s not the snow, it’s the ice. And the cheap “All-season” tires automakers put on cars today. Then again, in the 70’s and 80’s we had no traction or stability control to rely on, which meant we were actually better drivers. WE were the traction/stability controllers.

Stay home that's how you fix the problem!
Some people still have to work. Not everyone can work from home.
