- Goonj Uthi Shehnai, 1959
Director: Vijay Bhatt
Music Director: Vasant Desai
Lyrics: Bharat Vyas
Playback: Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Geeta Dutt
Cast: Rajendra Kumar, Ameeta, Anita Guha, Ulhas, I.S. Johar, Leela Mishra, Manmohan Krishan, Krishna Kumari, Prem Dhawan
English translation included. It seems kind of rough sometimes, and often a lot of words are spoken for a short translation, so I think some is left out.
The Encyclopedia Of Indian Cinema says this about the film:
A successful romance featuring a classical
shehnai musician. Kishen (R. Kumar) is a
musical prodigy in love with Gopi (Ameeta).
Their union is opposed by Gopi’s widowed
mother Jamuna (Mishra) and by Kishen’s
adopted music teacher Raghunath (Ulhas)
whose daughter Ramkali (Guha) secretly loves
the musician. Later, when Kishen is a famous
radio musician, his benefactor Shekhar
(Bhansali) marries Gopi. In several scenes, the
love-stricken Kishen vows never again to play
the instrument with which he had wooed Gopi
and he drowns his sorrows in alcohol. The
film’s main asset is the extensive use of the
shehnai instrument, performed in playback by
20th C. India’s best-known shehnai maestro,
Bismillah Khan. In order to try to match the
music’s classical authenticity, an attempt was
made to present the story as a medieval
Sanskrit love legend

Bahut hi jayada achhi movie
To be watched
Good movie. WA, USA.
Back on this channel after almost a year, happy to find new movies.
Had heard a lot about this movie, but the story turned out to be meh, typical predictable storyline, i found it to a mix of baiju bawra and devdas (not a surprise given Vijay bhatt is the director).
The shehnai parts were truly great but the Songs were not so memorable - atleast for me.
Ameeta was a cutie, tho limited in range however had good screen presence, wonder why she did not get much lead roles as compared to rajendra Kumar who catapulted to being a A list actor and star especially after this movie.
P.s - the ads in the initial 30 mins were too distracting, with some appearing almost every 5-10mins but who am i to complain if we get such great prints of B/W movies.
Excellent print! Many thanks, Tommy. This movie has been long awaited.
hindi filim parbat pleas released.

Vow ! wonderful print ! all the songs are hit but the movie available till date has never been so so clear ! thanks once again for your hard work ! it looks as good as new ! doesn't look like an old movie at all ! thank you once again sir !
I think the cc problem may not have been caused by you but it is caused by YT’s upgraded App. On my iPad and TV every time there is a commercial break the movie returns in the left hand top corner in a small frame and only after I get out of the movie and get back again, I see the movie in full frame. This is happening to everything that I watch on YT.
Thanks for checking as I think you don't ordinarily watch Hindi films with English subtitles. Since yours is the second report I've had, I decided to check also. I don't usually watch the films on my television, but opened the UA-cam app on my Vizio television, searched for the film, began playing it and turned on the subtitles. I went to different places in the film and waited for ads, and the subs always resumed after the ads. So, maybe it's a problem with only certain 'devices'. I just don't know. It's true that when I first uploaded the subs to UA-cam, it said there was an error and wanted to know if I wanted to upload them anyway. As I had never heard of any problems with any subs, I said okay. And then I got the report. So, I had a subtitling program check for errors and it found a couple. I then uploaded the edited version and no errors were reported this time. But Skinny Dee and now you report the problem still exists. So I'm stumped. Maybe do me a favor and check for the problem when I upload my next film, a Bengali one. Thanks.
@@tommydan55 Sure, I will check your next upload.
@@tommydan55 I checked the Bengali movie and did not see any problem.
@@ashok48393 Curiouser and curiouser. Thanks for checking. I appreciate it.

Plzz upload black and white hindi movies
Ur print is very good iwant to watch more movies
I think there are only two color movies in the whole channel. Black and white is what we do. But Bengali and Tamil also, along with Hindi.
@@shipraagarwal9027 Thank you! So you've seen them all already? I'll just have to work faster then.
It seemed to be a nice movie but there are no English subtitles.
Is the "CC" button pressed? They're working fine for me.
Yeah, Libby Libby Libby Libby's right. You have to press the 'CC' button, a red line appears under it and the subs show up.
@@tommydan55
I pressed the Close Caption but everytime an advertisement comes on the subtitles stopped and when I pressed CC again it says there're no subtitles for this video.
@@skinnydee1886 Very strange. Never heard of that before. Are you watching on a computer or something else? Because, off hand, I'd say it's not a UA-cam problem but the problem of whatever player is being used to play it. But there's not enough information yet, to say for sure.
@@tommydan55
I forward all movies that are on UA-cam, to my TV. I never watched UA-cam on my phone but always on my TV.
@tommydan55 - hi can you pls add Raj Kapoor films as well. You have very good taste & collections of classics. Pls consider my request
