My top 10 always changes but today: 10. Frosthaven 9. On Tour 8. Cthulu Death May Die 7. Kingdominoe 6. Catan 5. Veiled Fait 4. Vindication 3. Massive Darkness 2 2. Mage Knight 1. Xia
Alot of games on that list that we need to play. Frosthaven, Cthulhu Death May Die, and Mage Knight are on our table of opportunity (or soon will be). Kingdomino is a blast. Xia and Vindication are both owned by friends we game with so sooner or later we'll see them on the table. Overall, solid list!!! Thanks for sharing.
10. Werewords 9. Clank 8. Fox in the Forest 7. Splender Duel 6. Scythe 5. Wyrmspan 4. Heat 3. Dwellings of Eldervale (Andromeda's Edge might go here with more play throughs) 2. Tyrants of the Underdark 1. Dune Imperium (with rise of ix)
That's a great list. Dune Imperium is such a great game. We still need to experience Fox in the Forest, but all of the other games we have definitely played and had a really good time playing. Thank you for sharing!!!
Wow, I have never watched any of your videos but this just popped up so I had to take a peek. Conseys list is scarily close to mine lol. I have a few more Stonmaier games on my list (particularly Scythe). I am on the wait as you are for the latest Cthulhu Wars. I encourage you to try glorantha as well. Very similar with a few other mechanice from Sandy thrown in, like Cthulhu wars meets Ankh. I have Arkham horror(and eldrich) as well as Death may die too. But great lists.
Thank you! We love alot of Stonemaier Games and titles like Tapestry and Scythe are definitely into the top 50. We cleared out our Arkham Horror (2nd Ed) stuff recently. Mansions of Madness 2e is currently getting painted up though. Of course, we really like the Arkham Horror card game and are waiting for our copy of Death May Die to arrive from CMON's latest Kickstarter for that game.
You're welcome! There are so many games out there that we also hear about games that we haven't actually heard anything about before. What games do you like most?
@@burgek1 We've played Too Many Bones and it had some neat mechanics, but it was at a convention. I don't know if it was the way it was taught or as loud as it was in the room, but I think it took away from some of the enjoyment of the game. It's on the to be played again list for sure!
We watched your top ten and then played Dice Forge at Gen Con based on your review. We both really liked it a lot. Definitely something we can play with friends, too!
Top ten Rivals for Catan Castles of Burgundy Eldritch Horror Arkham Horror(when theres Time) Betrayal at house on the hill Gloomhaven Dungeon Quest Magic Realm (have been playing this since the 80s) Munchkin Descent Good list guys.
Yes. It's in our collection. Gia Project is a great game, and probably mechanically better than Terra Mystica. TM, for Conesy, wins out for it's theme and art.
Those TMs are some good #1s. Terra Mars is my #5, Terra Mystica is my #9 (Gaia beats it out for me). Twilight Imperium, Gloomhaven, On Mars are my 1,2,3.
Thanks for sharing! All very good games. A lot of people put Gaia over Terra Mystica. TI didn't make our cut largely due to the challenges of tabling it (play time). Gloomhaven we love as well, but was just outside both our 10s. On Mars is good too, but seems to just never get tabled.
Fire and Ice is a must buy. New maps and factions are awesome. The updated passing mechanism is also something I always use. Merchants is an expansion I like, but is nice to have. It really adds more emphasis to the shipping mechanics.
I have a huge collection, mostly from the 80's but with a few new games (including Sentinels), and honestly if I were to make a top x OF ALL TIME, the only modern(ish) game on it would be Cards Against Humanity. The Empire Builder ("crayon train") games would be on it, and perhaps the original SJG Illuminati and Nuke War.
Nothing wrong with that. We wish we had more titles from the 80s, but all of those games were lost over various moves. If only I would have known. ~Conesy
@@wiscodice_main Yeah, every one of them is out of print now. You can find some of the "crayon games" (whiteboard markers work great for them) used online for well north of $100
We have On Mars, which is a good game. I find it hard to table due to having to relearn it and then extended teach. Since it's so hard to table it didn't make the list. We did back Inventions and looking forward to that. Vinhos is a good game too, but we don't own it.
@@wiscodice_main Thanks for the response. I was thinking of getting either Vinhos, the Gallerist, Kanban EV or Lisboa. I played Lisboa twice and enjoyed it, though it's a bit rules heavy so I'm not sure how well I'll be able to teach my wife, especially since English is not her first language and I've not learned her first or second spoken languages yet (Portuguese and Spanish). I did find a Portugues translation of the rules, but she's a visual learner and learns better by doing than reading instructions. The heaviest games I've been able to teach her so far are Gaia Project and Feast for Odin, and even those were bit of a beast to teach with our semi-language barrier, so not sure how Lisboa would fare.
@@The-Eric-Cartman Certainly with any Lacerda game there's a pretty steep learning curve on top of the language barrier. He's got some great designs for games out there, but I think it's just as important if your wife is your primary opponent is to find games that you both mutually enjoy. When Suzanne and I play games we often find that games that are fast to set up and tear down are the games we pick up and play more often. Of course, everyone has different opinions on what games interest them, but don't be afraid to feel like you have to play the most complex games with your wife.
@@wiscodice_main Thanks! My wife and I enjoy heavy games because it makes us think more and forces us to communicate in a higher level, which gives us both a sense of satisfaction when we've conquered some of the more difficult to learn games. It's a little strange and hard to explain, lol. We both got a massive sense of satisfaction from learning Brass Birmingham together and learning strategies on our own. She started reading the Spanish rules for Kanban EV (couldn't find it in Portuguese surprisingly), and we're thinking of giving that one a go. I've been wanting to start collecting his games after playing On Mars solo.
@@The-Eric-Cartman That's the really special part of this hobby, finding and having a great time with whatever games you choose to play. We don't have Brass Birmingham in our collection, but we do have Brass Lancanshire which we really like. I honestly don't know why that hasn't been to the table more because it is such a good game. Probably has to do with the over 700 titles in our collection right now. LOL. We would love to hear about what you think about Kanban EV. I really would like to give that game a try, but thematically I don't know if it excites me too much.
My Top Ten in no particular order: Aeon's End New Age Aventuria Adventure Card Game Maximum Apocalypse Roll Player Dark Souls The Card Game The Loop Dr Faux Strikes Back Fearsome Wilderness Furnace Cora Quest Castle Panic with Crowns and Quest Expansion
Spirit Island is best, in our opinion, at lower player counts. More players means an extended length game. Fine if everyone knows the game, but can be a chore with newer players. Terraforming Mars is always a fun game.

Heat we really like, but I (Conesy) have a hard time recommending it due to the card quality.
