Vida Tuch followed Pipa for a long time and she knew to contact Hope For Paws for help. By the time I arrived at the location, Pipa was so tired and she fell asleep on an old mop. In my imagination, she was dreaming about her rescue and how her life turns to be amazing, and at the moment she woke up and I had a loop around her :-)
After securing her, I asked her if she would join me on a rescue nearby before going to the hospital, and we went together to rescue Corey.

@@gogosylvia293 Not always, unfortunately. I'm also in rescue and a lot of times, when a dog becomes a senior, their thoughtless owners dump them in favor of a new dog, especially a puppy. Sucks big time. A lot of rescues won't allow an adoption to those people when this happens if they know about it.

What I find terrible about the situation, it's entirely avoidable. Minimum requirements for owning a pet are, spaying/neutering and housing/feeding. If you can't do that, why do you own a pet? I guess I understand people run into financial trouble but they should reach out to get help. Lots of people get rid of an animal because it gets hard or expensive. I have no pity for anyone who didn't try to get help. If you abandon an animal, you are lower than pond scum.

Oh that sweet old face. I love seniors white faces. reminds me of my 17 year old who passed 3 years ago in his sleep. Love you eddie..she looks like some Italian greyhound in there. I wish I could have her.

I have a 16 yr. Old border collie. Yes they become expensive with medication and all but really for people to just dump them. She's so happy to be with people. Beautiful dog!

The way Pipa collapses back onto the mop is heartbreaking. This is one of my favorite rescue videos.
There's another Hope For Paws rescue video from a couple or so years ago which is similar in that the little dog they rescued had made a box its home, sleeping on top of the flattened box in someone's yard. Luckily, the man contacted the rescue to get help for the dog. That was also an incredibly moving rescue and the little dog was so pitiful, seeking solace and 'comfort' on a flattened box. Heartbreaking.

Pipa looked hurt and fragile. Thank you for rescuing her. She needs love in a safe place during her senior life. The cat looks young. She can now live a long life in a loving home. Such a sweet video. Thanks for all you do.

It breaks my heart how people treat the elderly- both animals and humans and just treat them like trash. I'm glad that Pippa will now die in peace in a loving home when her day comes. You guys at HFP are angels!

You are just speculating. You have no idea if the dogs owner passed away and the dog got out of the house. It happens more often than you think. People are coming in to assess the situation the dog gets scared and runs away. The main thing here is to always get your dog or cat micro chipped

I have one of those chihuahuas and I can't imagine him being lost and scared like that. He had 2 owners before me. But he knows this is where he belongs. Forever.
Me too. Our Junie, was found at the river bottoms, nearly starved to death, missing one eye and teeth, with skin issues and little bites all over her. She weighed 4 lbs the day they found her and was getting close to starvation, weighing 10lbs healthy. My best friend's cousin found her, and could not keep her because of her landlord, and my friend knew we were looking for a companion for our other rescue, who was a chihuahua mix. We agreed to take Junie, sight-unseen, because I knew with her disabilities and age (she was 8), she would likely never leave the shelter with a family. The saddest part is that at 8, she was not potty trained in the least, and she spent the first year with us, looking for her "family" that dumped her. It took almost a year to potty train her too, whereas our other rescue, who was 2, and never potty trained it took about 2 weeks. I will never forget at almost 1 year to the date of her joining our family, she actually looked me in the eye and wagged her tail while I was petting her. I guess she had decided we were "keepers." Up until that point, she would sit next to me, but with her side or back to me, and look away, while I pet her. It's now been 2 years, and Junie has become the best "one-eyed dog" we have, while our other rescue Roxanne, is our "best two-eyed dog" so both doggies get to the very best dog we could ask for, lol. I have promised them both, I will be there at their last breath on this earth, unless they are there for mine first.

I think it's an Italian Greyhound and not a Chihuahua. I had an IG and he was amazing. He lived 21 years. He had seizures and stroke with his last seizure. He's in Heaven. Very nice pets.
I think this is a "pughuia." I found one. She has longer than normal legs and a curly tail. It's a "designer dog."
Blessed is the person who has gained the love of a senior dog.
Or cat. I semi-adopted an old 'street' cat here who had apparently been on the streets for at least the past 7 years, fending for himself but being fed by a neighbour. When I moved here I also started feeding him too but couldn't let him in as my own cat hated other cats. She became ill later and. sadly, had to be put to sleep. After that I started to encourage the 'street' cat, Mr Grumpy, to come in for his food and to have a place to sleep. The first day he came in he checked the place out and, after eating his meal, used the litter tray without needing to be shown where it was or what it was there for, so it was clear that he had at some point, years ago, had a home. Over the months this became his home but he still had his freedom to wander outside when he wanted to. Sadly, he took a turn for the worse 3 months ago, having what seemed to be strokes over the course of a few hours, so I had to have him put to sleep. I was with him though, holding him and telling him how loved he was. He passed peacefully, not alone outside in the cold with passers-by ignoring him or, worse, abusing him. He was well cared for and loved in his last year and a half. I just wish I could have rescued him years ago. He and Lottie, my cat who died last year, are both greatly missed. :-(

Both of those animals have been pets, and either their owners dumped them or the owners died and whoever cleared out their house or apt dumped the animals on the streets........a place they were ill prepared for.

@@littledikkins2 We think that is what happened to one of my rescue cats. She'd been living on the streets for about 3 or 4 years, being fed by people. I help with rescue and got called in to get her before winter set in 2 years ago. Although semi-feral, it soon became clear that she'd once belonged to someone as she had been spayed. Our vet thought she was about 10 - 12 years old. I think she was closer to 12 so is about 14 now. We kept her. She's a lovely cat now and very chatty. Either her original owner passed away or moved and just left her which often happens.

Anyone who tries to rescue a scared animal needs to have a calm, soothing voice and not talk loudly, raise their voice, etc. It's one way to gain the animal's trust and to let them know they're safe and that you're not going to harm them.

What was the outcome with the cat, he seems elderly and malnourished, perhaps one of those indoor cats that escaped from home and don't know how to survive on the streets, reason I am so overprotective with my babies. In the video it was clearly stated that the cat received medical treatment as well. And I'm absolutely positive they didn't leave the cat all dirty like that. Hope For Paws don't put wellbeing of one animal over another. They've once stopped the traffic in the middle of a highway to rescue some stray kitten. Hell, they even rescued roosters from the streets. Maybe there are some shady animal rescue centers out there, but HFP is definitely not one of those. It's not all about dogs for them.
They also don't document every single rescue case, who knows how many cats they get off the streets behind the scenes.

Can you even read what he put on the screen. Just because she is caged in the video doesnt mean its neglected. Spreading negativity and hate for no good reason. Most people who call them report dogs 🐕 for the most part. Cats hide and climb things and you can try catching stray cats if you like? 😂!!!

I can scarcely imagine how much pain that dog must’ve been in with a spinal infection and yet she was still such a tender sweetheart.
I have a 11 years old dog that I love with all my heart and soul and I will never ever let her on the street

I love those frosted faces. This truly breaks my heart. I have 3 senior dogs and seeing these two sweetie, makes me want to jump up and take them both in my arms and never let go. God bless these angels. They are safe now.
Seeing him rescue the cat reminded me, that my black long hair Merlin, was a stray too. He was found in a box on the side of the road, with a bunch of other kittens. Luckily he wasn't sick, and neither were any of the other kittens. So we adopted him, and now he's laying on the end of my bed purring and asleep. And all of the other kittens that were with him also found good homes.
There's also a couple of stray cats here too. The most recent one I saw was about a week ago. She was orange, but ran away and hid in some bushes, until my sister and I had moved past her.

They normally are pretty big cats with beautiful tails.
There is no greater healer then love and compassion and it costs nothing and brings huge rewards... And there is no greater love then the love of an animal, their love is unconditional and forever.
THIS IS WHAT HUMANITY NEEDS TO LEARN SO OUR WORLD AND HUMANITY CAN HEAL.

It actually does cost a lot of money, time, risk and effort to rescue these animals, love and compassion are the motivation, but medical care, housing, food, transportation cost a LOT. Think about donating a few bucks for the next cheeseburger or can of fish.

How pitiful!..poor little senior finding comfort in an old dirty mop..animals need so very little to make them happy and secure..a great many people don't get this..who could abandon such a sweet old soul?..heartbreaking!..terrible abuse to both doggie and kitty..both so frightened not knowing what will happen to them..thank you so much for the rescues..you have all earned your wings..Prayers..
