I saw a video on the Galaxy 5 showing that the first couple of days are critical in battery life due to a "learning" phase. After that, the battery life should be noticeably better. I just got a Galaxy 5 BT/WiFi model and it proved true these first 24 hrs so far.
Update. I don't have LTE. Just bluetooth/wifi option. All I needed. I can make calls when connected. Battery DID make an substantial increase after 2 days. Very happy with this watch. Recommend.

Great video! I actually ordered a galaxy watch 5 pro. My wife wanted the ultra but a significant difference in price so she settled for the apple watch series 8. No ultra for her, she just wants to jog with it. I have stress problems and stuff so i got the pro for the extra features

You are correct. It also requires you to contact your bank to verify to prevent fraudsters from frauding. I always get crazy looks when I use it on machines and the clerk keeps saying it won't work when it clearly does.
Yeah the 5 pro's battery is 4-5 days without GPS use, far better than the ultras without GPS use. However, when using GPS, the 5 pro drains alot more battery. good example was his 3 hour GPS use, usually takes about 24hours for the watch to drop to 85%, but if you use GPS, then it sounds about right, 3-4 of use to 85%.
I have auto record stuff off on my Apple Watch. I dont like things that arent intended to be a workout recorded as a workout. Irs still tracking the steps and miles walked. Why record a workout, if you arent doing a true walking workout.
I personally think the Samsung is much better, considering the huge price difference. These days you can find a new Samsung galaxy 5 pro for around 200 new, which I’m pretty sure is even cheaper than the Apple Watch SE
Is the apple pay / samsung pay issue only a problem in the USA? ive never had a problem in my country when Apple pay / Android pay / cardless payments.
Pretty sure this is just a US issue, because in my country we call it PayWave. As long as you have payment by phone or watch, doesn’t matter if it’s Samsung pay or Apple pay. it will work no matter what. All you need to do is to turn on the online payment and it will just work
Samsung pay 'isn't integrated' as much because it doesn't need to be. If there's a contactless terminal, you can pay with a Samsung device. Unlike Apple where it isn't the usual technology being used (very Apple of them). And before these were all as common and supported as they are now, Samsung made sure it would work by having actual contactless chips like your card does in the phone itself!
The pricing strategy of the Apple Watch this year really confuses me. The difference between a stainless steel S8 and the Ultra (in Europe) is just 50€. For that difference it seems like a no brainer to get the ultra, don’t you think? To me either the S8 stainless steel is too expensive or the ultra too cheap… as I said, I’m confused with this pricing… what do you think?

So according to this video the watches are basically identical, with very minor differences. Durability is similar - both have a titanium build and sapphire glass, Apple has better water resistance for diving, but in shallow water or in a pool Samsung is fine too. Battery life is similar. Payment works on both. Apple has transit directions, Samsung has text to speech. Apple is slightly better at tracking sports, Samsung is slightly better at tracking wellness. Apple works with Homekit, Samsung works with Google Home. So the main deciding factor is whether you have an iPhone or a Galaxy :) Or if you´re a serious athlete you get a Garmin.

The base Apple Watch can do literally everything the ultra can as far as this video goes. Hell my Apple Watch is 5 years old and the only thing I don’t have is temperature.

Galaxy Watch5 NFC transmitter is actually on the top side of the watch, so if you keep trying to put you watch face against the payment reader, Samsung Pay will fail very often since the transmitter actually getting further away from the NFC reader.
The key to using samsung pay on the GW5 is to put the side of the watch, along your outside wrist against the reader. NOT putting the watch face down. I had similar issues with it working half the time or having it take a while to read, where as now it works instantly every time. Try it out.
What is the point of comparing those two watches? The Apple watch won't work with Android, so it's not even an option for Android users and the latest Samsung watches won't connect to Apple phones. There are other non Apple watches that can work with iOS, but someone considering an Apple watch can't consider a Samsung watch and if you're considering a Samsung watch, you're not going to look at the Apple watch. I don't expect that anybody would buy a phone based on which watch would work with it.
My gf has Garmin. Has its perks. 5 days on a charge but. There's no tap to pay feature for any regular card also has some issues automatically connecting to her iPhone. I've had no issues connecting with my Samsung tho

I'm not sure about Google pay but Samsung pay should work anywhere credit cards do. It replicates the magnetic strip so if they accept credit cards it should accept Samsung pay, unless they changed it or maybe the watch doesn't do that.
I know this is about the phones but for anybody who has a Samsung 20 or older Samsung pays better than Apple pay because of the MST-enabled technology you could use Samsung Pay to make payments at almost any standard payment terminal, not just those that support tap-to-pay. Samsung enabled MST on its phone which transmits the same data a magnetic stripe would, but without having to make contact. The Samsung 20 was the last phone that has that technology. Still talk trash to my fiance when we travel to other countries and my phone lets me pay with tap after they tell me Apple isn't accepted because of it being a older card terminal. Damn you Samsung for taking this technology away now you let Apple have something else okay done with my rant lmao
Apple watch down to 95% in 3 hours? 100%/5=20. 20x3=60 hours. 60/24= 2.5 days? This is so not true. Every iWatch 3-7 series battery barely gets through the day.Official Apple website says battery endurance is 18Hrs.
The concept is very interesting but unfortunately the watch 5 pro costs 469 eu and the Apple Watch Ultra costs 999 eu, you should have done that with the watch 5 pro and a series 8 but the price difference means that obviously one will be better than another and that makes sense.

Hi, if you use the Galaxy Watch with Galaxy device you won't have problems like with the location beeing off, the Samsung/Google Pay, also you get all types of transport if you use it with Galaxy device and the battery will last much longer.

Everything was good except battery tracking. when u dont have the phone watch will use LTE which will drain the juice faster. Other than that great video.
i gotta keep both for testing in the future! it depends on your goals. I think the Ultra covers most bases so if you have a variety of interests then Apple wins. If you have very specific needs that Garmin can do when you're racing for a specific event or need something for a specific activity - then Garmin is the way to go
Can you test the accuracy of the body composition feature of the Galaxy Watch like you did with the straps :)?! Heard it was pretty accurate but most videos were about how to use the features not comparing with like DAX scanner.
Gotta say my anxiety always spikes whenever I try any kind of contactless payment lol the couple seconds wait before you get the approved chime/tap is lowkey nerve wracking
Samsung is really bad in measure HR during a walk or run it's really bad how they fail so much when you start the "workout" getting so weird spikes, i get like 120 HR spikes while walking normally when the normal is 80-90, they should collect more data during workout but seems is doing worst and that's why the VO2 gets so screwed =/ they never fixed that from GW3, GW4 and now GW5
The android pay apps should in theory work everywhere because its just NFC tap to pay like the credit cards, rather than apple because they lock it down to only apple pay capable POS systems

you can scroll or zoom in and out on the samsung by just spinning your finger on the edge btw, should make checking the map a lot easier

It doesn't anymore. That feature left with the Series 20 Samsung phones a few years ago. Really sad they stopped including it.

i gotta keep both for testing in the future! it depends on your goals. I think the Ultra covers most bases so if you have a variety of interests then Apple wins. If you have very specific needs that Garmin can do when you're racing for a specific event or need something for a specific activity - then Garmin is the way to go
Just a complement here, the samsungs watchs have different battery life depending in the size. With the watch 5 pro having the longest battery life

Can you test the accuracy of the body composition feature of the Galaxy Watch like you did with the straps :)?! Heard it was pretty accurate but most videos were about how to use the features not comparing with like DAX scanner.

Maybe the reason why the Samsung Watch wasn't working as well as it should was because your using a Google Pixel instead of a Samsung Galaxy

Samsung is really bad in measure HR during a walk or run it's really bad how they fail so much when you start the "workout" getting so weird spikes, i get like 120 HR spikes while walking normally when the normal is 80-90, they should collect more data during workout but seems is doing worst and that's why the VO2 gets so screwed =/ they never fixed that from GW3, GW4 and now GW5

Why didn't you use Samsung Health to log the food/beverages you consume? Thats a HUGE benefit to the Samsung
The android pay apps should in theory work everywhere because its just NFC tap to pay like the credit cards, rather than apple because they lock it down to only apple pay capable POS systems
