    + For the song Goodbye I’d have Vivian play out his entire solo. Not sure why Mutt Lange cut it down the way it ended up. So there’s that 😏

    To summarize - this is my take, aka the "classic-rocking-DL" in terms of choices and the album flow. I it was released like that, i bet it would be a good match to their peak years all the way through:
    1. "Demolition Man"
    2. "Paper Sun"
    3. "Burnout"
    4. "Goodbye"
    5. "Promises"
    6. "Disintegrate"
    7. "Back in Your Face"
    8. "Worlds Collide"
    9. "Day After Day"
    10. "Guilty"
    11. "I Am Your Child"
    12. "Kings of Oblivion"

    Very cool. Fun video. Fun to imagine "what if". Agree with nearly everything you say except I love Kings of Oblivion.

    I would have kept "Kings of Oblivion" but move "21st Sha la la Girl" to a B-side.

    My take on Def Leppard's Euporia album
    1. Steve Clark passed away, stop treating Vivian Campbell as a sideman in the band. Phil has kinda ruined them since Adrenalize.
    2. Def Leppard made awesome albums without Mutt Lange, no need for a Hysteria part II.
    3. Two or three ballads per album, no more.
    4. Albums should not be made solely on promoting a nostalgia tour. - They should stand behind current work and perform those songs live, not just the hits.

      Would have to agree. Just listened to all the songs in his links above and they're all forgettable generic garbage, like 99% of all Def lep albums after hysteria. They seemed to lose all the magic after Clark died and that little twit phil collins took over, wouldn't let Campbell even play a lead for like 20 years. Pyromania was their pinnacle.

    • @rohanmoorthy
      @rohanmoorthy  2 місяці тому

      Yup a lot of fans feel that way. The first three records are what quintessential Leppard is. And that’s cool. To each his or her own 😊👍🏻. And yes many do also feel that without Steve and Mutt the rest of the band was without proper direction. And I get that.

    • @rohanmoorthy
      @rohanmoorthy  2 місяці тому

      @@slayer7976 I have observed that too about Phil and Vivian. Not sure if the latter simply accepted a lay down of the law that Phil would play all leads or he just wanted to focus more on rhythm by his own accord. Either way Leppard hasn’t really utilised Vivian to his full potential. They need to let him rip. If they revert to a sound more reminiscent of their first two records that’d meet with much fanfare. Let’s see…

    I almost agree with everything you envisioned !! However, there would be a few tweaks on my behalf. Production wise: drums should be stellar, so, I would give them more punch, the same goes for the guitars and bass, I would totally modify their sound, making them a bit raw and edgy. Your track listing is marvelous, if only, I would bring back All Night, drop 21st Century Girl, and would add a shoot out of solos on Worlds Collide, making the outro last a couple of more minutes, which would leave the track length at around 6:00 minutes, slowly fading it out!! Nice concept art for the cover! Cheers!

      @rohanmoorthy  2 місяці тому

      Excellent points. Fully agree. Of course All Night 😄 that’s another matter. But the others you mentioned are bang on. I really like the added suggestion you made for extended guitar solos at the tail end of Worlds Collide. That would really elevate that track. 🙂👍🏻. Plus the mixing was awful on this record. As we both agree making the drums especially more dynamic would’ve really helped. 🙂

    Euphoria is an EXELLENT album, it brought the guitars front and center again along with a bit of the current influences. Thank goodness it wasn't much of those 90's influences and they kept most of it Def F'N Leppard!!! I hated the album after Euphoria, it sucked a male organ!!

    • @rohanmoorthy

      I agree. X or 10 was a terrible album. I know it has its fans and that’s cool. Though to me at least it had one great song and two good songs. The rest of it…well the less said the better. 😄

    • @Carlstrem

      X was the "Backstreet Boys with guitars" attempt, and it didn't pay out in any way - just shows how delusional the Joe/Phil vision might have been at times. That said, it could be salvaged. Scar, Kiss the Day and Cry are quite something to begin with, and they could come with another 4-5 great rockers (no, i don't mean something like 4 Letter Word as a great rocker from the band that was capable of much much more) if they would approach it with different mindset than chasing the pop glory.

    • @rohanmoorthy
      @rohanmoorthy  2 місяці тому

      @@Carlstrem yup and if I’m not wrong at around that time of X’s release, Vivian made a similar statement that Leppard was essentially a boy band with instruments. Talk about absolute cringe. But getting back to it Kiss The Day, Long Long Way To Go and Now we’re the ones that could’ve worked with harder rock tracks being added in. Scar to me felt like a run of the mill we’ve heard it before kinda thing. Nothing great. Though if you’ve noticed the better sounding stuff in their latter career has a lot of inputs from Rick Savage. They really need him to be at the helm and leading the charge if you ask me.

    • @Carlstrem
      @Carlstrem 2 місяці тому +1

      @@rohanmoorthy what i like in Scar is that it gives a place for guitar solos and all kinds of instrumental runs, it echoes the days of Clark/Willis that were packing the songs like Die Hard The Hunter with brilliant guitar themes and interchanges. And Viv/Phil are capable of that as well, but they are not willing too often. So we have a bit of that in Scar, even though i am not hot on its chorus, but at least the whole approach echoes the early DL days.

    Have no idea why this guy is talking about, Euphoria is a terrific album...👍

  • @Carlstrem
    @Carlstrem 2 місяці тому +1

    It could have been great: enter Burn out, Worlds Collide, and I am Your Child, take out the silly cock pop of All Night, 21 Sha la la la, and the substandard ballads To be Alive and Its Only Love, and there you have it - the classic DL rocking album. But Joe and Phil tendency to think it save enough to non existent teenage girls - won. It cost them reputation in the long run - instead of Iron Maiden or Judas Priest status they have "once great then compromised" one. It could have been great, but it's a mixed bag. Same could be said about everything after their early days. And i don't think Euphoria is an appropriate title, there is nothing too euphoric in this music or their dethroned condition back in the time of 1999, this is grotesque. It rather should have been called Kings of Oblivion - that's the better title, the underdog, the keeper of the flame.

    • @rohanmoorthy
      @rohanmoorthy  2 місяці тому +1

      @@Carlstrem great points. Euphoria as a name was chosen partly as it would complete the “ia” trilogy of names - Pyromania, Hysteria, Euphoria. Plus given this was their supposed return to form album the band and record label liked the idea.
