I love how EMS in BOTW was initially tought as impossible, only to require simply sleeping at a campfire to pull it off(literally, heheh) years later, Speedruners and Glitchhunters always find a way.
If there's one thing I've learned from speedrunning, it's that if someone says something's impossible, they're probably wrong. It's just a matter of time.

Such a fun video! It felt super hyped whenever there was a "cut, fade-to-black, _BUT THEN..."_ to the point I was audibly cheering when the last few strats were being introduced and explained. I liked the narrator's accent as well.
I remember the thing that got me interested in speedrunning was the excitement about barrier skip finally being discovered in Wind Waker HD (Wind Waker being a special game from my childhood, so it caught my attention.) For me personally, the hunt for the Great Plateau skip feels like the modern version of that old Holy Grail. I'm sure you'll find it someday, and it's going to be amazing when it happens!
It is actually possible to start a new game with the paraglider (and bow of light, and basically anything else you want), but doing so requires you to beat the game more or less normally without dying, saving, reloading, or exiting the game. It also requires another game before that to glitch the game into a state where it won't autosave. So... in order to skip the Great Plateau, you have to beat the Great Plateau. Twice.
I might be a pessimist when it comes to that but Plateau Skip seems VERY unlikely. Before you get the Paraglider, te Plateau is inside a Box and whenever Link leaves this Box (by traveling at high speed or wrong warping there with Moon Jump Wrong Warp), he voids out and spawns at the cliff where the opening cutscene plays. With New Game + you can transfer the Paraglider to a new game and then the Box disappears but that requires beating the game before a new Playthrough. Since the final battle takes place on Hyrule Field, a Wrong Warp doesn't make sense because of the Box. Someone would have to find a way to have the Paraglider early in the inventory which deactivates the Box.
@@SeeTv. I see where you are coming from, but then again, all we need to do is get the paraglider into link's inventory. This may, of course, be totally impossible without something even crazier, like ACE. But, it might also happen that a glitch is found which alters the state of the inventory, or which causes a pickup to be wrongly identified as something else... it seems, at the very least, to not be entirely out of the question
it’s so cool how glitch hunters and speed runners work together to break the game as much as possible to complete it faster, it’s probably my favourite part about speed running
it's like the meaning of life, the universe is one giant mess of a gltich, and speedrunning (science) glitches, discoveries, uncover ways to optimize the universe to its fullest potential
How many glitches and exploits will we discover until ACE gets discovered, if it even could have ACE? This game is so broken, we can do things that were originally thought to be emulator only like keeping the Bow of Light with no Final Boss issues, Infinite Jump, flying anywhere at high speed and no stamina consumption, etc., yet we can't warp to the credits. Edit: Corrected a typo.
ACE in its most pure form is impossible on modern hardware due to data execution prevention. But it is still a slight possibility that one could do something with return-oriented programming; albeit with unimaginable difficulty and luck. Very smart people have been aware of ROP for years, so most software has additional defensive features. If someone could do that, they would just need to somehow enable a debug flag or add the paraglider to the player inventory. That would prevent the great plateau barrier check, and allow a great plateau skip; the Holy grail of botw speedrunning.
@@Justsomedudeokay ace stands for "Arbitrary Code Execution". I'm not literate in the nitty gritty details of it, but basically it has to do with manipulating the game in a way that sets a bunch of specific flags or values, then loading them (usually through a warp or screen transition) to warp directly to the end of a game or even the credits. An example would be mario 3, where if you kick a shell around and jump around in a very specific way in an early level; a glitched warp pipe appears and going in it instantly loads the ending credits of the game.
@@Justsomedudeokay ACE = "Arbitrary Code Execution", the ability to write and execute your own programming code just by manipulating the game from within. There's videos explaining how it works for Super Mario World and Ocarina of Time.

@@Nat_the_Chicken True. I don't know if he does that on purpose (I guess so), but most of his discoveries have some use in speedrunning sooner or later
Even though I've never really cared about speedruns before, I've been binging a ton of videos from this channel recently. There's just something about the way they tell these stories that makes you really invested, and I think that's pretty cool
This threw me off for a second. There's a UA-camr doing a minimalist 100% run of BotW. This is where you do only the minimum required actions (with the minimum inventory) to get 100% completion on the map. I saw the channel name, and actually thought he'd released a video early. (They normally release on Sundays). It's not exactly a speedrun, as avoiding events and dragging items rather than putting them in your inventory takes time. The goal is just to prove what is absolutely necessary to get 100%. Too many people think you need to, say, actually defeat all the dungeons and shrines or complete all the quests, but you don't It's primarily Korok seeds and finding all map locations (including shrines). And, yes, I decided to comment because I thought more people might try the run. I won't mention the UA-camr's name so I'm not spamming. It's just something I thought people might be interested in. I'd also just love it if someone did a glitched run of minimalist 100%. For his purposes, the other guy is going glitchless, to prove you don't need glitches to do it. But, with glitches, maybe it could be a speedrun category instead of a multi-month-a-thon.
What the UA-camr you mention does is absolutely a speedrun in a category usually known as Low%. Lowest Percent has done a Video about this run in Twilight Princess called "The Speedrun Where Link Stares at Rupees for 17 hours" if you're interrested in watching it.
@@TekZulu No, it isn't. It's not Low% it's minimalist 100%. I even explained what the category meant. Low% doesn't get 100% completion. You don't have to get every Korok Seed and map location. Since items don't affect percentage, you are free to pick up as many as you want. Minimalist 100% avoids most shrines, avoids picking up items as much as possible, requiring you to use magnesis and hitting items to move them around. You can't complete any quest that isn't required to complete the game. You do the minimum required to get 100% completion. He can't even heal other than by sleeping.
I understand that Roekoe_ is technically the owner of the Master Sword record, but LegendofLinkk's name should probably be on the top of that leaderboard. "Master Sword% - Brought to you by LegendofLinkk"

I love the mix of Breath of the Wild and Genshin music in this video. I bet most people didn’t even notice 😂
Never, EVER say, "This time can't get any lower, this category is dead." It is never true. People even said it about SMB1, and they were wrong. There is always more to the onion.
I knew Limcube was doing this one before I even clicked on the video. I love your content man and everything Lowest Percent are doing as well!
I was waiting for a limcube vid
I subscribed before you said you were showing more glitches, amazing channel, and the fact that you add so many details I just LOVE this. When I was younger (well two years ago) when I played BOTW I wanted the sword quicker and I did the horse glitch as shown in the video and before to mentioned it I was all like " when is he going to mention that one thing I did?" and then I saw it and the nostalgia ran back to me. Thank you for making this video, it is great in everyway and you are fine about the low quality. Have a good day sir😊
Lowest Percent lives! I was worried it was doomed, similar to how many co-op channels do. Keep up the good work, friends
It’s definitely deliberate that this video is longer than the run is.
i love this guy and he needs to do the VO for more videos on here. voice like butter yo
It can be hard to understand some words, but it is really nice to listen to especially once you get used to the accent.
Thank you!!! :D
Great video!! So glad that Lowest Percent is back :D
Oh this channel never disappoints! Awesome video, Limcube!
Superb video man, absolutely love watching these
Incredible video!
I really like how Bot__W is the source of every single EMS glitch
And LegendofLinkk is the source of at least half the other glitches lol
@@Nat_the_Chicken I discovered a ton of glitches too, but almost none of those were useful for speedrunning. I once found a weapon dupe, and a few weeks later another better dupe got found. But at least I found B-Lock, which is half of BLSS
@@SilicatYT Oh right you're that person! I didn't even notice I was replying to someone with actual significant contributions to the community, or I wouldn't have been so flippant lol.
LegendofLinkk just seems to be supernaturally good at putting together all these weird things and taking the final step to come up with a great speedrunning trick. I've been surprised by how many times his name has popped up recently.
In love with this channel! Every video is so interesting, and I love hearing about games I like and how broken they can be 🤣🤣🤣
This is a great video and everything but I'm too busy laughing at Master Schwert. (10:08)
Shoutout to that Chinese guy who BOMBED his social credit score by cheating at video games for the good of the speedrunning community
The title of video should be "the history of master sword speedrun"
Someday speedrunners are gonna find a way to beat the game from title screen
Great video! That's one of the coolest category progressions I've ever seen.
I’ve been watching that series too!! I tune in to every episode :)
who is it? sounds really cool
@@ralphismyname4940 The account name is Wolf Link I think
@@TekZulu No, it isn't. It's not Low% it's minimalist 100%. I even explained what the category meant.
Low% doesn't get 100% completion. You don't have to get every Korok Seed and map location. Since items don't affect percentage, you are free to pick up as many as you want.
Minimalist 100% avoids most shrines, avoids picking up items as much as possible, requiring you to use magnesis and hitting items to move them around. You can't complete any quest that isn't required to complete the game. You do the minimum required to get 100% completion.
He can't even heal other than by sleeping.
Finally I can watch more from this channel
I love how the date this was posted another WR got verified
3:27 id love to hear how tf someone even stumbled upon that sequence😂
I was waiting for the ending way of getting the sword and I was like oh I forget people didn’t know this before 🙃😂
Truly, Human ingenuity knows no bounds.
LIM!!!! Yesssss, finally 😍
Tbh in botw I just used a glitch by putting a campfire under the master sword, looked up, and passed the time and then. I got the master sword.
i didn't know i was watching summoning salt
lowest persalt
The way you say "rennaissance" is smooth as hell
Well he may not be French but he is European
Now we just need a no master sword run.
HA
I really hope you cover some of Golden Sun recent glitches that tore down the record times to some pretty absurd levels.
Wtf is a bullet time bounce??? The only bounce in botw thats useful in any way is BOUNCE THAT BOIIII!!!!!!
Finally, a video on World Record Progression that isn't an hour long!
I understand that Roekoe_ is technically the owner of the Master Sword record, but LegendofLinkk's name should probably be on the top of that leaderboard.
"Master Sword% - Brought to you by LegendofLinkk"
this video is longer than the speedrun, and that blows my mind 🤯
I'd just like to say how much I appreciate that this video -- and seemingly all Lowest Percents videos -- refer to speed runners with they/them pronouns. Its a small thing but it's very much appreciated & great style wise!
I hate to disappoint, but you should check out 12:40 .. why is that such a thing you appreciate anyway? IDK why anyone would care how someone refers to someone else
One of the most interesting videos on UA-cam - I have been here 17 years!
