What do you think about it?

    Thanks for a great video?
    Do you think this can be done at home with hairdryer, solder tin and solder?
    My phone is 'reverse' charging. And or not taking charge at all. Regardless of MFI cable or not.
    Thanks for every and any insight.

    I hadn't thought of putting the tweezers in the ultrasonic. I'll do that when I get to work in the morning. I've gotten to where I store my tweezers in one of those wire/flux pad things to clean a soldering iron with. I don't have to chase to find the tweezers and jabbing them in that cleans off the yuck that accumulates on them.

    Thank you for the video. Please tell us - what model is a mini hot-air soldering station. I have a Quick-861DW. It's a beautiful station. BUT I want to buy another Quick-860AD .. This is essentially a clone of Metcal HCT2-120, but not so expensive ..

    I realise you might not read this Q as its an older video , but I am left a bit confused regarding where you ran those two jumper to , as the second one could not be seen and the first one you soldered to where the shield used to be , but would that not create a short to ground ( or did you cut them both off when the chip was fixed down ) only it was not to clear to me , I would really love for you to clear up my misunderstanding ....kindest regards Jessa your the best most patient and gracious teacher ever 🙏

    • @JessaJones
      @JessaJones  7 років тому

      i cut them at the end--they were just left long to help keep the actual jumper in place while soldering the new chip down.

    hi thank you for your so nices videos. I am so fascinated by your skills...
    I know you use a Hakko iron and JBC hot hair pencil.
    But what is the brand of the microscope you use please?

    • @davidshanlay
      @davidshanlay 6 років тому

      Most repairs use AM Scope. They use trinocular scope to use the camera to post on youtube and online sites as a marketing tool.
      It is your choice to use any microscope that is suitable with your budget. At least use stereo zoom microscope. Do not use the magnifire like things that cost about $200.

    Oh man I think you missed a bit I was really looking forward to knowing, maybe you mentioned it but I keep missing it, what do you do if one side of the ic is black including the pad it solders on to?

    • @JessaJones
      @JessaJones  8 років тому

      I've never seen that on an ic, but burned filters sure. If there was so much heat during a short to ground of a high voltage line then the component will weld, not solder, but weld as in molecularly join to the pad. It can't be separated from the pad, so in that case the of will come off with the component and you work with the trace that's left behind.

    • @krayzeeali
      @krayzeeali 8 років тому

      +iPad Rehab yeah you're right, my bad, I meant a filter, if a filter is corroded on one side, including the pad, do I make a jumper from the other side of the filter or do I replace it with a filter? Also how do I find out where to jump it to if it isn't obvious?
      Thank you very much for your time and that nugget of info and I enjoy your videos loads and hope to hear from you soon

    • @iBoardRepair
      @iBoardRepair 8 років тому

      +krayzeeali if the pad is gone you can't connect anything to it, and you will have to find schematics or pathways to find where you have to jump to

    Hi, I love your videos and find them really helpful please keep up the good work :) one question I have when it comes to soldering jumpers on SMC's is would it be easier to solder the jumper to the chip rather than put it in place on the board, it won't be practical with pads towards the middle but on the outer edges I wondered if it would make it that bit quicker and easier? I'm sure I'm overlooking something, thank you again for the great videos :)

    • @JessaJones
      @JessaJones  8 років тому +1

      +Daniel Jefferies I don't understand how this would work conceptually. Starting with a pre-balled new chip, the act of putting a jumper on the chip would destroy the ball. Let's say you were reballing a chip, then in theory you could seat a jumper within the new ball---but then how would you ensure that the jumper also soldered to the underlying trace on the board that is adjacent to the ball? It would be a nightmare to do it this way.

    • @MirceaD28
      @MirceaD28 8 років тому

      Nice work and a nice working place. Have you tried to flatten the end of the wire where the ball sits? Greater surface to attach and low profile. Sorry to say this, but you should work like a watchmaker, in the same position because you can develop spinal problem.. like me.

    could a new pad be constructed by setting the shape of a new track in small copper wire and then striking the end on a hard surface with a hammer to create a new pad.

    In regard to error 27...This may sound counter intuitive obviously but with error 27 if the issue was space being filled up by error logs and not actually corrupted software... in theory would pulling the nand and essentially copy and pasting the data to a bigger size nand work? Lmk ur thought. would love to hear from ya even though this method if it would would be xtra.

    • @JessaJones
      @JessaJones  5 років тому

      The NAND would not match the data about the NAND. If you actually swapped a nand for a different NAND and copied the data about the NAND then the device would boot to DFU and prompt you to restore. It can work, but not for data recovery, only NAND expansion

  • @the-d-r
    @the-d-r 8 років тому

    Hi, it has nothing to do with your video, but do you have one of this NAND programming devices, Chinese use to turn a cheap 16GB Phone into a 128GB or to unlock iCloud? Or to fix NAND Problems.

      +Jessa Jones hmmmmmmm shocked bad station or offsets wrong ? mine were accurate out of the box a friend his machine, was on an old firmware and out by 220f bug in firmware ? updating firmware fixed it without adjusting the offset to get a good thermocouple reading. it h/eats up ground connections for breakfast to say it's a nano machine shame you had problems with yours. Don't know if you know how to test u2 ic, pretty quick when you have no power and and no charge even with good known battery, if tristar bypass cap, is grounded the ic has a protect mode that can be reset :) will be the only cap on board that's shorted it's the safety mech it's programmed to do that can be reset via jtag interface.

    • @ibjessa
      @ibjessa 8 років тому +2

      Learn to be more careful. Seriously, there is no reason to pull pads. You should be practicing on scrap boards until proficient, then you will never pull a pad on a device that you're actually intending to fix.

    • @koolkat214
      @koolkat214 8 років тому +1

      What about if say it was on the board you had to repair, like this one. Would that be considered unrepairable since you'll be touching other pads? I'm just curious because I want to do this stuff, but have always wondered about those situations. Btw love your videos, I can binge watch you and louis' videos. Keep up the great work! :)

      B4 is connected to 90_TRISTAR_BI_E75_PAIR2_CONN_N
      That connects to pin 30 on J1817. Just put a wire on the missing pad. keep it in place with some kapton and solder a new one on.

      @Ostrica391 7 років тому

    • @AshleyVanSteenacker

      If you've got a missing pad then you don't have any copper anymore. Look if there is a via that connects to that pad. If not Run a wire under there. Look at Jessa's video she does a great job at explaining it.
