In the beginning of the video I added a little reverb from a Lexicon MPX500 on the drums, all other sounds came directly dry from the CX2.
Wersi WERSI MATIC CX2 is a programmable rhythm machine / accompaniment from Germany.
The CX2 has preset rhythms and is also programmable. The drums are digital 8-bit samples of real drums. The CX2 It's micro processor controlled, but it has analog sound generation for the accompaniment. A kind of "solina string ensemble" is also on board. Tape interface for storing own patterns onto tape - like on analog synths as Korg Polysix or Roland Juno-60. The Wersi CX2 is the successor of the CX1, which is essentially the same, except the drums. The earlier CX1 has fully analog drum sounds, whereas the CX2 uses digital samples.
The CX2 was also included in Wersi organs of the day. It's similar to the "Böhm Digital Drums".

I love the quacky filtered percussive chord sound! And the drums! This thing is so funky!
What a great sounding drum kit.
Clever little unit
I have wanted one for 8 years! Wish it was more well documented! Thank you
OMFG!!! I have never seen this tech. GOLD!!! This is Great! 😄
dude this thing is funky as hell!!! never heard of it before.
5:36.... That 4 to the floor moment. Nice!
Sounds great to me. Reminds me of some advertisements that use retro music
Captain Future's sparetime instrument.
Вот это самоиграечный комбайн! Для 85го это наверное был взрыв мозга, да ещё с таким мощным звуком.
The slow-rock tempo(?) at 2:12! So very uncanny for being 1985, so many 70s images flashes in front of my eyes, and then I didn't even render any memories in that decade.
These are super weird and awesome.
some serious lo-fi there!
Fun, it reminds me if some put it in an old film, also some video games, but still can hold itself today too
Supergeil! I would think these things would have sold like crazy here in Deutschland in the 80s and 90s. Most of what you've played I've heard hundreds of times in fest tents and on Rhein riverboat cruises. Und es war wahrscheinlich billiiger als ein Festzelt-Partyband zu engagieren.
Genau!
I'm sure I've heard them too. Once a year in the 80s my mum would make us do a 24-hour coach trip to go skiiing in Austria and they would play music like this all the way
It's kind of odd how those crunchy drums sound very much like they are from 1985, but the box they eminate from looks like it was built at least a decade earlier. From the pictures alone I was expecting the drums to sound like they came from a Bontempi organ from 1975, so I was pleasantly surprised that it featured quite hard-hitting 8-bit samples.
In fact, the predecessor of the CX2 was the CX1, which came out few years earlier. It looks the same, it's identical, except for one thing: the drums are fully analogue! I also made a video with the CX1, check it out!
@@AnalogAudio1 I found and watched that video straight after posting my comment on this one. I guess the company realised it needed to update the drum sounds, but didn't have the resources to modernise the keyboard/box itself. It has a certain amount of charm. Does it have 29 keys? There can't be many keyboards that have 2 'and a bit' octaves (we seem to have reached a standard of 25 or 37 keys on mini-keyboards these days) but I quite like that form factor.
wersi defenitely were stuck in the 1970s even by 1985 , you should have expected fm sounds to accomp the digital drums , still lovely
Well the CX2 was an updated version of the CX1, which was fully analog. Just the drums were updated with a new drum card. 1985 analogue was still common.
FM patent was taken by Yamaha by then from Stanford University and milked to death till 1988
The sounds are so good on this machine fantastic 😄👍
Ah yes..The Synthwave God's will be pleased.
The custom pattern generator is a real gem.
Whaaaaaat, that's pretty dang impressive.
I have the CX1, lovely over engineered machines. I wish there was the possibility of external clock or midi sync. If anybody knows please let us know!
I have the CX 1 with the analog drums and I think only this board/card is different.
All the other sounds are identical
Yes, that's true.
Beautiful!! :o
brilliant ending 👏
Wow! Nice!👍
Sweet!
thank yOU!!!!!!
magic
Nice!!!!
i really want one of these
Nice my Friend :)
Behringer should clone this..
I want one!
i will buy it
Why does the beginning of this video remind me of music from Kirby’s Adventure?😆
not a bad thing!
Every synth collection should have at least one old Wersi machine of some sort because they were all a bit odd.
😍😍😍😍😍😍 why NOWADAYS will not use these tech anymore in music ????
If modified (single outputs, sync in/out, MIDI) you can surely make some fresh tracks
It seems like it was made to generate game show music
Haha I love it! Anybody know what its worth?
Sanırım Modern Talking bu cihazı kullandı çok benziyor onların parçalarına. Acaba Türkiye'ye de geldi mi bunlardan.
Roland and SE should team up to make a groove box like this, but analog not bull crap pcm and virtual.
Instant porn music machine!
Sure if you like Tirolean Mountain Porn
It's great for nostalgia but otherwise....... No thanks x
Not analog, has PCM. CX 1 was analog.
Yes, the drums are PCM, the other sound generators are analog, see my video description.
