bro i have installed slimlp it worked but it is slow than the old os and i would say it not ideal because it sometimes kernal crash too so what custom os did good job with your device without lagging with gapps

Are you sure you are pressing the power button and the volume down button? You have to keep them tight without releasing them until the recovery appears.

try connecting to pc and install adb and fastboot, then type adb reboot recovery. If u need more help reply
