I love how this mix contains the themes from all three movies because they’re all seamlessly woven in with the new Hidden World themes (John Powell is a genius with leitmotifs). Not only does it embody the third movie, it also captures the spirit of its predecessors and of How To Train Your Dragon as a whole.

Yendys Stigall Obviously he owes a great deal of credit to Hans for his career, but his “musical voice” is much different than Hans. Hans is more of a synth/ computer guy, while Powell composers mainly for orchestra with some world instruments and choir. While Hans is certainly a genius, Powell is a genius in his own regard and not an imitation of Zimmer.

When I was young, my mom always told me there were dragons as clouds... as mountains... as rivers... blending into our everyday routine.. waiting for the day to come, to meet us... but were too afraid, so they wont come, fearing they would be misunderstood...now I'm a near a grown up... and I'm still waiting for the dragons to come...

Little brown, scuttly dragons that hunted down the mice and rats in well-organized packs. Preposterously huge sea dragons that were twenty times as big as the big blue whale. Some say that the dragons retreated back into the seas leaving not a bone, nor a fang, for men to remember them by. Others say they were nothing but folktales to begin with... uh, I'm okay with that. Legends say that when the ground quakes or lava spews from the earth, it's the dragons letting us know that they're still here, waiting for us to figure out how to get along. Yes, the world believes that the dragons are gone, if they ever existed at all, but we Berkians? We know otherwise. Since everyone is sharing how important HTTYD was to their childhood, I'd like to give my thoughts on this trilogy as well. Even though HTTYD came out in 2009, I only became entranced by the movie back in 2018. UA-cam recommended the "Forbidden Friendship" scene, which reminded me of the existence of this movie. This prompted me to go back and rewatch the first movie and discover the second part to this trilogy. I loved the blooming friendship between Hiccup and Toothless because there is so much mutual trust and experience accumulated between them throughout the years. Tears were shed when I saw Stoick die in the hands of Toothless controlled by the alpha, and the grief Hiccup felt from the loss of his dad. When the third movie came out last year, I felt excited and bittersweet knowing that the series were coming to a close. I mentally prepared myself to see the separation happen between Hiccup and Toothless because COME ON THEY BEGAN A TRAILER WITH "There were dragons when I was a boy." I WAS SO DEVASTATED. So, going into the movie theater to watch this movie, I was full of so many emotions. By the end of it, I was bawling my eyes out from the immense grief I felt. The animators did an amazing job with this trilogy. There was the discovery of an amazing bond between fated enemies: humans and dragons. Hiccup, being the outsider, tries to prove the good in dragons, and brings the two worlds together. From here, he had to accept that some people cannot be changed (Drago), and that it is really best to prioritize his people more than others. He found his mother but lost his father to his best friend under the alpha's control. The light fury came into Toothless' life, sidetracking him and helping Toothless realize his duties as an alpha. Hiccup also had to learn to become a better chief for Berk. In the end, the journey ended with the two parting ways for each other's safety...I will never forget the love the two had for each other; it's beautiful.
Ahhaa I teared up writing this.
Thank you Hiccup and Toothless for teaching me so many values in life.

The scores for this trilogy are nothing short of amazing and I hope that John Powell gets an Oscar nomination or win for this masterpiece. Fun fact: I actually haven't been able to bring myself to watch the film again or even listen to the score from beginning to end because of how hard I cried when I saw it in theaters. I watch clips occasionally, but I haven't been able to watch the whole film. I practically grew up with these movies; the first one came out when I was 8 and now I'm almost 19. It was like saying goodbye to close friends for the last time. This movie got the waterworks going like hardly any other movie I've seen.

They stayed close to me since I was a girl, giving me smiles and memories until they left... Giving me the best memory of my childhood. They helped me grow as a person and they helped me move past a death (My sister) that I didn't want to move from. So I can fully say with a light heart, There were dragons when I was a girl

I wear my heart on my sleeve. It's easy to get me to on the verge of tears during a film. I was almost turning on the waterworks when Luke talked to Yoda, saw Leia again, and moved on into the force in Episode VIII. I was getting close when the heroes of the universe laid Tony Stark to rest in End Game. When Uncle Aaron died in Miles's arms, my eyes let out a decent amount. Yet, despite all this, rarely can I get into a near uncontrollable periods of sobbing in a film. The Iron Giant, The Land Before Time, and Godzilla vs. Destoroyah have done that to me, but very rarely can a movie now a days make me get that emotional to the point where I feel like a kid again.
But right from the moment when Hiccup told all the dragons it was time to go. Then when he married Astrid. Then to the fast forward when the two had kids. To the reveal that Toothless and the Light Fury had kids themselves. And then to the children meeting Toothless for the first time, and John Powell's iconic theme playing as the family went for one last flight...tears. Lots of tears. A river of a face and heavy breathing for almost ten minutes. That's really when you know a movie has an impact on you.
Thank you to everybody who worked on these films. To every person who lent their creative minds to the Realm of Berk. To every artist who created one of the most lovely-looking cinematic experiences in recent times. To every actor who voiced characters that we will be remembering for decades and decades to come. And thank you to every maker of music who gave these films the perfect soundtrack that will be recognizable forever. Thanks to all for one of the greatest trilogies in all of cinema.
Until that day, when dragons can return in peace.

How to Train Your Dragon, at least for me, represented my childhood. I didn’t find it until after the second movie was out, I believe, but my brothers and I loved to watch the movies. My dad passed in 2018, and since then I have not been able to watch the scene where Stoick dies. When I heard there was a third one coming out, I knew it would likely be the last one. My friends and I went to go see it in theaters, all of us being in eighth grade at the time, knowing the next year we would be the first freshman class at the new high school in town (long story), and I was crying at the end when all of the dragons left. It felt like the end of childhood, which it very much was. Even now, if I get the chance, I watch these movies.

I shared this on another video, but I'll share it here:
The first movie came into theaters on my birthday. I begged my mom to go see it, and so we did. My mom ended up buying the movie for me. And what did I do? Filled up 3 tiny notebooks with all dragon types and their abilities, and I colored a drawing of toothless, using 3 black markers in full to do so. It spoke to me. I was a weird kid, and so was hiccup.
I've been religiously keeping up with httyd ever since. I'm 19 now, and sometimes, I still catch myself looking in the sky and imagining toothless and hiccup swirling over clouds. I hear the thunder and think of the dragons that could cause it. This movie is and will be apart of me forever. Once a viking, always a viking. Once a dragon rider, always a dragon rider. This goes out to my fellow Berkians: don't forget the dragons. They're waiting.

John Powell did an incredible job with blending all of the songs from the first and second movies. The entire trilogy came to an astounding conclusion, and the winning factor was the soundtrack. I grew up with this series and was very happy to see it all come together. He made it so there were a few parts that were new and they filled in the blanks. With the remaining parts he brought back memories and emotions that were stored in scenes and put it in the soundtrack.
I don’t know how you did it, John, but you shaped my childhood.

stop... everyone's comments are giving me soooooo much nostalgia. i keep tearing up from reading everyone's comments about important HTTYD is to them. this trilogy is one of the most amazing movies i have ever watched in my entire existence. everyone keeps saying that as i get older i will out grow this trilogy but they dont understand the emotional and mental attachment i have to this film series. if i could explain to them that i could never out grow this trilogy in words i would, but words will never be able to properly justify the amazing moments, scenes, friendships, hardships, relationships the shows, short films, and the trilogy can truly offer. i honestly feel like a stranger to my friends when i talk to them about HTTYD bc most of them have never even heard of How to Train Your Dragon, but its amazing to see sooo many ppl who love this trilogy as much as i do. and i hope that never changes.

Crying because I forgot about the trilogy of httyd, and missing my childhood. These movies mean so much to me because these where the movies that me and my siblings watched. They were our movies that always brought us together. Even when the third movie came out, we all got together and watched it. We have watched them since they first came out, and they have played a huge part of my life. Thank you Ambient Worlds for reminding me of some of my favorite childhood memories and making my day

Httyd has had a tremenous part of my childhood- from the films, to the several series and even the mini films like gift of the night fury. I managed to see the third one in theatres when it came out... first time i ever cried over a movie. The hidden world scene is stunning, almost looks like it belongs in avatar. And the music? Conplete and utter ascension into the heavens. I could listen on repeat over, and over.
Now i relate to it even more- last year, my dad passed, just as unexpectedly as Stoick. I'l be honest. My dad was very much like him. Brave, Smart, strong. Hotheaded and stubborn. Best guy in my life. Watching that scene in the second movie makes me cry so, so much because now I really understand the weight that is carried. I cannot explain how much this triology has impacted me in the best way possible..... ♥︎ Httyd forever.

I was 10 when this movie was released. HTTYD had been my entire life; I couldn't even say when I first discovered it, it's just been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I went to see the final installation in the cinema, and it was as breath-taking and awe-inspiring as the first two, just as I'd expected. It's worth mentioning that I had never cried at a movie or show in my life, but at seeing the end of The Hidden World, when Toothless and the other dragons left Berk for the hidden world, I was brought to tears. It was beautifully done. When Hiccup's hand left Toothless' nose- the reverse of how the friendship began so many years before- I felt an unbearable pang of heartache. It was time to move on.
When I got home that night, I lay in bed and I just felt flat. I don't know how else to describe it. I couldn't put my finger on what it was, but something about the ending was weighing me down. All these years later, I finally figured it out. The union between Hiccup and Toothless that began all those years ago summarized my childhood. The bond they shared, the lands they explored, the beautiful story. It all gave me the inspiration to imagine a world of my own, in which I could have the same adventures and experience the same sense of freedom as the Vikings.
When this came to an end, it was quite literally a coming of age.
I left the comfort of my childhood and the friends I knew, and began a new chapter. Just as Hiccup did without Toothless. I adored every single aspect of these movies, and I still weep for the memories of them. It heals my heart to listen to this music and just imagine myself flying through the wispy clouds on the back of my own Light Fury, soaring up through the mist into an oblivion of stars.
I still dream that day will come... when the dragons can return in peace

I started watching dragons riders of berk on my TV at cartoon network, when I was 6. I loved the show a lot! but the the show was put in awkward times like it only comes at dawn or early morning, I remember how I used to wake up and go straight to the TV and turn it on and watch. later on. I saw the race to the edge when I was 8 yrs of age. I finally saw the movies when I was 12. I remember how my heart sank when I realized that Hiccup and toothless got separated, I was 13 yrs that time and I remember how I almost cried.
It played a huge role on how I saw the world.
I will forever continue watching the movie every time I will have winter holidays.
