That is just a bad way to put it. Theshy outclassed every single top laner he has encountered in this tournament so far including Nuguri, even in the games they beat IG. Doran be a better choice in some games but you have too much hate toward Sword and not giving Theshy enough credit for being the best top laner in the world.
A bad way to put it? No. TheShy is beast, but grf hasn’t learned a single thing from previous matches. They kept on giving sword carry/aggressive picks and chovy a tank. In return, sword continues to shit on other 4 members. Grf refused to play around the IG’s strong point and lost. Just shows how absence of manager to oversee the strategy can be devastating.

Chovy’s answer already explained that. Rookie roams too much and they can’t handle that. Picking a tank mid is a compromise and it turned out not bad. Think of the first 3 games poppy Galio Sion. Their top laner would have lost a lot quicker if chovy picked a regular mage.

Too those who don't understand why they choose tanks for mid: Rookie is the engine of IG with Ning, which will connect three lanes and help them to attack wildly. GRF hoped to limit rookie by Mid Tanks. In fact, they did it, and ig was very hard in the early time of the games. I think this is a brilliant idea discussed by all lck teams, and they know this is a key point to limit ig. However, GRF ignore the function of Ning and the power of the Shy, since they never met before. But if the mid changed to carry heros, I think they will lose the bottom line because of Rookie's support.

I totally agree with you, and eventhough i don't agree with chaos's decisions, I do understand them. IG is really predctable since their only plan that worked is : get theshy to his items and let him carry the fights. Giving tanks to sword wouldn't have done anything to slow down theshy's pace as it would have let him farm quietly, which was exactly what he wanted. Kayle, vlad etc don't need "kills" to get stronger later in the game and carry teamfights. I believe Chaos wanted sword to utterly destroy theshy, what he clearly didn't manage to do. As for chovy, it was the exact opposite, Qiyana need kills to be unlocked on the map and chovy did a good job shutting down rookie (but i repeat myself, i do agree with you that he would have had an even greater impact on carries) But once again, like i said before, i agree with you thinking that it was definitely not the best solution.

With this level of gameplay? He'd be imported by NA, not China. Btw, China figured out how to use imports correctly. China takes time to develop imports, often from scratch. All 4 LPL Koreans made their bones in the LPL scene, and not in the LCK. This is something NA and EU can learn from.

If you are interested there are lots of articles about it, because there's a big drama surrounding Griffin at the moment. But they had someone to replace him, so yeah they didn't have their best coach, but they had one. But for IG, they did change their coach after last worlds, and ... it tactically shows up. Coach kim went for DWG and IG looks far worse "strategy-wise" since his leave. Combine that to their (Rookie and Ning) personnal problems and we have IG that's still struggling a lot to reach their former ultimate form. Fortunately they still know how to individually step up during hard times.

I don't understand the idea of using tanks to contain rookie. Chovy can clap rookie in a mirror matchup, he has superior mechanics. It would've been better to put sword on tanks to lane safely with theshy and just scale up.

Btw, China figured out how to use imports correctly. China takes time to develop imports, often from scratch. All 4 LPL Koreans made their bones in the LPL scene, and not in the LCK. This is something NA and EU can learn from.

@@Insharai that's not true. at least not completely. But yes they fired CVMax which was in my opinion one of the best success factor for the team. If you are interested there are lots of articles about it, because there's a big drama surrounding Griffin at the moment. But they had someone to replace him, so yeah they didn't have their best coach, but they had one. But for IG, they did change their coach after last worlds, and ... it tactically shows up. Coach kim went for DWG and IG looks far worse "strategy-wise" since his leave. Combine that to their (Rookie and Ning) personnal problems and we have IG that's still struggling a lot to reach their former ultimate form. Fortunately they still know how to individually step up during hard times.

I don't understand the idea of using tanks to contain rookie. Chovy can clap rookie in a mirror matchup, he has superior mechanics. It would've been better to put sword on tanks to lane safely with theshy and just scale up.
