Huge recommendation for Wayne. Among the most influential mentors for me. Incredibly open minded and willing to help you with any trumpet problem you might have!
I highly recommend Wayne Cameron as a trumpet teacher, as I started studying with him over 45 years ago. He was able to take me from a "pretty good" high school player, admitted into music conservatory, to a Bachelor degree at that conservatory, then onto a 40+ year professional playing career. He is an amazing diagnostician!
Great channel, Wayne! Brought back many happy memories of studying with you in high school and college in the 90’s. You were the first one to talk to me about the importance of not “playing in the red,” tongue arch, maintaining a firm and supportive embouchure, and a thousand other things. And you also supported and encouraged my piano playing, which meant the world. Much gratitude and continued success to you! 🙏
I’ve been in awe of Wayne since 1976! As a teacher at Peabody, as a mentor and advisor, as a musician and as an aesthete…and lastly as a valued irreplaceable university colleague. Did you also know that he’s a remarkably gifted and expressive Conductor as well? He has made a life’s study of every aspect of the Art of the Trumpet, most especially troubleshooting and fixing severe problems and proactively preventing others. And he is non pareil in his knowledge of musicianship and artistic interpretation. We’re all fortunate that he’s sharing with us the knowledge of a lifetime. I used to seek him out in the lounge at Peabody and just ask him about music and so on. What I learned informally was more valuable to me than the degree that I received.
Priceless. I only wish a video like this was available to me 30 years ago, when I was desperately looking for a magic fix for my problems with range/endurance! I’ve been fortunate to have studied with him to learn this firsthand, but just taking what he says here to heart and applying it to your practice routines will alleviate those physical issues with playing. 👍
Hi, Wayne! So happy that I happened on this video. Just to let you know I am so proud to see your success as the the fantastic musician that you always have been. While you look and even sound a bit different, your passion is still there. I wish you the very Best Always, Jean D. G.
I'm searching for the music of The Chesapeake Bay Brass Quintet when you were with them. It was a sampling of a few songs. Does it still exist? It was Fantastic!!
