Farmer Manuel is over 60 years old and fully retired, yet he continues to plant trees. Not for himself, but for future generations. He remembers how rich the landscapes of his home region once were - now he feels it’s his turn to give back to nature and to those coming after him.
Thanks to follower Druidward for noticing:
At 4:15, the translation is wrong. He said: "[...] we have a book of 70 PAGES on practices of regenerative agriculture." , not "70 PRACTICES".

More trees for Spain 👍🏼
Just a comment for the algorithm - good work, Ecosia!
Thanks
And another one
Me too 🙋🏼♀️
Inspiring Manuel! I have seen first hand the south east Spanish landscape and it been very badly treated.. Very good to see Manuel rengerating his land because it can be such a beautiful place with trees , native plants and lots of biodiversity! Thank you.
It is so important to see, that we can make the change and that it's in our own hands!
A modern day Ricardo Cordorinu. I hope your project is as successful as the beautiful Sierra Espuna in Region de Murcia. Well done. I love coming to Spain in the spring for hiking holidays in the Sierra Espuna. I love walking in the countryside when the Almonds are in bloom. I remember growing up in Australia in the 1970's and they had the same problem of erosion due to clearing bushland for farming. The world needs to wake up and take care of the environment.
His retired and he is old,
But he still keeps the word safe
- Me.
I wish more people cared about preserving nature because we only have one home here on earth and we should definitely not let it rot like this
Spectacular, what just one man's vision can achieve! bravo!
Thank you Manuel.. 🙏
A comment for the algorithm and for more trees in the south of Spain! ¡Saludos!
Thank you cousin.
This is beautiful. Thanks for letting us see yours and your inspiring partners' work in action
ecosia we love you
And we love you back! Thanks for the support and for watching!
You are not alone. I do it in South East Poland
Big respect
🇪🇸 😍 What a general. Manuel El Capitan!
Well done
¡Que hermoso! Really beautiful video!
En route pour les 1M d'abonnés !
Make ECOSIA Tees cheap in India, so we can create more awareness about it here!🇮🇳 Thank you so much!🤍
All their merchandise more easily available world wide would be awesome!
great video!!
Planting for farming is not the best ... WILD FOREST!!! you Guys From Ecosia should target and fund some project live those too.
You didnt mention that ploughing is the number one problem along with deforestation.
Go.
Comment for algorithm.
I was planted 6 trees in my home.
Los árboles son vida
amazing!
so beautiful!! ty!
so thoughtful, so kind. Wow. This man did something!!
(also I'm wondering why caption and description box are German when everything is English? :) xxo
I see the caption in French ! It adapts to the language of your computer :)
❤❤❤
Commenting for the algorithm
I like this❤️
just commenting for the algorithm
Can we start using circles instead of lines, they're so ugly so unnatural, even the shape of a wave is better🇨🇦
Nice Video
Thanks :)
😍💖
If only more people had this vision in mind. So thoughtful.
There is no great vision here, no new thinking, its all just plant trees, simplistic system thinking and there will be no different results to what others have tried in the past to heal the environment. The country of Spain and any other country in the world that are located in a brittle environment, will keep deteriorating until they understand how to deal with complexity.
The ocean is not natural.
This is all the water from all the forests burnt, cut down, or source of water exposed to the air when the mountains were destroyed by erosion.
Then the glaciers melting with all the pyrocumulus created by the fire of the humans...
You have NO IDEA how the earth has been destroyed, this is far beyond what you can imagine.

I’ve sworn my life to do the very same before I die
@Gustav
You are wrong beyond belief. Parasitic mindset.

Start with the monetary system and the small tribe that controls it. All problems emanate from that!
One in ten would be more than enough to bring about huge change! That would then inspire more and more to join in. Coming together in community with the common purpose of leaving a legacy for the children, is a powerful message if we all voice it!!
Human nature being what it is:
We don't so much need more who think like him but more who _act_ like him.
Glad to know there are people in my country (Spain) who are taking action to solve Spain's drought problems.
So sorry to bother you but there is a YT channel, Granja Caimito who is building and greening his farm. Maybe that's something for you.
Ole Manuel! Bien hecho y muy bien explicado. Hay futuro en el campo.
Make green the new black!
I though Europeans were the now black.
Jesus Christ is coming. He will restore things, and make them even better.
Let's take care of our neighbor, who least he has ... NOBODY has been left in misery or bankruptcy, to share. It is time to change our focus, and focus on God.
May the Lord bless you, CHRIST IS COMING!
Are you trying to say we're wasting our time caring for God's creation ? I hope not.
@@thiebautjoel
Totally wrong. What I said is to care for creation entirely, that includes your neighbor.
God bless
I'm an agriculturist and I hope to do as good as this man has done for his community and out planet! ❤️
Thanks for watching and for your agricultural practices :) Cheers!
you will! i believe in you
115 million trees, one more every 0.8 seconds. As an onion, I approve
Unfortunately, that value has decreased. Now its 1 tree every 1.3 seconds. I dont know why
@@EBBKouper due to covid-19 crisis, advertisers invested less in advertising through Ecosia. And because of that Ecosia had to plant less trees than before.
@@EBBKouper Hi there! Thanks for watching (and for paying such close attention to our tree counter). Here's a note on that on our blog: blog.ecosia.org/a-note-on-our-tree-counter/

Hi there, not in Spanish but certainly in Spain, this is a starting project YT channel Granja Caimito
As a Spanish person, thank you for helping our country! I've been using ecosia for a while, but now I have even more reasons to do so :)
Hi there, maybe the YT channel Granja Caimito is something for you.
This is an inspiration. Planting in that area not only helped the soil, the animals, and the air, it also helped the people.
Brilliant! Just brilliant!
He is just one man making a massive impact.
Agreed, that you and I can do the same..
Only when natural disasters strike that we all realise how important and crucial trees are to the health of the planet. Once again thank you Ecosia.
I wonder who disliked a video of an old man helping out the world by planting trees
He made me smile and have more faith in humanity 😊
¡Gracias Valerie!
The interesting part in my opinion is the fact, that the landscape and weather influence each other.
Well observed, J K. Perhaps this video would interest you too: ua-cam.com/video/ylkWpE89nn8/v-deo.html
Bravo Ecosia! I've had your app installed for about 2 years - courtesy of a recommendation from the Jimmy Dore Show - I am busy detoxing my life for my grandsons future. This man is an inspiration - your projects are inspirational - thank you x
I always love hearing stories of people who are doing the work to save so much. He's right when he says "People think it's always been this way, so they accept it"
We have to remind ourselves of the beauty our planet is capable of. The beauty that we can actively be a part of and that will improve our lives in so many ways.
Of course Ecosia itself is a beautiful project.
Here I want to say I'm also a big fan of the video-concept. Just letting the local guy talk about what's going on. Focussing on the size of the problem, but definitely also showing his vision of a better future and how to work towards it day by day.
Truly inspiring.
Well said Cleyn, Well I’m Grace what about you?
Exelente trabajo Manuel!
The sad reality was that young people living there accepted the poor landscape as it is because they never had the chance to see it as green as Manuel saw it before. Thankfully, Manuel is bringing the greenery back the way he and his ancestors had lived with.
Thank you for all your hard work! It seems like it's starting to make good :)
It's not 70 practices, it's 70 pages of regenerative agriculture techniques
if everyone was this kind the crime rate would probably go down by 100%
Then it wouldn't help you to break down crime states by race.
Sure everybody could dig in the ground and grow Food and make compost and so soil etc I hope the project work. Would like to buy a good piece of land there to plant 🪴 trees as pensionada
Very cool... I love the way he thinks and how he thinks about making the future better even though he may not be around to see the results.
All I have to do is continue using the Internet with Ecosia and I can help save the planet? Amazing.
I wish more people would think and act like him.
"We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children"
May we all be so devoted to healing the earth. This rules.
I love this video! I really believe that regenerative agriculture can save the planet.
Thanks for watching, Ali! Perhaps this video would be interesting to you too? ua-cam.com/video/TPkXAi_IKwQ/v-deo.html
one of the most important actions for regenerative agroforestry production would be utilizing swales on contours and ridgepoint dams and dams connecting swales through out the system and growing staple food trees on those swales and around the dams preventing as much evaporation an encourgaing as much land rehydration as possible.... there is no thriving life without ample water Geoff Lawtons work along with others with Permaculture is thee most vital thing to save ourselves from ourselves!
Always gives me hope seeing people like him and knowing there are many more like him.
Here's hoping he gets to live to see his vision come true. :)
Exactly my view. I don't live in a degraded landscape but I am researching food security without degrading the landscape. I will build a forest that provides a diverse array of food for me and the wildlife.
It's just it's beautiful that's what it is thankyou Manuel and Ecosia! We stan! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thanks for watching, Zahida!
@@Ecosia my pleasure, guys!
So important to plant and keep the trees! Muchas gracias por concienciar a la gente!
They should import compost from Northern Europe, there's much to much there. But the most important thing is to stop the flow of water across the surface.
I could just cheer and dance with this man! This! This is the future!
It's unbelievable that a country like spain is not producing its own food because of bad agricultural decisions.
Thank you that 1 person has the clarity in thinking like this.
Precision farming is thing.
Very impressive, as long as we have people like this there is hope for a brighter future
Love you ECOSIA 😍

If everyone made some effort to plant trees, plant tree seeds and got others involved in this simple activity, our devastated areas would recover. But we seem to leave it to the few, like this man, to do all the heavy lifting, and it's a shame. We don't realize that our sheer numbers mean things get done, then we don't have to wait for the government or special groups to fix things that need it. People think sometimes that if they don't get paid to do something, they're not going to do it. We should get over that. The reward is in the doing. I see areas that had hurricanes years ago, still sitting in piles of downed trees, destroyed structures, debris, trash, etc. And I wonder why the people of that area don't come out and spend a couple of days cleaning it up. Fifty or so people can do an astounding amount of work in a short time. But so many say, "Why should I? It's not my debris. It's not my home. It's not my street. It's not my problem." And even if it is, they often still don't do it, waiting for someone to come and do it for them. We miss the pleasure of accomplishment when we take that attitude.
Great work. It's a shame they planted the forests in such an artificial looking manner though. Should have done it more randomly.
I humbly applaud abybody prepared to do this incredibly important work. There surely can be no more a noble thing than reforestation of barren land.
Just planting trees blindly without looking at ecosystem functions is not gonna work, we need to understand how to deal with environmental, social and economical complexity to get some good long lasting results.
make the algorithm favor nature (again)
beautiful story, thank you. it was a great idea to use different varieties of a almond trees to suit the local climate, i hope more farmers can think outside the box like this
Thanks for watching, Liz and thanks for your comment. Glad to hear you liked the video, we'll keep sharing stories form our partners. Have a great start to the week.
It's great to see that something as simple as searching the internet can help save the planet.
