Always exciting to see that you have a new video out! (Fyi folks engagement helps boost videos in the algorithm, especially in the first few hours. I think this channel def deserves the views, if you agree maybe take a sec to like and comment)
Necromancy doesn't bother me because they deal in death, it's more that they deal with dead bodies without their permission. Also that they deal with putrefaction! I've often wondered if d&d zombies really have the original soul trapped in them, because many descriptions seem to imply that they don't but I wonder if that's just a form of misinfo used as a retroactive justification.
From what I can tell in the lore animated dead in DnD generally don't have the souls inside still. It's a sort of soul-shaped echo made of negative energy. Their real soul has moved on to whatever plane it's going to. There are a few exceptions to this (in the video I mentioned a skeleton where the soul is trapped in a gem).
5:17 - Er... why does the skeleton in the image have too many forearm and lumbar bones, not to mention a seriously messed-up tangle of ribs where its sternum should be? 🤨 I was honestly expecting its skull to reveal it's a dragonborn or whatever.
What is Zin-carla in your lore? I've never played DND, but I read Drizzt books. Zin-carla is risen from dead drow which is send to kill Drizzt, but it swordsman skills are limited by operators control forced on risen drow. It's great blessing of Lloth, and failing Zin-carla is very offensive to spider queen.
The elves have some unique necromancy stuff I need to look at in more detail, but generally speaking, if a god raises you fully sentient from the dead to be a champion, you're a death knight. This seems to be a catch-all term for a few unique phenomena that differ between patron gods. Maybe some others will have some more specific answers though. ^^
@@Lorepaedia i hear ya, i dont play the game but i like the books so i thought there' mighta been a pieces i was missing.... keep up the good work bro bro
Just found the channel, great quality. I bet if the videos were shorter they would get a lot more views. I will rarely have 2 hours to listen to a video, but often have 20 minutes.
Thanks for the feedback, I was doing shorter videos for a while and it seems like the algo liked the longer stuff, but I will probably try some shorter form videos in the future. I appreciate you checking out the channel and letting me know what you think!
Taven Winch with an adventurer in the adventurer's room: "Psssst..... Your floating flaming skull is in the room, and he is watching. Can't you like... Get him to leave?" Adevntuerer to the winch: "Yeaaaaaah..... He won't do that. But watch this. Flame skull... Summon Bass music and I call upon you to speak Berry White." Flaming skull: Begins the bass music as he begins to sing, "We got it together, didn't we We've definitely got our thing together don't we baby Isn't that nice I mean really, when really sit and think about it Isn't it really, really nice I can easily feel myself slipping In more and more ways That super world of my own Nobody but you and me We've got it together baby My first, my last, my everything And the answer to all my dreams You're my sun, my moon, my guiding star My kind of wonderful, that's what you are Tavern Winch: "Ohh....OOOohhhhh my......."
I would to see lore laying out how common necromancy is among magic wielders and how they effect the political economy of these fantasy realms. I could see a necromancer getting rich by enslaving the dead and working them until they fall apart.
Not sure if its still cannon (haven't played since 3.5) but Thay used undead for everything from farm labor to mining and construction. I doubt many regions would tolerate it openly but there's lots of room for a story there 👍
Thanks, I will try to work this into a video. As KS said Thay is good for this type of stuff, but there are a few other examples of civilizations that use undead in various ways. My Thay video sucks, I will remake it one day.
Finally, actual human speech.🌞👍
Thanks for listening to this human. :D
My new favorite channel. Nobody does lore like this. Brilliant!!!!!
Thanks so much!
One of the best D&D lore channels there is.
Thanks so much!
I appreciate the effort and detail you put into this. It deserves a few hundred thousand views, maybe more.
Thanks so much!
I listen to each more than once. The lore is pretty deep
I'm so happy to have found your lore channel! I can't wait to binge all of this while crocheting and campaign building.

this is great!! 😃 i love how in depth your videos are.

All i can think of when someone says necromancy is that runescape clip when the dude misspelled it and wrote negromancy.
Uncle Ruckus knows all about these dark arts.
Actually, black magic is also called nigromancy, so.. almost?
You could learn to brew purple grape drank, or even summon fried chicken.
Negromancy is a powerful school of magic indeed...
