Lawless is a spectacular story. I missed the boat not seeing this sooner. I would urge anyone who likes good story telling and great acting to see this wonderful film.
If you have not seen this movie I highly suggest it. It's a great story. Franklin and Floyd counties were overflowing with bootleg booze back in the day and today there are still some good liquor recipes to come from there, and even a taste from there I'm sure too !
Henry Abshire wasn't killed transporting a prisoner to Floyd County. He died of old age, 88 years old in 1958. He was my grandfather. Jeff Richards was the deputy killed in the ambush.
These were moonshiners, one of their grandsons is making, shine today and selling it at government stores, you can visit their still, and have a drink there.
My uncles and great uncle all made moonshine my great uncle made it all his life and never had a real job moonshine was his job and he was damn good at it always had plenty of money and did well for himself he was the biggest moonshine guy around our area
