How to calibrate your Touchless Digital Infrared thermometer. Calibration
Dikang Infrared Touchless Thermometer Tips and Instructions: It took me a bit of time to figure this out, especially changing from Celsius to Fahrenheit, so I thought I’d make a video for you to help save you time and frustration. A couple of extra tips:
1. It takes 2 AAA batteries and they go in opposite directions.
(So put one in with the plus side going down and the other with the plus side going up...if it doesn't work that way, switch them around in the opposite directions).
2. There are 2 main settings: "Surface" and "Body"...if you are measuring the temperature of a person's body, make sure the setting says "Body". For everything else use "Surface"

Right?! Adjusting it seems horrible. My temperature has never been 98.6 unless I’m verging on illness. This would wreck our thermometer for the others in our house.

I think you are slightly wrong about the calibration function. You need to take the body temperature with another thermometer that you know is giving an accurate result. For example one you put under the tongue. You then compare the result with the touchless meter and adjust the touchless so it reflects the "actual" result. You don't know/didn't know if your daughter's temperature was actually normal 98.6 at that stage so therefore you adjusted the Touchless to make it read correct! I hope I explained that in a way that you understand. The other point is - the red screen means that the temperature reading is above normal ie: fever level - it also has a yellow screen which means a low body temperature result. Green screen result is normal.

How did you know the 97.9 was not the correct reading and your correction made her higher than she actually was?
Did you know from previous reading of a accurate measuring device she was actually 98.6?
What I want to do is next time I visit a doctors office is to compare the reading I get then correct to match the Doctors office reading.
Is there a way to check degrees up to 350 to 500 ?
Your f1 shows 0.0 mine shows 28.4 and won't go down. I can't figure this thing out

Thank you for the video. Just one comment, I’m wondering if you checked her temperature with a thermometer to see if it really was 98.6. Your thermometer might be off now. I don’t know why you calibrated it to 98.6. She might be 97.9. I am most of the time.
Thanks, yes, you're right. I was just doing that as an example. If looking for precise measurements, it's best to calibrate using the Ice Water Method:
Fill a glass with ice cubes, then top off with cold water.
Stir the water and let sit for 3 minutes.
Stir again, then insert your thermometer into the glass, making sure not to touch the sides.
The temperature should read 32°F (0°C). Record the difference and offset your thermometer as appropriate.
My temp runs 97.something normally anyways
why does armpit temp goes above 100 f while forehead is 98 ish F
No help for me . When I hold the mode/set button it doesn't go to f1 2 or 3
I hold Set till it shows F1, then just press Set and with each push it changes to F2,F3,F4, off.
Boil water, it's 100c stat, calibrate on that

I"m not sure. Maybe take the batteries out for about 5 minutes and start over. I hope that helps.

Shouldn't you have measured with another thermometer that is accurate then put in the difference.?

Actually i tested this brand and it gives irrational numbers even after calibration , mine is of a better build quality which means they are all chinese knock offs , if you had tried on yourself in this video after calibrating it to your sweet daughter you would have found the discrepancy

Hello. Thanks for this great video. I have a question. My thermometer is stuck on memory data mode and only shows previous measurements. I can't get it to measure the temperature. Do you know how to change its mode back to measurement mode?
Why would you calibrate it to 98.7 if people are known to run hot or cold for their normal body temps?

helpful, but my gawd this thing is ridiculous, they couldnt make it any harder could they? U go too fast so I had to keep rewinding, and some of it didnt make any sense, not sure its all working right, these things are pretty stupid! Like when ur beaming it, it doesnt beep to tell its done, yes I have the beep mode on.
How do you wipe the memory of the previous stored data ? I think mine is giving inconsistent readings. Thank you # trying to stay healthy
My wife has one of these. She never tried it until today. It makes a whistling noise when the batteries are put in without it being switched on.
My F1 says 32.7 and i don’t know how to fix it . Any time I try to take temperature it just says LO

Thank you so much for doing this video. I thought that my thermometer which is a little different then yours but mostly the same only did calciols. But now I have it on my prefered Fahrenheit
The problem is that I am not feeling well, so I opened up the package to check my temp and now I can not calibrate it because I do not know whether I have a fever or not.
To calibrated ?would you use another thermometer or just a healthy child, and would i have to add one degree to the forehead reading results ?

Why is it so hard to open to put the battery in I got it open but to hard
I tried to return and they told me to watch your video. This does not work for me. When I get to F3 and hit up and down arrows it stays C and moves .05, .06, etc or -.02,-.03 etc. F NEVER shows as an option. Very frustrated.

But it keep saying everyone is98.7
I'm having an issue I didn't see addressed in the video. Where I use a thermometer is where people are coming in out of the cold weather. So when I take the temperature, it registers as a red "Lo". Therefore, I'm not getting a reading at all. After their body warms up a little, I'm able to take the temperature. Therefore, people are having to wait, which is not ideal. Have you encountered this or do you have a solution?

My thermometer body is default on hi I was just messing with it and it's default is on hi always I don't know what to do now
This was immediately better than any instructions that I could or could not find online...all I needed was to find out how to set to Fahrenheit and this was perfect. Thank you. One thing tho its telling me that we all have 103 fevers . Not true. My manual thermometers all read normal for us. Please help
You'll probably want to calibrate your thermometer using the Ice Water Method:

Stir the water and let sit for 3 minutes.
Stir again, then insert your thermometer into the glass, making sure not to touch the sides.
The temperature should read 32°F (0°C). Record the difference and offset your thermometer as appropriate.
@@ErinHealer i didn't think the would read that low. surface mode can be calibrated too and did that translate to body mode? I've always wondered why body mode and surface mode would be different readings

I have this same one and changed the batteries it loads up a few numbers i guess its the date then it just quits and wont do nothing, brand new batteries to and the unit is not very old I suppose i need to just toss it and get a new one

98.6 is normal human body temp so she set it at that

Hi, thanks for your question. I'm not an opthalmologist, but I read a few articles on the topic and they said that there is absolutely no need to worry, your eyes are not in danger when using an infrared thermometer. :)
I would NOT even beam this at the forehead, use it on the wrist or the armpit!
