I love how disappointed that Gurkha looked when he found out he wasn't going to actually get to engage the enemy.

Jake Richards I'm sure the Argentine's were relieved. From what I gather, the Gurkha's bring a 'psychological warfare' of their own. Certainly, my grandfather had a lot of respect for them; he fought in WW2 Burma in the Royal Artillery, alongside the Gurkhas.

+Jake Richards Actually there is something britain is not telling us there, did the gurkas fought or not? according to argentina they did, and they died by dozens, according to britain they didn't but then you get acros with videos like this one, " Gurkha veterans' toughest battle"

+Valeria Cecilia Castiglione Hm, that's interesting... Wouldn't that actually mean sending in the Gurkha's first during the war? Strangely enough, they didn't see any action during the war.
Besides, their lives are improved ten-fold in comparison to the quality of life in Nepal.
Now, shoo away. I don't like racists.

Precisely, the Gurkhas did fuck all, it was the Brits who won the war so perhaps you should pay tribute to them rather than a bunch of mercenaries.

Special Android: Gurkhas would've had to get past the 35mm anti aircraft guns being redeployed on Port Stanley western outskirts facing Wireless Ridge. General Jofre also had an entire company of the 25th Ranger Regiment facing 2 Para on Wireless Ridge, so Gurkhas woul've suffered heavy casualties & forced to retreat.

well South Americans used to cut the hearts out of people alive and thought torture was an "art".But that was before the Europeans came and Most of the South Americans are of European descendants. And if Argentina did win I can bet you they would keep bringing it up you would be a fool not to believe that.18 year old are not "boys" they are adults that should know right from wrong they joined up and were threat to our people so they lost their lives.I respect they done it to serve their country but they were put down. And it's the Argentinians thst still shout Malvinas ect. They should move on to.Most of South America is a third world shit hole they are killing themselves because of drug wars.

We stole islands which were already ours to begin with? How does that work? We put up our flag and left a plaque to let everyone that lands know who's they are. You landed and we kicked you off. Sovereignty isn't just about putting up a flag and calling it yours, it's about colonization and being able to defend your territory and colony, both of which Britain has done. So, it is you who needs to research your history my friend.

Yellow ripped eyes here travel the Ghurkas!!!
      LOW IN REAL SCOTTISH TUMBLEDOWN.
Album dedicated to the research of the Scottish casualties in the Tumbledown Battle, which had outstanding participation BIM5 Argentine sailors.
The debate arises from the assertion of the Argentine commander who questioned the actual British casualties in a battle of great magnitude against the Scottish Guards. Other sources cite that also included the Gurkhas Rifles and other units minimizing the performance of the Guardia Scottish. Newspapers, films, books and British testimonies contradict the above, and Argentina part raises the low figure of 9 to at least 300.
Whether or not the two sides highlighted the heroism and courage quotas by both fighters in a fierce battle, which was the closing of the Argentina defense after weeks of fierce combat.
The top of a newspaper headline: "The last men at home." In a truck they are transported less than a dozen bodies of the Scots Guards who perished in one of the last battles for Puerto Argentino.

My Dads mate was telling a story of his time as a C-130 Flight Engineer. Apparently he landed in Stanley two days after the surrender and decided to go wandering. He ended up in some posh garden with a bloke asking him if he wanted a beer, he said sure and it looked like a nice party was forming. Eventually some Major walked up to him and said "Flight Sergeant have you got an invite to be here?" As it turns out it was Rex Hunt hosting a party for the brass that he had wandered into. He reckons he got about half a dozen beers under his belt and an officer let him leave with some brandy to take back to the rest of his crew!

The Islands have been British sovereignty for a significant periods in history. We explored them in the 1600s, settled in the 1700s. Left in 1820s because we had an Empire to run, fought a WW1 battle their "Battle Of The Falklands" against the Germans. Falklands have always been British, Argentina only used the islands as a salient issue for their dictatorship. Today, Argentina is a beautiful country, and have wonderful people.

Pablo Nero yeah, they might could resist for some time pretty well but in the end British would eventually won, as the argentines were mostly young low motivated soldiers who would have given everything just not to be there, and all of them were forced to go on the front, while british forces were volontueer who were willing to go there and die for they're country. Secondly, the British were way more comfortable with such climate then the argentines as there were many scottish foughted there and basically the Falkland Islands had more in common with Britain (especially scotland for both climate and nature) than everything. And lastly, British soldiers were way more trained, had way more good food, and also payment than the argenines, as the argentines soldiers were payed very less or not payed at all, they also had a very bad equipment and very less good food

Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves!
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.
When Britain first, at heaven's command,
Arose from out the azure main,
This was the charter of the land,
And Guardian Angels sang this strain:
    (Chorus)
The nations not so blest as thee
Must, in their turn, to tyrants fall,
While thou shalt flourish great and free:
The dread and envy of them all.
    (Chorus)
Still more majestic shalt thou rise,
More dreadful from each foreign stroke,
As the loud blast that tears the skies
Serves but to root thy native oak.
    (Chorus)
    Thee haughty tyrants ne'er shall tame;
All their attempts to bend thee down
Will but arouse thy generous flame,
But work their woe and thy renown.
    (Chorus)
    To thee belongs the rural reign;
    Thy cities shall with commerce shine;
All thine shall be the subject main,
And every shore it circles, thine.
    (Chorus)
The Muses, still with freedom found,
Shall to thy happy coasts repair.
Blest isle! with matchless beauty crowned,
And manly hearts to guard the fair.
    (Chorus)
Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves!
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

It's one of the reasons the US continued developing the Phalanx CIWS, seeing just how hard it was to defend ships against accurate air to surface missile systems. The fact was that the best anti-air tech of the day was frankly ineffective against even moderately good warplanes, pilots and ASMs.
Given all the advantages the Argentines had, it's remarkable that they lost. They planned poorly and had weak infantry who surrendered quickly. After British troops landed, the Argentines were doomed.

Note also that the pride of the Argentine fleet, the supposedly fearsome Belgrano, was sunk with incredible ease by HMS Conqueror, with far more lives lost than all British ships combined. LONDON (AP) _ Britain would not have recaptured the Falkland Islands from Argentina in 1982 without U.S. military assistance, former U.S. Navy Secretary John Lehman was quoted Sunday as saying.
in a British Broadcasting Corp. television interview to be broadcast Wednesday night, Lehman also says U.S. involvement in the Falklands war led indirectly to the Irangate scandal, the Observer newspaper reported.
The weekly said Lehman’s interview will be included in the latest episode of ″An Ocean Apart,″ a BBC documentary series on British-American relations.
″Britain would have had to have withdraw from the Falklands″ if the Reagan administration withheld support, it quoted Lehman as saying.
U.S. military aid in the 74-day war, in which Britain recaptured the South Atlantic archipelago from invading Argentine forces, has been a closely guarded secret, the Observer said.
″Lehman is the first senior U.S. official to claim that the Pentagon’s supplies of intelligence and material were so great as to have been decisive,″ it said.

I am Peruvian I had the Racso and T-Rex atomic bomb user I used to watch videos of military themes
The Peruvian government, the armed forces of Peru and the Peruvian people must pressure Pedro Castillo to apologize to England for saying in the UN that the Malvinas are Argentine Peru must be neutral and never again get involved in the Malvinas conflict, because I will tell you this that surprised everyone the Englishman Martin George Guisse was born in Gloucestershire England,
a family of the local nobility was the son
of Lady Elizabeth Wright and Sir John Guisse first baronet, the Englishman Martin George Guisse was the first founder of the Peruvian Navy and, in December 1821, he was decorated by San Martín with the brand new Order of the Sun, along with other Englishmen such as Guillermo Miller, Robert Forster and Diego Paroissien, the English Guisse rose through the ranks to officer in the British Royal Navy, where he served during the Napoleonic wars, once the war in Europe was over, he resigned from the British navy and bought his own ship to depart for Latin America and take part in the wars of independence,
Guisse's great-grandson is the Peruvian aviator hero Jorge Chavez,
After having settled in our national territory, San Martín appointed him rear admiral of the newly created Peruvian navy and he participated in the blockade of the port of Callao, until it was interrupted by a Spanish naval expedition, after this confrontation was unfinished he decided to go to Guayaquil where, after the war broke out with Gran Colombia, he fought and took the port of Guayaquil, but at the price of his life. He died in Guayaquil one night on November 23, 1828, his body was
taken to Callao in Peru, in case of war England against some other country the Peruvian government and Peruvian president must support England and deliver heavy war material,
give fighter jets and send Peruvian soldiers to the English armed forces in gratitude to England because England financed the independence and liberation of Peru, the British also helped the Argentine José de San Martín, the English founded everything in Peru cities, companies, banks ,
freemasonry, inka kola drink, they made soccer popular in Peru, schools,
and many more things, etc. the Peruvian people must apologize to England and to the English people we are in time to strengthen the economic and military alliance, without England Peru would not exist and neither would the Peruvians exist, without the English we are nothing, without England Peru would continue to be a colony of Spain, thank you England for financing and liberating Peru in its independence, England, English people, José de San Martín Argentine people will continue to be the liberators of Peru today and always

+andrew Lewis The British Army, before the Italians in North Africa, before the French with the fall of Paris and before the Russians in Operation Barbarrosa, were the first to surrender en masse in WW2 when 350,000 men of the BEF quit fighting and ran to the British evacuation ships at Dunkirk and elsewhere, leaving behind 213 heavy tanks and 618 light tanks, 20,000 motorcycles and 2,500 atillery guns and worse still, suffering only 3,500 killed, half aboard the British evacuation ship 'Lancastria' meaning way less than 1% of the British Expeditionary Force went down fighting, so much for the British 'bulldog spirit'. When you compare the BEF and the Italian losses during Operation Compass, you realize General Graziani's 10th Army showed more fighting spirit during Operation Compass, losing more men killed and wounded in real combat, fighting for a much longer period and losing less tanks, motorcycles, truck, artillery guns, etc.

If Italy and Britain had fought each other without the US siding with Britain and without Germany siding with Italy, there is now way in the world Britain would've won. Britain betrayed the French during the Battle of France running to the evacuation ships, raping the local French women and children while the Belgian and French divisions stalled the advance of the German Army. With Britain defenceless after the Dunkirk fiasco, the US had to rush in ships packed with weaponry to re-equip the British Army that had even left all their Lee Enfield rifles in France.

It's the only major conflict that pitched sea power against air power with guided ordnance. Conclusion? It's very hard to defend your ships against air-launched guided ordnance. Sea Cat was only partially effective, although more effective than many people realize because it forced the Argentine pilots to stay low and use bombs most of the time, which in combination with...

As an ex British officer of the era, I just love the defiance displayed by an Argentine NCO from 8min 30sec with the punch point at 8min 44sec. A proud people who fought well, sadly for the wrong reason.
