    I was with my mom when she was taking her last breath and seeing that I’m not afraid of death anymore. I feel like she went somewhere maybe that’s just too calm my broken heart, but wherever she went, I will go and I am not afraid.

    LOVED the empathy part. I never even thought about the whole language part and how we just had to rely on trying to sense or feel what are our peers felt. AMAZING

    Stoicism is useful to anyone who takes the time to apply it's lessons. Only good can come from controlling your mind and not letting the emotions of others control you. Great collab and information... It's greatly appreciated

    I found you after I have been listening to Robert Greene for so long. Thanks to the algorithm of UA-cam it was indeed Jordan Peterson's content that showed me Robert. I am now introduced to you. Each of you have so much to give to the world and have helped have a deeper impact in my life. Greetings from France to both of you, MERCI 🙏🏼

    Death is naturally a bit frightening because we don’t know when, where or how. Greene says it so profoundly. It’s the ultimate freeing feeling if you can accept death as the certainty that it is.

    MR. CLUTCH! What a way to put the team on your back and clutch it out last night in SF! Awesome lecture from a true Stoic. Guy Raz did an excellent job last night navigating the lecture. We will pray for Robert’s speedy recovery. It was an honor to meet you and to be in the presence of a Master and Robert’s apprentice. Thank you Ryan, you are indeed changing lives for the better. Thank You 🙏

    Once I got into stoicism I realized that to bang in life, is just to use gray straight square techniques created by people from the beginning of humanity. So if you want to do something learn some of these techniques.

    The Human species leaning deeper to learn about their own mortality I find is very important, not just to know as just some axiom stored somewhere in the brain library but to really feel the and reflect on. I highly suggest reading Ernest Becker's book "the denial of death" because it really humbled me and changed my perspective on what it is to live, feel and act.
    Modern society is very neurotic and hedonistic nowadays and I think it's party due to our ignorance of our mortality; We push our neuroticism onto others who we feel "lesser than" and we dilute the concept of mortality by covering it up by hedonistic pleasures and delving into worlds which our not our own... Books, movies, video games, doom scrolling, researching our favourite celebrities (not me but some people).
    It is good to understand the world as an abstract disconnected observation to gain insight but we also need to experience it with humility and mass realness... Carpe diem! Memento Mori!
    Ps: Yet again I thank you for your Wisdom Robert and Ryan, You seem to be some of the greatest minds of this era;
    I wish you people safety and protection.

    Empathetic conscious intelligence is indifferent like a robot, like our cell intelligence is aware of itself and other cells, they even communicate. Empathy with compassion and sympathy is the ability to feel others suffering and the ability to place ourselves in their viewpoint/standpoint.

      Robots and psychopaths are aware of themselves and surroundings, others and objects, they are able to navigate around objects etc. Even aware of others behaviour, but not necessarily their inner feelings. Empathy without compassion is awareness.

    I'm almost positive without knowing for sure, but my assumption is that someone has already asked the question here before. What astrological sign is more prone to being Stoic?
    With Robert Greene talking about empathy, and it being such a key indicator to stoicism, my thought is that Scorpios might be the most classical stoic.
    Many of the astrological signs are very lacking in what it would take to be a stoic.
    What is everyone's feeling in this?

      I believe Capricorn and Cancer may be the most empathetic.
      I was married and have been with a Scorpio man for 30 years and he is the least empathetic person I have ever met.

    • @elisaquinzi2021
      @elisaquinzi2021 Рік тому

      hello dave. as an astrologer i can answer your question. capricorn would certainly be considered the most stoic as saturn rules capricorn and saturn is the planet of discipline, structure, restrictions, boundaries, preparation, commitment, delaying gratification, and solitude. interesting that you brought it up because i have just recently become interested in stoicism being aware that i am enduring two major saturn transits at this time in my life. so i very much need to learn and integrate all of these qualities. btw, a person might not be a capricorn sun sign, but might have their moon in capricorn, or have saturn prominantly placed in their chart..such as conjunct the ascendant or sun.

    • @lingofabri4651

      The kind of philosophy that Ryan and Robert are trying to share is practical and aplicable in our daily life, might be no for people who studies this area in a deeper way. Also, most of the Ryans philosophies cames from Marcus Aurelios, Seneca, Epictetus,etc. If you are saying this is commercial philosophy, then, all the lessons of this great man are too.

    • @Gruso57
      @Gruso57 Рік тому +12

      So are you basing this off of what "someone" said? Or are you thinking for yourself?
      Ive read almost all of Ryans Books as well as source material. Last year I read Meditations, Letters of a Stoic, and Discourses. All 3 major Stoic works and Ryan presents pieces of each and more in a very digestable way.
      My advice is to read the philosophy first then Ryans works. However, calling it "commercial philosophy" is a bit disingenuous and insulting to the time and effort he puts into his books.

      @Gruso I have read ryans book. He just regurgitates ideas in a simplier way. Which is fine if you can't handle the source material, but regardless he has nothing new to say and will not be read in future years as part of the philosophical canon. Which is fine - I was just urge people to get away from all these "self help" philosophers and into primary texts as soon as possible
