I really hope your channel gets the amount of subscibers it deserves. You are like the "Robin Hood of Chess": stealing from the rich and the evil (cheaters and opening tricksters) and giving to the poor by learning us how to properly handle a bow and arrow. I love the Speed Run series and immensely enjoy your puns, whits and... your beautiful English accent. You sir, are a class act!
I just wanted to chime in to say that I really like these speedruns you do with lower rated players. I learn so much more this way as you explain all your principals so nicely at this level. Also like the 5min games, as I feel its the perfect amount of time to be able to explain what you're doing but at the same time the videos don't drag. Thank you so much, and hope you do more of these lower-rated games in the future.
Love these speed runs at this rating! You are the only GM I've seen that I'd want to have a beer with, you seem like a super cool humble down to earth guy. I was actually watching an earlier video at work when you said "premature attackulation" & I literally spit my coffee out laughing. Cheers 🍻
I watched the first of this series and was hooked by the openness of you review of mistakes. So in with the like and subscribe and looking forward to the next episodes.
Thank you Simon! I learn so much from these videos. My favorite series on UA-cam. It is the right amount of time for me to watch one a day and then I can play a game with what I just learned. Keep it up.
I find this community lovely. Been following you for 8 years now. I relate to Simon. I, too, suffer from prematureattackulation and it effects my loved ones. There’s no meds for it. My fastest attack was 2 moves and it didn’t go well. My GF saw it and thought I couldn’t perform well. It effects me to this day.
I've never been able to follow such quick narrative until this channel. I can follow the narrative (I'm only a 1258 player). So thanks so much for this classic channel!
That first game...the player played way, way above her rating. Really impressive or puzzling or something. I'm around 1600 and would not have done nearly as well.
Really loving this series! I hope you'll get more subscribers, perhaps it will come faster with content like this, aimed at practically educating the majority of your subscriber-base which would be under 1500 elo I guess. About the Stafford Gambit, yeah I totally agree and see your point about not making trappy openings your main repertoire. But the Stafford is certainly in a different league than for instance the Englund Gambit. The Stafford does not rely on one or two lines in order for it to work, but it has a lot of practicality and venom in it. Even if you don't get to the Stafford Gambit Accepted, then you still have great prospects of getting good positions (and traps) in lets say the italian, the three knights game, etc which can transpose to stafford-like attacks
@3:06 superior control of the dark squares. With black having a locked in bishop. Such a strucure must be like playing with one less piece unless you require the lose of a tempo, then shuffling the bishop back and forth is thr solution. White also controls the diagonal finishing at h7. If black castles Simon will relish a bishop clearance sacrifice. The black knights are also tripping over each other in the centre. It is a horrible knott to be in. White's only weakness is the doubled pawn which can not be attacked other than through black using to many moves or creating a structural pawn weakness.
"Screw checkmate, let's get 5 rooks."?. I'm stunned the Ginger did this classless move. I instant block anyone who does this. I'm embarrassed when I have to promote because I can't mate fast enough. But doing it just to humiliate opponent? Wow. Didn't know that's how the Ginger rolls.
I tried the London for quite a while but always lost more than I won. Never seem to do well with d4 openings. This has inspired me to give it another try though. Can't keep on with e4 forever!
Very useful, and probably best material to learn how to improve at chess, thanks. I found it funny how he gets pissed at the guy playing the Englund Gambit. That's actually one of my favorite openings with black. I won a lot of games using it, even with 1600-1700 opponents. My general idea after Nc6 is to play d6 and hope that white capture my pawn. If they do I can play Bxd6 and later, after developing the light square bishop to f5 or g4, I play Qe7, and long castle with potential discover attack of the rook to the queen once the bishop on d6 moves. It's surprising how many times white misses the discovered attack. If played in fast blitz or bullet, where my opponent has little time to think, it can be fun. Ok, it's not great chess, but who cares. But maybe after listening to GingerGM's opinion I'll drop it :/
I’m never one to comment, but I’d like to say that I do very much enjoy your channel. Keep going - the content is great and hopefully you will get the subscribers you deserve! Just as a suggestion, but could you play the same openings in every stream? I think it would help the learning as we would get used to the ideas - better to stick to an opening when you first start out as you say!
Hi! Really enjoyed the videos and I'm very happy you're playing a variant of the London. I'm finding the 5 minutes videos to be a too quick! Would it be possible to do 10 minutes games?
Its speed run bro... He already have a series on long time control where he plays and share his idea... Aslo if 10 min games are played here then there will be only 1 or 2 games that we can get in 1 video..
Simon you are in the range where people allow c6 followed by b5 in the Black Lion and then waste quite some moves with their light squared Bishop. Could you please mix in a few Black Lion games so we can have a peek on how to profit most from these mistakes?
@@thecray ya I like Daniels channel for sure. Check out kingcrusher’s videos where he analyzes GM games, he goes pretty deep in a way that’s easy to understand. Low production value but great content
Snail run?!? How long do you think it takes the average mortal to gain 1000 ELO? 😤 All kidding aside I’m really enjoying this series and looking forward to more. Thanks for all you do for the chess community Simon, you’re a rock star 🤩
I'd love you to pick apart one or two of my daily games - I'm 1300 - I'm always looking in the post-game analysis and thinking, why the f* would stockfish do that? I'm too slow to play blitz :)
#forthealgorithm Hurray, go Simon. I'm experimenting with 1e4 2f4 3b4 against most everything with 1 2 or 3 c5 with the plan to rook sac on a3 for black's king's bishop replacing it with my Queen's bishop preventing casseroles, kestrels, car sales, that king rook switcheroo cheat move. Terrible idea, but it works.......kinda.
true but it's too passive. for black, c5 is the main break in the position so there's no point wasting a move with c6. Pinning the knight with the Bb5, for example, would stop the threat without wasting a tempo
Nb5 could be countered by Na6, in the opening its better to develop your pieces. Plus move c5 is very tematic, you can find it in a lot of the openings with similar structures. It is one of the best ways to contest the opponent center pawn with your side pawn, which is good
You say all those sensible things in the stream, but then you go ahead and contradict yourself by invariably playing rubbish like the Hillbilly (I've never seen you play anything else) against the Caro-Kann. Sending such mixed messages to impressionable learners make you very hard to trust.

It’s at least a little bit funny that he’s like “Englund Gambit is trash!” and then proceeds to do twenty moves of theory in his head

A big thank you to you Simon, Over the last few weeks my Chess is improving after coming back after 40 years away. Cheers 👍👍👍
I understand your struggles. My son got me playing about 2 years ago after not playing for 2 decades. The GINGER GM is one of favorites!
Really, the camera needs to be panned down a tad to allow us to appreciate the fullness of that legendary beard.
It's always such fun and pleasure watching @GingerGM playing and teaching. GM who plays this game the way it is meant to be played.
Love these speed runs at this rating! You are the only GM I've seen that I'd want to have a beer with, you seem like a super cool humble down to earth guy. I was actually watching an earlier video at work when you said "premature attackulation" & I literally spit my coffee out laughing. Cheers 🍻
I literally choked on my rice.

I know you were kidding, but I'll be your friend Simon! Would be super cool to be internet friends with a likable Grandmaster!
I love watching, and listening to you play chess. You come forth as a real ginger homie.
I've never been able to follow such quick narrative until this channel. I can follow the narrative (I'm only a 1258 player). So thanks so much for this classic channel!
The best way to avoid premature attackulation is to use lots of foreplay with your pieces.
That first game...the player played way, way above her rating. Really impressive or puzzling or something. I'm around 1600 and would not have done nearly as well.
Especially spotting that stalemate idea low on time
I'm glad you showed how to play the gambit at 19:38. The first time I attempted London jobova my opponent played the e pawn and queen moves.
Thanks for this series of videos!!! They are great!!
I am an old subscriber but i don’t follow the channel regularly but after watching this series i am more often following it . Great content
Sehr unterhaltsames und lehrreiches Video. Bitte mehr davon.
Simon i love your channel i bought your chessable courses and now my rating got a lot higher and i am realla getting better in blitz
Favorite chess account on UA-cam, hands down
Making chess fun as well as good, again! Very well done mate!
Thanks a lot for this series Sir 🙏
Best speedrun series out there this.
loved seeing the jobava in action.
premature attackulation, we've all been there
Love this series. Keep up the good work. Learning a lot from it.
I really appreciate this Series and your nice way of teaching.👍😊
Dude , keep going! Bro love these teaching videos! I also like it when you catch cheaters!
I play the King's gambit with white and the Caro Kann with black I would like to see you play those on the speed run
Really loving this series! I hope you'll get more subscribers, perhaps it will come faster with content like this, aimed at practically educating the majority of your subscriber-base which would be under 1500 elo I guess.

enjoying the explanations!

Great speedrun series SIR
I tried the London for quite a while but always lost more than I won. Never seem to do well with d4 openings. This has inspired me to give it another try though. Can't keep on with e4 forever!
Keep this up. Great content
More black lion games
Enjoy your streaming
Your attacking play has had a large effect on me playing more aggressive chess

these speedruns are awsome and worth their weight in gold
Very cool.like always, but you have to improve your sound.Really watch out your digital level and mic settings.
Simon you are in the range where people allow c6 followed by b5 in the Black Lion and then waste quite some moves with their light squared Bishop. Could you please mix in a few Black Lion games so we can have a peek on how to profit most from these mistakes?
You and kingcrusher are the best chess channels on UA-cam. It ain’t close
Daniel Naroditsky is the most informative imo, but goddamn GingerGM is easily the most entertaining.
@@thecray ya I like Daniels channel for sure. Check out kingcrusher’s videos where he analyzes GM games, he goes pretty deep in a way that’s easy to understand. Low production value but great content
All masters repeat that Staford gambit is bad, until played Dubov at high level and win.....
It looks to me like Simon recorded this immediately after a haircut, from the chair of Buzz Aldrin's Barbershop.
me at Rapid 823: wtf, those ~1000 players in Blitz are really strong.
I like kings gambit good development fo white and centre game is ok you get lots of pirc positions but your more general advice is well heard
This is Gold ❤️
I really like the London / Jobova as noob, but I'm told it's not good for tactics... any truth to that? Ruy Lopez better?
Snail run?!? How long do you think it takes the average mortal to gain 1000 ELO? 😤
All kidding aside I’m really enjoying this series and looking forward to more. Thanks for all you do for the chess community Simon, you’re a rock star 🤩
These videos are great
How can you talk non stop and play like this is beyond me... are you sure you're 100% human? 😸
Grandmaster teaching chess. Nice
@gingergm what gambits would you recommend?
can you please try some chess variants? like crazy house, atomic chess. thanks
"i cant checkmate with just two rooks" ??
what?!...lol
I'd love you to pick apart one or two of my daily games - I'm 1300 - I'm always looking in the post-game analysis and thinking, why the f* would stockfish do that? I'm too slow to play blitz :)

I love that you call your h pawn Harry. And I just realized why. Does the a pawn get a proper name, like Alberto or fat Albert?
Awesome!
Where's your regular Title Tuesday video?
Do you give feedback to your opponents after the games? Like telling them that they played good moves etc and telling them that they played a GM?
Love from India❤
Is the king's gambit really that dubious? Simon you've changed :'( still luv ya tho
10:34 you were critical of c6 but doesn't that stop Nb5?
true but it's too passive. for black, c5 is the main break in the position so there's no point wasting a move with c6. Pinning the knight with the Bb5, for example, would stop the threat without wasting a tempo

Cannot checkmate with two rooks? 18:00
Premature attackulation lol
Hello Harry Come on
666th like! I think I just premature attackulated
You say all those sensible things in the stream, but then you go ahead and contradict yourself by invariably playing rubbish like the Hillbilly (I've never seen you play anything else) against the Caro-Kann. Sending such mixed messages to impressionable learners make you very hard to trust.
The Hillbilly attack isn't a "trick opening" though.
