This is exactly why I hammer my BILT card every month. The pure value at the $5-10k point range is insane. And yes, if you want to level up just a little at $15k that’s still a good value. I’m now thinking about World of Hatt cards and the Chase trifecta to see if I can make a Hyatt mill work out.
I applied for the Hyatt business card on Monday, our last day at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. The experience convinced me my business credit cards for Hilton, Marriott, IHG, and Wyndham needed another team member.
With Hyatt, the status and perks to reach the status make sense. But Marriott has terribly bad milestones. I always wonder why people try so hard to reach higher status with them?
I am a Globalist and Hyatt is a great program. I have stayed at allot of different brands. My favorites are Andaz and Grand Hyatt so far. My only problem is no secure internet option at these properties which means I don’t have any internet access. Unlike Marriott and Hilton who gives secure internet to their elite members for free. Also think breakfast benefits should start when you reach explorist status.
I'm a Hyatt fanboy myself but disagree on one point. If you're not willing to spend $300 or $2500 on that hotel with your own hard-earned money then that is not the value to you. It's the value to someone but not to you. I spent $350 at the Ritz-Carlton Bali and I had a much better experience than at the $2,000 plus Ritz-Carlton in Kyoto. I wouldn't even pay $400 for the Kyoto one. I am seeing a lot of 1.1 per point Hyatt redemptions now in Southeast Asia so I prefer paying cash. IHG has been an incredible value in Asia.
I've also been looking at Southeast Asia and have been seeing that cash is the best option for a lot of places. I like to think that the cash out rate for my points is what I paid for my stay. So if I pay 30,000 points, I really paid $300 even if the property is listed at $1,500. I used to focus on cash back, so knowing the cash that I could have gotten for my points is what I see the "real" value of them being at.
I'm interested in how points/miles optimizers actually achieve globalist status. When I think about how many nights I'd have to pay cash for or how much spend I would have to put on a pedestrian Hyatt card, it just feels so much worse than getting some reasonable perks at Hilton just for having the card and then I can use all my other resources on actual free travel. Am I missing something?
You're not missing anything and Hyatt has been slowly devalued over the last few years globally, mostly due to points and Miles b/vloggers over hyping and advertising it.
There are many people who would do better if they didn't reach Globalist, but instead focused on staying at Hiltons and working on welcome offer vs spending on the Hyatt card to reach elite nights. There are ways to reach Globalist without losing out on value, but you have to be smart about it. I have a video on that topic coming out in the next few weeks, so be on the lookout.
Good video. Hyatt is the most common sense hotel chain in terms of loyalty partnerships. There are good amount of properties to acheive outsized value. My usual stays are one family vacation and one couple's trip. I like their properties, which was your number 5 reason. Additionally, I enjoy that the award chart is consistently updated around the same time of year. Other hotel and airline programs change their award chart without any advance notice. This allows me to plan my points earnings year so that I have enough for my planned trips. A fair criticism of mine is that there isn't good value on the All-Inclusive type properties. Also, their MMS partnership or Homes/Hideaways does not have the same level of value for points redemptions. The jury is out with regards to the Bahia Principe portfolio as to whether there will be any value in their properties.
Hyatt does a great job when it comes to giving their customers a heads up to changes, which is generous of them given how other programs are with their no notice changes. Mr. & Mrs. Smith properties drive me mad! The hotels themselves look nice, but it is just such a horrible deal for Hyatt points. I still love Hyatt, but I am very disappointed by that acquisition and integration.
These reasons mean nothing if you can’t find a Hyatt in the location you want. I often can’t find a [nice] Hyatt in a desirable location but can always find a Marriott or Hilton. Most of my Hyatt experience has been at their Hyatt House or Hyatt Place locations and they’ve just been OK. Maybe their properties are better internationally as you mentioned but domestically I’ll can’t understand the hype.
With the good deals does come limited award availability. Checkout the website MaxMyPoint.com . That website helps make it easier to find rooms open at different popular Hyatt properties.

If you want to redeem with Hyatt, Chase cards are the best earners for the program.
I feel like even as a Discoverist I'm treated pretty well as I usually get upgraded to better rooms, including ones with awesome views.
Awesome that you get upgrades even as a Discoverist! Hyatt is treating all of its members well 😁

Ha! Nice. I haven't been to that property yet, but I've heard great things.
Hyatt is the best! Great room for value.
Tons of value from Hyatt!! 🙌🏾
I just got the world of hyatt for this very reason. Hyatt's loyalty program and ease of redemptions make it my favorite hotel chain by far.
Nice! Congratulations on your new card 👏🏾 Hyatt's program and points are super easy to use and get good value from.
You are absolutely right, Marriotts milestone awards are terrible. Hyatt’s loyalty program is the best.

I agree with the breakfast benefit. To have to get all the way to Globalist to get it seems like a lot.
Just stayed at a Hyatt Place Category 3 for only 9K points, and it was super nice. 2 queen beds and a sofa bed, really spacious.
Things like this are what makes Hyatt Awesome!!
@@jpknowledge8852 Yes forreals! JP, I honestly felt like I swindled them with that little amount of points lol. Cash price I think was $250 a night
who is your favorite skytean transfer parter(s)? thank u
Virgin Atlantic!! I am a huge fan of their program, and I feel it became even better after the changes they made late last year.
Thanks for the great info + video!
Thank you as always for your support 🙏🏾

Love Hyatt! I've been a globalist for several years now, and will NEVER give it up.....unless Hyatt really F#&%@ us all over lol
Haha! I love being a Globalist, but it is challenging to maintain 😩
Love this review!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching

Why do a lot of people say the Hyatt credit card is a junk card?
Because typically you can earn faster with Chase UR cards.
Because it's only good for the FNC, and Discoverist doesn't really get you very far
People like to compare it to the Hilton Aspire card, which is on another level, but for a $95 hotel card, I think it is a decent card.

If you run across a Thompson or Grand Hyatt. I believe you become a fan
