Everything is time-based… My rates are 50 an hour at the shop, 60 an hour if I’m fully mobile, and 75 an hour for paint correction and ceramic coatings… Nice and simple✌🏼Start at $20 an hour if you have to, that’s what I did. Then increase your pricing as your experience actually reflects 🙌🏼
I charge a flat rate fee of $75 for a maintenance detail only for cars I've already done a full lengthy detail on. But I worked at a collision repair shop as a detailer and did only a rough maintenance detail that was a vacuum and wipe down on the inside with an exterior wash where I had to look at the repairs. But I know I can do a maintenance detail like that, even if I have to spot clean new spills in half an hour to 45 minutes.
I just started my detail business this week and besides just detaidling my car, I actually got my first customer today. I normally would tell people that I only do the exterior because I don't have all the equipment I need to do the interior. But I kept getting a lot of people turning me down because of this and it seem like for the first time a customer seem very interested. So I told him yes I can do your inside, I just cannot shampoo it, but I will vacuum your interior, wipe your dashboard, and clean the inside windows. But I only charge him 20 for both! I know I should have atleast told him it was going to be a extra 20. My products cost more and it was a really dirty SUV. It took me 4 hrs. I also did this because he wanted me to do 2 more cars the next day. Oh and he was my first customer. Plus I didn't have a vacuum so I used this little duster I had. I did a great job it took forever though, and he liked it. But I did the service to cheap n I got to get more supplies tomorrow. I want to ask for more money but I don't want to lose my first customer. PLEASE HELP!!
Quinton Butler I know you try to build customers first with your car detailing job but you need to know how much times and products that you are using to get the job done from there you can know how charge to customers every hour that you are working with the car Because when are charging them the very low price first time it’s very hard for you to raise up the price for the next time unless you told them you give them a discount in the first time. Good luck my man 😜
Quinton, you did in fact charged too little but dont let that bother you. My first customer I charged $100 for full inside and out including clay, machine polish, leather cleaning/conditioning, etc. and it took me 6 hrs (Range Rover). So even tho I didnt make much on that first job, he was so happy he told his neighbor who owns a company that makes over $3 million/yr in revenue. He owns a 2018 F250, 2018 Escalade, 37' Motorhome, a Custom Razor and 4 company trucks.....guess who maintains them for him?....me! So just that one $100 job now brings me $800+ per month on maintenance alone! Buy a cheap vacuum ( I started with a Stanley Wet/Dry 4 gallon, 4.5hp I got on black friday for $18!). Get $6 interior brushes (from Ebay), a gallon of Super Clean ($9), some spray wax and microfiber towels ,spray bottles and soap. For $50 you can buy all that and do a full detail. Once you make $100, spend $20 on something you need for detailing, and do that everytime... you will have what you need in no time. Good luck! 👍
So do you charge the typical full detail package for the first detail and then $80-90 if they decide to get it detailed every four weeks after or whatever if they do the maintenance package, or is it like they sign up for the maintenance package, and even the first and longest, dirtiest detail is still only $80-90? I hope that makes sense 😂, it’s hard to word it lol.
I charge $80.00 for a maintenance detail not to exceed 8 weeks. Also should that vehicle become excessively dirty during that timeframe, it does not qualify for the maintenance price. I communicate that clearly to the client.
Good info video. sorry i couldn't be on when you did your live vid i been working... question for your next Q&A. how do you kerp clean your pads? can you wash them the same as you would with the towels?
Junior Sandoval don't worry about it! And thank you! Yes I will put that in the next q and a for sure! And I would not wash them the same way as towels, of course you can get a pad washer for $100 or you could wash them by hand!
There’s a lot of people here in Vegas that price for maintenance wash and vacuum $30 for small cars $35 for midsize , $40 for suv and or large trucks. What do you think wilson is it worth it ? how much different is pricing over there where your at ?
I just starded my mobile detaling biss and have done only familys cars charging 50 dollers they gave me a little extra but becouse they tell me i did more than just a 50 doller job my question is if im charging 50 dollers what should i clean and not clean that price includes exterior wash plus spray wax and interior clean i do the seat rails door jams includes trunk, door handles all cup holders pedals ,stering wheel dash board and vacume includes trunk
$50 is what I charge just for an exterior wash. If you’re doing a full detail you need to be in the $150-$200 range. I charge $170 for interior and exterior with shampooing. I charge extra for any wax unless I’m trying to impress.
No short shorts? Lol, im just kidding, because I too sport some short inseam shorts in the warmer months. Our personal time is one of the most looked over things. One really has to place a value on their time and stick to it. Very good video.
Hi Luke: If a client starts out with a "Complete detail" and agrees to maintenance details every 5 weeks, is it feasible that the client would virtually never need a "Complete detail" again?
Do you mean doing a full detail first then doing a maintenance wash each week? What about after that month, will they have to pay the full amount for another month when it just needs maintaining? My basic wash which is what most do as a maintenance wash and vacuum is $60. So once a week for a month for me would be $240. Now my full detail is $110. Once its at that point i can maintain it. If its even just once a month its fine.
Wilson Auto Detailing - what about if you spend up to 3 hours and do to just going above and beyond by slowly nitpicking little bits each time to make it slightly better than the last time? Im also not very quick. I know im slow so i cant truly make $25+ an hour detailing.
Aaron Allen I don't like hearing "I can't" If you focus on increasing your speed little by little eventually on your 10th maintenance car you'll be 50% - 100% quicker while maintaining efficiency and cleanliness. And those are just examplatory numbers, but you get what I mean.
I know I’m late to the party but I just saw the vid. Quick question. Now that the cust has passed the allowed time frame of 8 weeks and now pays full price for a detail. Are they now eligible for the maintenance plan again? Have you had anybody hassle you about only missing it once and it won’t happen again and if you can charge they the maintenance price? Other great vid 👍
Hey man great question, I do have a little upcharge if say it was 8 weeks, but they waited ten or twelve, rather than $100 I would do $130 for example if that’s what I charged, or something simple like that
Here's a interesting question...so if I was that sedan customer and for 90 every for weeks....what if I asked for a weekly wash instead...would the price be different? Great info either way!!!
Edgardo Lopez thanks my friend! Definitely let me know if I can help with anything else, if you want a free super clean T-shirt from the giveaway just email me at Lucaswilson3@aol.com
@@wilsonautodetailing I am very curious what you would charge for the weekly detail? Assuming you'd charge 80 for a maintenance detail every 4 weeks, same scenario as above.
Hey im starting out a new mobile detailing business called E.D.'S Commercial detailing i wanna be able to do full detailing but my main goal is to do matainence washes for big rigs(fleet washing) I like the videos lots of good advice ive learned alot I did my whole setup watching youtube videos and just finally hooked up my water pump from my 275 gallon tank to my pressure washer today. I havnt started washing yet but im almost ready to start.
Im sorry man but you ramble sooo much. You literally spent the first 5 minutes saying something you couldve said in 10 seconds. “The more you clean it the less intense cleaning it needs. The less intense cleaning it need the faster it gets done. The faster it gets done the more $ you make” done.

Good info and dont detail to low of a price because u burn the market for the rest of us and its downhill from there. Luke do u agree.
Thanks!

Hi Luke: If a client starts out with a "Complete detail" and agrees to maintenance details every 5 weeks, is it feasible that the client would virtually never need a "Complete detail" again?
Virtually correct. But, a complete detail would be recommended once a year. Especially, when reapplying wax/sealant.
Do u charge full price for the first detail
For a monthly plan would you offer someone $120 for a sedan and including a wash every week for that month be smart?
Im not sure I understand your question exactly

How long should a maintenance detail be for a regular 4 door car? I'm trying to become more efficient and faster.
It is difficult to say, but as a rule I would not be ok if my maintenance clients exceeded 2 hours in most cases

Regularly my maintenance details take from 45 min to and hour for 4 door sedan cars, & for suv or trucks anywhere close to and hour and a half.

120 for a full detail?
Yes
Make that $25 no more than a 20 minute job, and it will work, and if you do not have anything to do, then why not
gas, product, time... I wouldn't leave my house for a $25 dollar job lol. They can go to the car wash.
I charge more than $1 but less than $8,000 lmao
