What You Need To Know About Windshield-Related Calibrations

- The impacts of ADAS and how repairs are performed is a continuously evolving path. Windshields are no exception to the ripple effect of advanced driver assistance systems. It is crucial to understand the importance of proper calibration procedures where glass is involved as well as the risks of overlooking them. The precise tolerance requirements of radar and camera systems as well as the wide range of manufacturer processes require much more than a casual understanding of ADAS. For collision operators and glass installers alike, there has never been a more critical time to partner with a resource that not only understand ADAS but is continually adding the latest in both OE and alternative targeting, diagnostic equipment, and training to ensure that you can rest well knowing that your customers are in a safely repaired vehicle. Proper calibration is not optional, it can be the difference between life or death.

Thanks for the detailed information, I am saving this for my insurance company to make sure I get the correct installation 👍👏
your channel is an amazing added value... WOW you cover every little detail regarding ADAS calibration
😊
If I don't unplug the power from the camera, does it still need it?
So that’s why there’s so many accidents because people are not actually using their own common sense their depending on a camera
That's exactly what I was thinking! Why can't people keep their vehicles between the lines without a warning from the computer chip? Why can't they back up without a camera and a beep to let them know when to stop before hitting something or someone? I have all of it in my vehicle.... but I do NOT depend on a computer chip to make my decisons.
Very well done! Thank you!
In my lifetime I have replaced 3 windshields. The radar adds $500 to cost and the technicians are charging $450 an hour.
Can’t you just use the radar from the old windshield? And 450 an hour to calibrate the sensor?
The radar appears to be attached to the windshield. Not an interchangable part. My bill was $889 and change. Insurance paid about $500. Don't follow gravel trucks.
Safelight probably had a hand in designing it.
@@thomaspaine6496 what vehicle was it? When I replaced my windshield the local company swapped over the radar camera and sensors and calibrated it for me. But 2 years later it’s giving my problems and I may have to get it recalibrated
Love your channel do u mind if I show this video to my customers?
Great Job @tonmcguire - Very Well Done!
Total scam!!!!!!!
So if the clarity of the glass and camera alignment is so critical, then why doesn't a dirty windshield or a rainy windshield cause the problems in miscalculation you refer to? I call bullshit!
Windshields needing that critical and specific calibration sounds like a dangerous liability to me. Ridiculous.
Seems like its a better idea to disable the ADAS system than to trust someone recalibrated it correctly and find out they didn't the hardway.
Got a quote on my 2021 Nissan Titan Pro-4X...$851.00. WTF. I don't understand what they are actually doing during recalibration. Are the sensors attached to glass or just behind it?
Should only cost about 2 to $300.
Do you need to drive to calibrate
That’s what I heard why pay them when you just have to do drive cycles above 35 mph -55mph
Paying 40 grand for a vehicle and the second it runs out of warranty paying another $2000 to have your camera adjusted or replaced seems really ridiculous. How about we just go back to paying attention while we’re driving and not trying to have the vehicle drive for us . Self driving vehicles are only going to create, worse drivers
2022 Ford Ranger. $2,500 for a windshield replacement. To calibrate the windshield, the tech just drove the car around the block.
850 bucks a windshield lol
We never needed this in older cars. This sounds like a Boeing disaster waiting to happen.
Kinfp pour vst
And we wonder why our insurance rates are out of this world.
Wow.We can’t get the auto dealership to let us know if our advanced system works or not.
THE POINT, Liability rests with the last person touching the vehicle! Not the manufacturer! CRAZY!!!!
Cool thanks for telling us absolutely nothing useful
Dude said a whole lot of nothing
No he gave us some vital information. Be aware of this junk when looking at a car to buy. now a broken windshield will cost more than several month payments, and we will all be living in fear of the next rock chip.
