That thread sealant doesn't specifies it is good for abs, it only says PVC, is this what is commonly used?
@@masterakoukaka did you ever figure it out?
@@kamronim3167 No. I switched all my piping to abs
With the modern technology such as PEX, ABS & PBC and ProPress it's a joy to repipe your own house (as I did recently). Also I get a feeling that plumbers make a ton of money these days. Maybe when I retire from my long running software engineering career I'll become a plumber :).
Thank you 😊
Thank you for recording and posting this valuable educational video.
Thanks for visit the channel!
Awesome video. I wish I could eyeball a pipe and cut it straight to the proper length like that. I have to replace some old drainage pipe in my house and will save this video for a reference.
Thank you 😊
Always good to refresh my knowledge of Russian language !
Shouldn't you have replaced the "T" and the steel (galvanized?) pipe to the left of it with ABS piping as well? Leaving that rusted out T is just asking for another leak!
Of course better to replace all steel pipes.
But this is a lot off work, and the owner was not ready to spend a lot of money for now.
@@FixitAll I thought that was probably the reason. Remember all Americans are not bad.
If the homeowner didn’t want to pay for a repipe then I’m not doing that work my career my name my work means everything to me when it comes to this trade
@@FreeAmerican-mm2myremember all Russians are not bad 😅
Well done great work thanks 😊
Thank you too!
@@FixitAll how did you know what size pipe to get?
@@Eastbaypisces there not a lot of sizes. Only two sizes you can buy: 1-1/2" or 2".
Thats all.
@@FixitAll o ok, what size abs u use?
@@Eastbaypisces same with your. Chek yours and buy same.
He Should Have Done Complete Piping Renovations😮😮😮😮😮😮
The Rusted Tee Look Dirty😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@riteshjhimlah1807 Yes, I even can repiping whole house. But who would pay for it? The owner says - do some minor repairs just to stop leaking for now.
Professional job
Thank you!
Around 2:45, it looks like that threaded part came loose pretty easy.
Was that unusual ?
Is that rusty threaded part usually quite hard to remove ?
I need to do the same, but I'm afraid of causing a new leak in that area.
So maybe I should just be safe and leave 1 foot or so and use a no hub coupling like you did on the other end.
My pipe is not rotten at that area where you put the male adapter,
but most of the rest of the pipe is very bad.
My pipes are about 75 yr old.
Steel pipe was damaged by rust because of thin steel wall. The triple elbow cast iron and 1/4" thick. So I'm not worried about it and it will stay another 50 years.
Did the try flushing actual acid down the drain?
😆😜
What is that black screw piece called you put the yellow sealant on?
1-1/2 in. ABS DWV Hub x MPT Male Adapter

Thanks have the same leak in the same exact spot! Dead on!
Glad it helps!
He should have had you replace it all. It's a time bomb. But at least it's not a pressure line
You right, but it cooost...
Let’s say you can’t get the pipe unthreaded. Can you hack it off and use a flexible splice just like on the right side? I mean if it’s in good condition.
Yes, you can use a rubber coupler. Same staff pro plumber used in garages, parking spaces above the ceiling to connect together cust iron pipes.
@@FixitAll yea i couldn't get mine off so im going to use a flexible coupling or no hub coupling which is better? its only temporary, im replacing it in sections like this
@@Eastbaypisces Any rubber sleeve will work because the water just flows and not under pressure.
Good
Thanks
Hi!
Did you understand why the Steel is so corroded ?
I didn't even thinking about it.
50 years old house.
Will threads match between abs & cast iron?
Yes. With thread paste work just perfect.
@@FixitAll Thank you! Great video! 👍🤗
Mine did, I went to the hardware store and tested it for fit. NPT, National pipe taper is the standard where I am.
I have to do this, how u connect the threaded part?
What you mean? I was showing all in the video.
@@FixitAll yea delete that comment i didnt watch whole video
Hey its me! lol. You know my situation.. Would it take tons of torque to break off a male threaded nipple on an iron fitting? Mine was under water a couple times. Not sure if iron rusts or not 🤔. Blessings, Jim
Iron much thicker than steel. So no worries about Iron.
Plastic removes easily from iron.
Ty! I love to watch your videos. You make it look so easy. Would you still first try the sealant? I got it very clean. Merry Christmas Blessings! Jim
@@jameshenz1780 Yes it sticks and sealed wery well.
👍👍👍
Not , brazil
If that broken pipe had a slope it may last longer.
3 years old now, I bet that entire T is gone by now, it was looking rough.
Looks like no, becouse customer doesn't call me.
Wow, well, no backups will keep it lasting longer! May it last another 10 years!
Those pipes are nasty
That music is annoying af n kills the video
Well, can be muted in player 🔊🔇
Ugh, mine is under my kitchen sink. I cant get enough ass behind my wrench to loosen it. Its rusted through.
Hey, I got one of those corroded pipes!
