"Recognizing when to put water on Visible Burning Material and Cool Gasses." People who believe in Heroic, go into a burning build, types of fire fighting, need to be weeded out and safe Thinkers need to be brought in. Every residential structure has at least one egress window in every occupiable room. That means you can find the fire room while doing a 360. Break the window and apply water to the burning material. Break other windows to vent flammable and toxic gasses directly to the exterior. THEN, you go inside a much safer environment to search for victims and mop up the remaining fire. You can eliminate the threat of heat and smoke and Protect victims Much faster from the exterior than you can from inside.
This concept will work provided you do not push fire into unburned areas and on top of victims. This means property stream and nozzle operations is critical. After 40 years of going inside on the majority of incidents a good fire officer will always choose the safest method of attack for his crew. I am of the belief of attacking the fire from the unburned side if at all possible.
@@riseagan wow i guess using a fog stream on a propane fire to push back the flames away from a valve to gain access to that valve must still be mystery!!
@@riseagan also you must never have been on the inside of a house on fire and have a crew put water in through a window from the outside and get your butt warmed up with flames coming at you by their pushing flames at you.

@@Wrjorgen You can't push fire. That's been proven. chuck a bucket of water laterally on a campfire, you don't push it, it goes out.
