Quick side not to all my fans: coming back to UA-cam after the time it took to record VS4 has been rewarding for me beyond belief. You guys have just been so supportive and welcoming, and I am so grateful for all your encouragement. Thank you for giving me the life I've always dreamed of! Being able to make music for a living is as good as it gets.
Sinking Feeling is a VideoSong, a new medium with 2 rules:

This guy is brilliant. Not only does he play every instrument, but he records the video, and edits it all into a masterpiece,. AND the music doesn't suck. The song is very Beatle-esk, but I'm ok with that, since the Beatles influenced everyone. BRAVO
One of the things I love about the VideoSong medium is that we get the chance to see how you experience the music, and we feel it with you. Every note that you squint at, we're squinting at too.
@caneut -I feel you, dude. I always have trouble feeling OK with my vocals, but i've learned a bunch of tricks. this song has 2 vox tracks, which is pretty standard for me. my voice isn't really good enough to get away with one track unless i'm going for something personal. sometimes i'll do 4 vox tracks: 2 hard panned left and right, and 2 panned 50% left and 50% right. or i'll record hella far from the mic, that helps, too. whatever, lenon hated his voice, so that's somewhat reassuring...
@jackcontemusic (speaking as a non-professional singer) I believe it is normal not to love the sound of one's own recorded voice. What we hear of our recorded voice has such a different resonance than what we hear inside our head while we speak or sing. Rest assured that your voice is wonderful and your singing is brilliant. Thank you for sharing with the world.

Every song this fantastic man (and for some songs crew) made feel different from his others, which is very interesting. They don't seem to follow the same pattern, though of course, they all have the Jack Conte touch to them.
This song is a classic. It deserves to be heard by more people.

One of my favorites from the album. Awesome song! I think that the muffled piano playing sound that plays in the last few seconds of the video should have stayed in the actual song though. I just can't get enough of that riff.

Hey Jack, I agree with the people saying this sounds like Elliott Smith. Both you and Elliott have killer chord changes in your songs reminiscent of Beatles stuff with the vocal harmonies and all. I'm not sure if it is cryptomnesia or coincidence but your this chorus sounds like 'Oh Well, Okay' by Elliott. I really love your work man, inspires me to make more and more interesting music!

GREAT! I was worried you were going to end up going too complex with your stuff and ending up noisy if you feel me! I'm glad you understand balance in music and haven't been fully contaminated by the modern jazz influence of cramming as many notes into a measure as possible. =) Love your stuff keep it coming I'll buy it all!
