I want to see you add bone meal and see if it actually makes a difference like it should, I grow a lot of onions and garlic and sweet potatoes which like bone meal and i want to know how much of a difference it really is making to soil.
It has been over a decade since I read of alfalfa as a fertilizer, but it used to be said the growth hormone triacontanol it contained increased flower sites. When it comes to Roses, Veggies, or Cannabis, more flowers = more Dollars
Thanks for this. Last winter I bought some alfalfa pellets to feed to my ducks, they hated it so ai had this 50lb bag of pellets sitting around, I was getting heavy into composting and mulching for garden beds so I covered this new 8x8 raised bed with the alfalfa and cow manure and wood chip bedding from my duck coop, and I got the darkest green tomato leaves I have ever seen in my life, they were almost blue, and I had no clue what was going on. I just learned like a month ago that alfalfa is a good fertilizer 😅. Sounds like my application rate was way too high.
Thank you once again. These demo are priceless. I would like to request an analysist on neem meal. I use it for the benefits azadirachta component. Seems to keep the indoor pots healthy. Thank you.
Is there a difference between Alfalfa meal and pellets, and how much? Saw on one pretty science oriented channel, that meal is made without the flower. Pellets have the flower in the pellet. Can't remember the difference it made now though. Have to go back and look. Love your channel. I just found it this morning and I'm hooked. Already spent an hour here, lol. Late to feed. Thanks Ok, went back and looked and it's mostly that there's no guaranteed analysis of the pellets. The quality is not as good, and there would probably be some other grasses in them being they are mostly produced for animal feed. That seems to be the biggest difference.
Can you test fish emulsion & seaweed "juice"? I am mainly a container gardener with a few small raised beds. I have no choice due to I rent and can't do any ground gardening. Plus, my yard is extremely rocky & hard.
Thanks for watching and I'll put the fish emulsion & seaweed in the que but can tell you that I know several people who have seen some success. Stay tuned!
Pease look at corn steep liquor. From what I read the nitrogen in is in the form of amino acids. Would like to know how this organic would do to the ammonium vs nitrate levels in the soil. Also to find what micronutrients are added with it. Thanks Matt.
I’ve been hearing good things about Timothy meal. I’d be curious to know how it compares to Alfalfa meal and how the combination of the two might be of benefit.
I saw a video that a guy puts chicken feed in his spreader to fertilize his lawn since it’s a grain. I’ve never heard of that. I am curious to what is in it that makes it work?
What is the effect fermented mustard cake on soil ? What hapens to the Allyl isothiocyanate (AITC) after fermentation? I heard Allyl isothiocyanate (AITC) irritates earthworms . Is fermented mustard cake fertilizer safe to use on soil rhizo bacteria since Allyl isothiocyanate (AITC) has antimicrobial properties?
Yeah alfalfa is a good additive but quite expensive at least where I am. I just use compost with a fair amount of leaf mold. Have you done a test on fall leaves or leaf mold? I know they are full of trace minerals.
Great channel. However I wished you did the experiments longer. You can do a 2 week one like this then do a followup 3 months later lets say. Would be great, because the Kelp definitly needed more time to realese pottasium.
@tinaknutsen PGR or Plant Growth Regulators are used to enhance growth and appearance. Synthetic PGRs are carcinogenic. Natural ones like Alfalfa is used primarily for weed.
Yes totally agree. great short/long term result on my lawn. Alfalfa meal helps with root development with trichophernol (spelling wrong) and humic acids improves nutrient uptake.
20$ for a 50 lb bag of alfalfa pellets. . this is a no brainer. forget about the NPK benefits, just great organic content for soil microbe benefits root development form tri something. . I buy pellets, ground for lawn and pellets for plants on top of soil. part of organics.
Yes; I have seen a lot of YT videos flying around about using alfalfa pellets the last 5-6 months in vegetable gardens, lawn and roses. One lady puts a thin layer of pellets of a container fills the rest with water, lets it steep for 1-3 days , strains it and uses on all her houseplants. And outdoor containers plants.

I like this idea!

What about using compost teas vs adding alfalfa meal on top, would love to see such an experiment
Great info, thanks! I use alfalfa meal early spring on my lawn to give it a natural boost after our harsh Canadian winters.

We'll get that in the que! Thanks for the suggestion and thank you for watching!

Wondering about alfalfa meal in worm farm..?? And would it then help to charge bio char?

Loved the video ❤ Thanks for this. Keep them coming
There is a microbe product called super soil that I have tinkered with. I would very much like to see you test it. Thanks for your videos.
Bat guano? Great vids, thanks
Thank you for the suggestion. We will look to add this in a future study.

I second this. Thanks for the great work. This is great information. Just landed on your page and subscribed.

I would like to hear about neem meal

It's cheap/lb. compared to compost and other organic fertilizers.
I would like to know why not use Feather Meal in your vegetable garden since it in nitrogen? Comparing Blood Meal with Feather Meal?
ro
Does epsom salt work?
I've seen epsom salt work as a fertilizer when soils test deficient for magnesium. Hope this helps!
Hi iam in Canada Bc I watch a lot of you tube and most use espoma products what can we use that’s same here in canada
can you please make a video about chicken manure fertilizer?
I want to see an experiment of worm castings
great video thanks!
Thank you for watching!

Alfalfa is used more to add natural PGRs. So you would need a plant that benefits from it.
What are natural PGRs?
@tinaknutsen PGR or Plant Growth Regulators are used to enhance growth and appearance. Synthetic PGRs are carcinogenic. Natural ones like Alfalfa is used primarily for weed.
you don't mention Triacontanol ?!
Love the chemistry.
How about Feather meal? Does it work?
Yeah bout 2 months delay lol 😭
Love to see dead leaves and like a previous season of wood chips.
Thank you for the suggestion. We will look to add this in a future study.
Good informative video.
Organic chicken feed?
humic acid for lawns and biochar for lawns
This is currently in the works, stay tuned for the results!

Alfalfa meal made my soil more alkaline, now is more than 7 and is not good for my roses😢
Neem Seed Meal and Mustard Seed Meal
Cotton seed meal
Thank you for the suggestion. We will look to add this in a future study.
I would like to know too. I’ve read that it helps acidify soil. Does it have higher sulfur vs other typical organic fertilizers?
Kelp Meal
Thank you, we have already made a video regarding this study. You can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/bTW_9K1LaZ4/v-deo.html
