- One of the joys of fishing is that it can be made as complex or as simple as one would like. On occasion it's nice to just strip it back to the bare basics, as fishing doesn't have to be complicated in order to catch fish or, more importantly, to have a bit of fun.
Here, we have a play about with a basic float set up, and minimal tackle to show just how simple it can be, and how easy it is to have some fun and even catch a few fish. Simple waggler fishing is a great way to introduce yourself, or someone else, to fishing, and no matter how experienced or accomplished an angler may be, we all should take it back to basics every now and again.
Magic, fishing for fun is what its all about..... Sometimes fishing can get too serious, and you can forget why you started in the first place. Its always good to have a wee sesh like this to get back to basics. Looking forward to seeing those Tench though!
Never seen the lift method like that before nice idea.
Brilliant guys there's a wee abandoned pond in glasgow that I fish for fun as its a bite a cast some cracking roach and perch in it, I go there when other fishing ventures have been tough going.
Fellas, I've got a question for you... Do you own Scotland.?.. It's just that I don't see many other Anglers when you're fishing, beautiful place and scenery, love the video fellas, keep up the good work..👍🙏
Lol, it's mental isn't it. Awe this amazing fishing and literally nobody else enjoying it.
Enjoyable, but not seen it done like this before. I use this method all the time but my setup is 3inch hooklink, 1.5 gram olivette, tip of float showing about an inch ?
Nice we day for yees but you can tell Gordon what's the big yin lol
🤣
The main reason why the fish were not coming regularly on the lift method was that the fish felt the weight of the bulk and spat the bait out. If you had used an insert waggler with a bulk at about two thirds depth and a single dropper eg a no 4 or 6 on the bottom you would still get a good lift indication but the fish would feel less resistance. On the feeder the fish will have taken the bait without resistance for a second or so. With the right set up on the waggler no 8or 10 shot close to the hook will register as a lift bite from a small fish even where it is not completely on the bottom. If the rig is overdepth, the fish pick the bait up and it moves the “tell tale” shot enough to cause the tip to rise out the water.
So do u not want the float out the water a wee bit so u can see it go down if it doesn’t lift ? Iv never done it this way with float fully submerged . Il need to give it a go top video as per boys 🏴👍
You definitely need to see the float. If there is a glare on the water, you would probably need the tip showing. We could see it pretty clearly under the surface on this occasion. Cheers, Alex
Great when you have waters like this to get people introduced to fishing. There's a water near me outside Edinburgh packed with roach and tench but I've not seen anyone fish it for over a decade because of the weed. I'll need to get my fix from this video instead.
