" He is all yours doctor"
"Great another lunatic to take care on, wonderful."
After learning about the Shadow War and the fate of Sheridan, I like to imagine that the Soul Hunters used to be followers of the Vorlons, and imitated their practice of collecting those like Sheridan and Valen for preservation. Of course their actions would be alarming to the younger races.
It was interesting to read that the Techno-Mages were originally a race that served the Shadows, before parting ways. They then expanded their order to include members of other races before theirs were destroyed. This is why they want to get out of the way of the Shadow War, and stay hidden until things settle down again. Which considering the Drakh acted not for a year, but for a generation was prudent.
Watching this episode now...flipping love the writing, the acting, everything about this series. Just a quote "You're a pessimist." Response "I am Russian doctor, we understand these things."
You know I just realized both Babylon 5 and Star Trek deep space 9 has a Dukat
Empathy versus telepathy. Telepaths in B5 experience something different when somebody dies and they are in contact with their mind. They see the deceased, if I can risk a cliche, going into the light. And that passage to wherever the dead go grabs at the telepath, takes a piece of them with it. Bester was supposedly the way he was from doing too many deathbed scans. The Soul Hunters can sense impending death, but they insist that the dead don't go anywhere, they are merely gone. But they are not telepathic (although they may also possess something like Centauri precognition as well as empathy).
I liked the Mimaris idea about these Soul Hunters. "JUST BLAST THEM!"
I do love the Soul Hunter's reaction to Dr Franklin calling his culture "ridiculous". Most shows would have the alien stereotype get offended or fly into a rage at such a suggestion, but here he's like "Sure, whatever gets me out of this cell faster. 😂"
I'm surprised that there were no Soul Hunters when Sherridan died.
First time? They probably don’t want to be anywhere near Zha’ha’dum.
Second time? They’d know better than to mess with Lorien.
A great episode William Sheppard did a great job.
I think so too.
He is also in little house on the prairie as a Russian immigrant who looses his house due to bad paperwork. The wonderful thing about that is he wasn't even resentful and just moved on.
Never understand why soul hunter is being hated by some. But it's always in the eye of the beholder I guess.
Frankly I don't get her fear of the Soulhunters, because frankly I'd give a lot to be preserved after death (ok: I am also a total Atheist so yeah, death closes all, it is the end and thus anything that could be done to prevent true death? I welcome it!)
Being caught up in their spheres doesn't look appealing to me lol. So i understand her fear.
@@JK-Visions As long as those spheres aren't put into a cold dark place alone? I'd welcome it! They do talk to them, hell they put them with other spheres if I remember correctly, so they can probably talk to each other, too! Hell, we've seen this large sphere where they put an entire race into, they lived in near paradise (don't get why some of them went mad, seriously, I don't!) so yeah, I'd want that!
Soul hunters remove souls from the cycle of reincarnation, trapping them between life and death.
Does the Soul Hunter mean Blessed, Bless'ed, Bless'id or Bless'd ? It makes a difference.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Reminds me of Charles Manson...
First encounter? I don't recall any other times... that's Lochley in Season 5
His first encounter. This is season 1 ep 3. Later on and in the movies there are more. I do not understand your question maybe?
There's a second contact with an Soul Hunter in the very same episode. ;)
They briefly appear in Season 4, when Delenn takes her dreaming and her role in beginnings of Earth-Minbari war is shown. When Dukath is informed that gun ports are open, Delenn notices shortly after that squadron of Soul hunter ships advancing towards them. That's when Dukath realizes they've made a massive mistake and gives order close the gun ports but by then it was too late.
This is cut from the movie, which shows that Dukath came to realization that the "traditional greeting" was a bad idea on his own.
William Sheppard had such a distinct voice, I remember watching Voyager and hearing a familiar voice and sure enough it was him. His cadence in this roll is so interesting.
If I am not mistaken he also plays a role in little house on the prairie. Great actor and great voice indeed.
Multiple characters in B5, Hawk the Slayer, and many more.
I keep forgetting that his name is William. He mostly went by Morgan Sheppard.
His kid does a good job too.
I remember him from Max Headroom.
