- In this video, we will take a look at the the XPON ONU Stick from HSGQ. The video will walk you through the Web Interface of the XPON ONU Stick and the process of replacing the ISP provided ONT/ONU with this SFP XPON module. (XPON means the SFP supports both GPON and EPON)
In this setup, the HSGQ is connected to the 2.5G Media Converter. The RJ45 port of the Media Converter is connected to the WAN port of the Nano Pi R6S.

Besides the Web Interface, you can also configure the SFP module via Telnet. The commands are the same with other Realtek GPON SFP, such as the ODI DFP-34G-2C2 and the LEOX LXT-010S-H.

Hello Van Tech, i hope u can help me. i ditched my ISP ONU, and im currently using a VSOL ONT with a openwrt router. My ISP provides internet and telephone via voip, and everytime bridge ONU reboots openwrt router get a ip from VOIP range (10.XXX.X.XX), and because of this i have to restart wan interface to get a internet IP. is there anyway to fix this on openwrt?

Hello bro, the Media Converter is basically a device where you connect the SFP module to establish the fiber connection. So you will need both the SFP GPON module (if your ISP deploy GPON) and the Media Converter (to conver the fiber signal to Ethernet - if router router doesn't have a SFP port)

Hi Van. Please just let me know if this SFP module will work in my network environment. It is a 11 building condominium where the ISP working under dark optic fiber providing 4000 Gigabytes that goes to the MDF where the OLT is located, from there spread to each building to a splice, from the splice to each building apartment APC type fiber to a Corning model 7298 SDAN 8 ports from GE01 to GE08, from the Corning to an AP station. Means this is a sharing ISP network.
I do have my own network lab rack with the connection straight from GE01 to my server, just unplugged out the AP and turned off, with my own internal static IP. into a ER605 dual Wan low balance controller with a fail-over Cradlepoint 5G CPE as secondary ISP.
Well my point is when I disconnect the APC type fiber out the Corning SDAN device and plugged into the HSGQ GPON FSP module to the 2500M network adapter automatically gets GPON Status O5 LOID Status=Initial Status with non configurations needed, the R6S NanoPi gets RX-3900Pkts/ RT-700Pkts. But connection attempt fail in PPPoE mode or DHCP either way, I'm using the R6S NanoPi with three Ethernet ports from right to left Wan-Lan1/2.5G, Lan2, HDMI, USB-CPD . What is missing here, or this is not possible with this ISP network sharing configuration. I've tried already the WAN option eth2.1 throughout 1000, mean not Vlan's works from 1 to 1000. I believe your firmware is out of date. I have model DFP-34X-2C2 Firmware Version which is V1.2.2-221209. It's has IP6 and a menu of options across the top, you need to maybe speak to someone to update as I found I had to do this when I got my unit, the sellers sent me the file. They are quality devices. And great value.

Updating to 221209 version crippled my Internet. I had to downgrade it to the same firmware as Van's

Hi van ! I see that you use an sfp to ethernet adapter to access the ONT interface. But on your other video with the edgerouter x you don use.
This is depending of the ONT? I mean, depending of the GPON SFP ONT you get, you can access it by sfp to ethernet adapter, or by creating nat rule?
Also, in my case, I just need the SN and PW, which I both have. Will the Huawei GPON OLT C + work? or it must say ONT in its name,

Hi, you can check out the videos I mentioned in the description to learn more about GPON. OLT is from the ISP side, and ONT/ONU is the device at your house. The ONU/ONT must be compatible with the OLT in order to use.
- This device is an SFP, and you will need router/switch with SFP port to use it. Else, you will need the Media Converter, which you called "sfp to ethernet".
- The video you watched must be the "Edgerouter X SFP", it has an SFP port/cage.
- For Huawel OLT, you can use HSQG and the LEOX SFP GPON module I introduced sometime ago. It should work, but I can't guarantee that.

Is there an xgs-on stick that is built like this? I need an XGS-pon stick that has this ability because my ISP provider has an XGS-PON network.

I have a USG PRO4 and it the HSGQ SFP module works fine.
I've got the exact sfp stick like yours. Plugged it in my Archer BE800 and there's no way I can access the sfp stick to set it up. Is there any chance to get through, mate?
I have no idea, you need to find a Media Converter, or use a router that support firewall rule, such as Mikrotik or OpenWrt. In this video I use OpenWrt

It is different. HSGQ/ODI GPON/EPON/XPON modules are from the same company HSGQ. You can change most of the GPON parameters such as GPON Serial Number, PLOAM Password, MAC address, SW/HW ver, etc

For VOIP, I will suggest using the ONT with RJ45/RJ11 port instead.

IGMP là một giao thức chạy trên bộ định tuyến, switch, v.v. SFP này chỉ đơn thuần là chuyển đổi tín hiệu quang thành điện nên bản thân nó sẽ không hỗ trợ IGMP. Nếu nhà mạng/OLT có luồng UDP cho IPTV => bạn sẽ nhận được ở luồng này tại SFP/ONT. Trong kênh mình có 1 video nói về IPTV trên OpenWrt, bạn có thể tham khảo qua.
will this work with XGS pon ?
Hi, this module will not work with XGS PON. There are SFP modules supporting XGS PON, but I haven't got any so far.

Not really, if you compare the price. I also reviewed the LXT-010S-H on the channel. 2 of them, the HSGQ SFP and LEOX SFP are still working fine until today.
HSGQ is not being detected by intel x520-d2, any way to solve this? Tried forcing the stick to 1g also

Can you simplify why you need to replace your isp ONT?
For flexibility. of course, default ONT from ISP work fine.. but fine tuning can't be done with standard ont.
You can’t replace ont won’t work with isp hardware
isp ont is a default device, it’s convenient but there are case when your device is better. For instance, when use isp ont then dms traffic is manipulated with isp (mit) but with my own router I can use doh, dot for better control.

I guess you are talking about the ODI, not the HSGQ (newer model). Also, make sure you got the latest firmware from factory where it should work.

If you ask the question, most likely you will not see any benefit from it,, but in short it permits you to switch the ISP router which usually offer very basic configurations on the user side, for a more advanced router as a PfSense or Ubuiti systeme where you can manage basically everything on your network. Also for big wi-fi coverage, usually the provide box is sub-par in speed and coverage
