Thanks for telling the history of Gettysburg! I'm glad you stick to real history rather than the paranormal stuff and the hauntings. As a native Pennsylvanian I definitely want to get back to this area @7:26 we also learned what the word "denuded" was as I'm watching this with an English as a second language learner. That was the first time I've ever heard of that word used to describe trees. It sounds unique and funny! :-)

Evening of July 1st The general in charge there had the troops build log walls they could stand behind, they had what they called a head block , There was a space between the top two logs so the troops could shoot through and protected their heads. Rebs had to charge up hill and were at a terrible disadvantage, Culp Hill is the only place were Maryland units from both sides fought against each other.

I love driving through Culp's Hill & Spangler's Spring. It is a beautiful area. By the way, the green cannon tubes are original and the brass has gotten a patina. The black cannon's are repros.

My husband & I were there about 2 months ago. Such a beautiful area. We have been to Gettysburg 5 times, but learn something new every trip. We got to ride on the battlefield too. So cool!
We did have a haunting incident one trip- at the Castown Inn.
It was so sad to see it for sale and run down this trip.

I’ve done it numerous times back when it wasn’t illegal, now i believe it’s a 10k fine if you are there after dusk.
The road that forks and leads up to devils den, when you make that turn there I have been in multiple cars that have just died right there between devils den and triangle field. Literally just stalled and shut off.
So so so many stories… the creepiest night was walking down off devils den and when we hit triangle field AS SOON as our feet hit the grass fog rolled in thick as all get out.
      We all took off 🤣🤣🤣🤷‍♀️

Thanks for taking me along Cliff and the history lesson. Tower of fear, good one. The civil war was bad, particularly because we were killing/maiming each other not some foreign aggressor at our shore. I'm so sorry so many young men's lives were cut short. We must face our mistakes and learn from them, least we repeat a most horrific time in our past.

The tower is just a hole going the other way. LOL Have never been to Gettysburg but hope to go someday. Thanks for mentioning the vanilla and peppermint. I live about 30 minutes from Shiloh National Military Park in TN. One time I was standing at the Bloody Pond there. I smelled vanilla but there were others there so didn't pay any mind to it. Maybe someone's soap or they were eating cookies type of thought. I left and came back to that spot about an hour later to do a video. The vanilla smell was still there. Many injured and dying soldiers and horses came to this spot. There was so much blood it turned the pond red according to the story. This spot is also very haunted. I have heard moaning and a sound like a cart being pulled by horses there late one evening. There are many stories of people hearing and seeing things at the park.

Beautiful area. So much to see in Gettysburg. It must have been a difficult, horrible time not only for the soldiers but the towns people too, weeks of rotting corpses of men and horses. I hope this country never sees this again, just the natural beauty.
Thanks Cliff, I also was quite nervous of the overlook stair climbing 😉👊👍

I've heard that there are "strange occurrences" where Willoughby run crosses the RR. (just west of the RR-cut) It's not part of the battlefield property but folks who live in the nearby apts. have reported strange sightings in and around the creek. One made an interesting video.

Where could I find more on this???? Used to spend so much time in Gettysburg. Day time reenactment memories with my dad as a kid.
College days of hanging out in the middle of the night in devils den. “Ghost hunting” with friends at 3am. And most recently taking my son and doing the proper bus tour and museums.
