    You're a goddam American hero, best video I've seen. You deserve a case of beer for shutting the fuck up quickly and getting to the task instead of talking about your truck for 6 minutes like every other old ranger video

    For anyone curious about the "Do Not Clean" sticker, it's because out of the factory the throttle body has a special coating inside to prevent build-up. After 20+ years though that coating's definitely all gone though so no point in worryin

    I have a 93 Ford Ranger 2.3l, I removed the throttle body and the plenum and found that the holes inside were blocked. I also found that the truck had 2 bad Gaskets and decayed hoses. What it looked like was oil. I use a shop rag, baby bottle brush, and throttle body cleaner. After putting the truck back together, I went for a drive and WOW! it runs better and it stop stalling at red lights and stop signs. I have more horsepower. Thank you so much.

      Video was perfectly fine with me but than again I'm not worried about angles and such. It was straight to the point and informative. It also helps that it's really the only good video I can find for a 2.3L. Thanks again.

    Cool. I was going to do this today, but taking it off looked intimidating for a bit. I feel more comfortable doing it now.

    My truck will not start. I have tried everything. I wonder if this needs to be clean on my truck. I sprayed some starting fluid in the intake and will not start. I'm getting spark to the plugs.

    It's imperative that you don't use a aerosol can to spray directly down into the throttle body. Using the aerosol can will wash out what remains of the lubricants on the throttle shaft. Always use a clean rag and spray the rag instead of the throttle body. Then use the rag to wipe out the inside of the throttle body and throttle plate.

    Hey man. Do you happen to know what attaches to the rigid line, L shaped, coming out of the bottom of the throttle body? Does it connect to the second smaller port on the PCV?

      Honestly, I cannot remember. It may be in this video somewhere.

      A year late and a dollar short, but it connects to a vapor recovery tube that goes to the charcoal canister in the front of the truck.

    What was the problem with how it ran? Was it just a rough idle? Mine is bucking as I drive it and I wonder if this could be part of the problem. The MAF seems to be working properly and I blocked off the EGR and there's no difference.

    I have a 1989 Ford Ranger 2.3 and I can't even find the Mass Air Flow sensor. I want to clean it as well. Can you help?

      +Brandon Copeland
      Sir, Ford introduced the MAF exactly in 1989 perhaps your Ranger does not use a MAF sensor. It uses a BP sensor (barometric Pressure sensor) or only MAP

    • @juttcros
      @juttcros  7 років тому

      If you do have a Mass Air Flow sensor it will be located on your intake tubing. There will be a pipe/tube running from your air box and connecting to the throttle body. It is a square housing attached to the pipe with a wire connected. It should be the only plug with a wire connected to it running to the intake tube.

    Thanks for the video! A have a 1998 Ford Ranger with a 2.5 L 4 cylinder and I need to clean the throttle body. The throttle body on your 2.3 L looks exactly like mine so this video is going to help me a lot! One question - did you install a throttle body gasket when you reinstalled the throttle body?
