Afrobeat is experiencing a revival, thanks to contemporary club DJs who boast the dance floor with the energetic mix of funk, african highlife and jazzblazers. Parts Sosimi is a leading figure within this music style that originated in Nigeria. He was a keyboardist and musical director in Afrobeat founder Fela Kuti's band and in the band of his son, Femi Kuti's Positive Force (AF Hertme 2004). He also performed with Afrobeat's 'drum king' Tony Allen (at AF Hertme 2013). In 1995, Dele Sosimi moved to London, where he shared his Afrobeat knowledge with countless musicians and students. He set up his own band and wandered extensively throughout the world. His current album is described by the English magazine Songlines as "a sizzling set of London's Afrobeat leader".

i find it quite amazing and beautiful thal Laolu took such a jazzy song like this and turned it into a house hit. remarkable.
That house mix blew my mind. But please find the clip of DJ Black Coffee mixing it live. Total craziness. So epic.
@@djpete2009 yep, i've seen the mix. But his boiler room set is the one that made me looks for this original. Beautiful afro house. Laolu deserves his flowers too.
@@johbracket2714 I have been sharing this Orchestra performance to just about everyone who I know loves Afrobeat. I never heard of Dele Sosimi until I heard the Laolu remix. Which brings me to the question... who is Laolu??? I wanna know some more, please.
@@djpete2009 i dont know mate, read his RA bio a few years back. Some German with Nigerian roots i think. But he's got a lot of afro house bangers for someone not that popular. Check out Force and There is Still Pain Left by him.
There is allot of easy to use material in the original for multiple genre's. It just proves how good the original is. :)
8:08 dude, front row with sunglasses. I want that kind of reaction at my show lol
Hahaha...he’s definitely feeling the vibes!
HAHAHAH

Fela kuti lives forever 🎉
I can relate easily with much of the info detailed above regarding the evolution of the man Dele Sosimi and his brand of the Afrobeat sound. I recall that the last major event he attended before his move to London in 1995 was to attend my Traditional wedding engagement in Tejuosho, Surulere, Lagos in February.
At that time, we became very close because I was very active on the Lagos nightclub circuit as manager of the X-Cite Band, a top Jazz and Pop band quite popular at the time. Besides, his younger sister, Ore, was my student at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Idi-Araba, also in Surulere.
Watching this video, it is so gratifying that Dele's music hes kept faith with the very highest format and style of the Original Fela Sound. I'm sure every time Dele plays, Fela would sit up in his grave and remark...ENCORE MY DEARLY BELOVED SON, DELE, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED......
Excellent job Bro.......Excellent job.......May the spirit of Abami himself continue to inspire you for us.....for all time....💪💪💪💪
I like the autocorrect “baritone sauce” in the description. It definitely adds a bit of flavour 😊
Cafe Del Mar live stream brought me here in March 2021. The remix house hit is sensational, all inspired by the awe inspiring original. Kudos and kudus to you from 🏴

I would love to find a studio version of this song !
That's what brought me here. The studio version is downright awesome, as tight as you can imagine, with an energy that
I utilize daily when I hit my bike. I love this live performance but the studio piece is much better. I got it off iTunes.
