I drive the Ariya as my demo car for work and love it and so quiet, same spec as this one but with the Glass Roof, we had the Renault Megane etech a few weeks ago and that is a very nice car, the infotainment on the Megane is amazing.
I always found that awesome when I had my X-Trail. Especially since the car literally will gently stop and even put on the parking brake for you - hazards on of course.
Good to see more affordable EVs starting to come out. And really good to see your review was from that POV. Too many reviewers shoot the horse before it’s out of the start gate: “Well, it’s…ok, I guess. But it ain’t no (fill in the reviewer’s favorite make and model)!” What they don’t consider is the reduction in price is coming somewhere. Smaller batteries, no “bleeding edge” tech or specs, durable and less expensive materials, no high end (and high priced) components (brakes, wheels, sound systems…). What people need is reliable, durable, and comfortable at a price point that they can afford. Excellent review as always!
Cranking out vids like a madman :) I hope you can realy spend some time with your family when all this hammer time is over cause I don't want to see you crash and burn like a Rimac on Top Gear ;)
Hope you will review the new Renault Megane E-tech electric as well soon. Also technically related to the Ariya and most likely an important EV for Europe.
I noticed the heater calibration is out of whack on my Ariya also. I’m normally happy at 21C on auto climate in other cars, but need 24C indicated on the Ariya. I must take a known good thermometer into the car next time and see what the heck is going on.
The automatic caption has invented some really funny words, like the e-tron was eatron or neutron, and the cold gating was colgating (like the toothpaste)...
I drove one of these a week ago. My wife and I took turns driving it. It was really boring in a very polite Japanese way. There is far too much plastic on the interior and the car feels pretty cheap. It is quiet. The sound system is pretty good, especially for a Bose (they do cars well) and especially in comparison to the weak sounding Meridian system in the EV6. Considering that an AWD Ariya is very close in price to a CPO Model X with 5.5 years of warranty, I think that we’re going with the Tesla. Depreciation already largely factored in and then the Supercharger network.
"Let me fire up the car" lol there are so many expressions that are going to be lost to time in the next few decades. In the same way that kids have never seen a floppy disk, you'll say, "ok. Give it some gas," and they'll be like, "what gas?"
Ariya should enter Thailand. I think it can beat Atto3 easily. In this week, there was an Atto3 car test event in Thailand that its car company was organized for automotive medias, after the event, several Thai language UA-cam channels that joined the event said/comments somewhat positive about the Atto3 car in their Atto3 videos, so I don't believe them much. That is also not (yet) the real world tests.
Hej Bjørn, the Ariya is almost on par with ID.4 and within the avg. tolerance of 5% (90kph: 171/167Wh /// 120kph: 252/251Wh/km), have you noticed the tire width, the ID-models have 235mm and the Ariya 255mm (+8,5%!), that might also explain the slightly higher consumption.
How accurate is the estimate of the remaining battery percentage at destination on the built-in sat-nav on the 63kWh? On my 87kWh Evolve the estimate is always way lower than the actual percentage when I arrive. It feels as if the calculation in the 87kWh is actually based on a 63kWh battery.
It is bigger (1775 liters), has more ground clearance, a lot higher quality materials used and a lot more stuff going on with the interior in terms of functionaiity. At the same time it's shorter (which is awesome in the city). So consumption actually is suprisingly good.
@@NameNaameNameeNaamee The Ariya is longer than the ID.4 and has less room according to Byron's box test. Also, the AWD version is going to have significantly less space than the ID.4.
Sorry if i am wrong. But this car has basically the same battery pack size as the Hyundai kona but only does 340ish km in 12C? That is in no way impressive is it?(in the 90km test even) My kona does 400-460 in these temps nowadays (the 60km difference is if wet or not) I drive like 120-150 pr day for work so i have a full weekly report. And i drive like an ice car maniac.
No. Kona has 64 kWh net capacity whereas Ariya has 58.5 kWh net capacity. That's 9 % less. And you can't compare Ariya with Kona. Kona can take only 16 banana boxes wheras Ariya is 50 % larger and can take 24 boxes.
Do you have 20 inch wheels on your Kona? The difference just in wheels is probably more than 40km. It's a bigger car, more weight and drag. From the different tests I have seen I think this car will shine in low speed areas. I think the motor is very efficient 😉 but it ends up being just normal at higher speed cause of drag. Yes I am from Norway. We hammer it at 93kmh😎😎😎
Most of these cars will go to dead end buisiness / leasing , as no working class person will be buying anything like this . There's no way I could afford even a secondhand one of these in 15 years time , I guess by then we will all have crashed and burned by then .
@@pawekropi5077 okay, was not fully aware of the huge size difference. In that regard perhaps okay but with small battery challenging for longer trips.

Way to go Nissan, 2 years ago this would be a blast, now it's still a decent EV.
I've been waiting for this one for a long time. Thank you. Too bad they still have the Navi by PlaySkool.

Ariya has a +3⁰C offset on the climate control calibration, which is typical in several japanese brands, just set it at 24⁰C.
I really love it inside and outside but atleast in my country it’s sadly way to expensive
Nice! Hope to see your review of the Renault Megane E-Tech soon!

Curious what a 215mm setup would do for consumption.
Nissan has done a good job with the fat leaf. When do you get the fully loaded version to test.
It has battery preheating Bjørn!
