Use a rag to cover the lever, thick and doubled over. And use the open hole on the handle of a large crescent wrench to bend in the exact spot. This thing with heating the lever is unnecessary, and gouging the lever then stripping all the paint to fix the gouge....that's just not the right way, sorry. It's a one minute process, no taking the lever apart, or even off the bike. Also, leave the lever loose enough that it will move when you crash. I leave mine loose enough that I can move it in different positions by hand for different tricks.
This is a bit of a random one, is it super necessary to run a left side lever on the left side of the bars or are they mostly interchangeable? Putting brakes back on my bike after like a decade and can only find the left side lever, problem is I always ride right hand brake lever. The lever is an old tech 77 if that helps
I love the tech 77! with the brake lock, right? They are totally interchangeable. Although, things like the cable end, which are usually on the bottom side, will be on the top side now. Usually you don't put your finger there so it shouldn't be a problem. Also, if you are running the Tech-77 with the brake lock. it will be on the bottom instead of the top.
@@thebasementbikeshop2336 Thanks, was a bit worried that it might sit a bit crooked like if the lever part was off set a bit. And yeah been a fan of the tach 77 since day 1 haha. Thank you for the speedy reply
Bro the WD into the grip with the straw is genius. Air compressors will blow them RIGHT across the room off the handlebar 😂 but I don’t have one right now so this WD40 can bout to save my life… these S&M grips and odyssey uppercut bars do not want to be separated 😂 the only shitty part bout the odyssey axle bolt bar caps. The caps come off easy sure, grips ? NO
Very thorough man. Nice job. Brake ended up looking perfect 👌
Thanks! Glad I could help.
Is it good to have brake lever on a angle on handle bars

I cringed and stopped watching as soon as I saw the atrocities that were performed on that brake lever, this is madness.
How wide did those bars end up at the end?
What bar width do you run
