ABOUT US
Hi y'all! We’re Adam and Kathryn, an adventurous married couple living in a Sprinter van! You can often find us scoping out the best coffee shops, eating tacos, climbing mountains, cuddling our fur child Kona, and dreaming about Hawaii.
We created Adventures of A+K to help busy, budget conscious, and adventurous travelers maximize their vacation time and money wherever they go through detailed travel guides, vlogs, and resources. Our goal: to help you spend less time (and stress!) planning your trip and more time enjoying it!
We will be sharing 1-2 travel vlogs a week, so please SUBSCRIBE to follow along on our adventures! :)

Note: We’ve linked a handful of items so you can see exactly which products we take with us. Full disclosure--if you click on these links and make a purchase, we get a small commission at no extra cost to you. We will only ever recommend products we truly love, actually use during our adventures, and think you can benefit from too!
I collect magnets! My fridge is practically covered. I love seeing them and reminiscing about all the place I’ve been with my sweetie!
We love the magnet idea! It’s so fun to look back at the item you collect and see everywhere you’ve been! 🤗
me too love collecting magnets on our travels! I was able to find these really nice decorative magnetic frames and have displayed all my magnets , it makes for a nice conversation piece:)
Nice! The Everglades IMO one of the national parks that doesn't get the attention and credit it deserves. Beautiful!
It truly was a pleasant surprise! A lot more fun than we anticipated!
Great video as always - as a Florida native I have to say you shouldn't leave without seeing the Dry Tortugas National Park - the expense is worth it. Waay beyond what you experienced in the Everglades. Key West is fun too!
Logistically and financially we couldn’t this time, but we will definitely be back! Can’t wait to experience both!
That was an awesome video thanks for sharing!
We’re so glad y’all enjoyed it! 😄
This was so helpful! Thank you so much!!
We are so glad!
Those nasty vultures...that YUMMY lime shake...those baby gators were so CUUUUTE!!! Really enjoyed watching! Great job Adam with the intro!
It was a mix of terrifying and cute and delicious things all in one day! Lol! 🤣
I love that I found this video while researching this NP Love watching your adventures
That is awesome! Thanks for watching!
Enjoyed!!
When traveling l like picking up things that I can actually use ,tea towels, seashells for display and jams, jellies, hot sauce. l love going through the local grocery, markets and find things there.
We love that idea! Local food related souvenirs are definitely our favorite. 🤗
I love to collect the Travel Stamps: National Parks when I visit! I have their book to collect them all.
That’s awesome! We love collecting the patches and the stamps are really cool too!
Great video!
Thank you so much! 🤗
Great video
Thank you!
Love love love all your videos! We collect playing cards...they're small and easy to store but also practical! Every time we play cards we get to reminisce on our trips :)
I love that idea! How many have you collected so far?
@@AdventuresofAplusK We have 14 so far! But we just started a few years ago. Hopefully we will have many many more soon!
We collect stickers for our luggage! People compliment us on them all the time :-) Thanks for the great videos!
That's a great item to collect! We've got lots of 'em too! Thanks and thanks for watching!
Park magnets!
When I saw the birds I thought they looked like vultures ,they looked kind of scary 😱 , in the middle of a huge rain storm here in the U.K. so nice to see the Florida sunshine 👍 you guys are so brave ,I lived in Florida for a few years those gators terrify me 🙈 , thanks for sharing went so fast 👏👏👏👏
They were huge!!! Not as big as turkey vultures (which are the ones we see most often), but definitely large enough for make you squeal a bit 🤣 Glad we could bring you some sunshine! We hope you stay dry during your storm 🌧🌧
The birds and the editing😂😂😂😂😂
Hahahahah it still makes me laugh...and also cringe! 🤣🤣
Hi guys, love watching your vlogs. Seeing all your adventures is wonderful and enjoying. The love you have for each other comes right through. Safe travels and thank you for sharing! Gators tend to be tough, don't know if you've ever tried ostrich, but that would be payback for the earlier "bird attack". lol
Thank you so much for watching! 🥰 And YES, we need some payback! 🤣We will have to try Ostrich next!
I collect stickers, patches, and magnets. A lot of my stickers are on my camping bins. I love looking at them and seeing all the cool places I have been. I’m still trying to figure out how to display the patches.
That is so cool!!! Love the magnet idea also. For patches, we currently put them on a board in our van, but may one day make a big shadow box of them or frame them or something
“I hate gross stinky poopy birds, so scary!”
*stands within biting reach of prehistoric scaly dead-eyed killing lizard whilst cooing, how cuuute!*
🤔🕊🐊😆
I collect tiny magnets and send myself dated postcards from my worldly travels... the quirkier the better. My fridge is covered, love to see them and remember it all :)
Looking forward to more videos, I definitely subscribed!
Hahaha it makes zero sense, but those birds were WAY more terrifying than the gators! The gators were just sunbathing and napping lol! 🤣🤣
We love the sending yourself postcard idea! That’s so fun!
Love getting National park magnets :)
The magnets are so cool!
I know this is 3 years late but we collect stickers to add to our cargo carrier and also buy magnets for all of our travel destinations! Love your videos!
That's awesome! We love stickers too!
I subbed after your Oahu vlogs. I'm headed to Florida in a month and looking to do a quick everglades airboat ride and Christ of the Abyss. Dry Tortugas is one of my favorite places, I cant wait to to see your virgin islands and dry tortugas episode in the future.
We are SO bummed we couldn’t go to Dry Tortugas, it looks gorgeous! Christ of the Abyss looks crazy awesome! 😍
We need to plan better next time to find an affordable place to stay or leave our pup. We cannot wait to cross those off the list in the future though!
🦅 🦅🦅 that was so funny loved the beginning! We collect at least 1 thing from every place, but different every time. I’d be scared to see gators so close 😨
Those birds were TERRIFYING hahaha
Love all of your videos that we’ve watched so far. It seems that you all hit our favorite places or close to home. We hiked Shark Valley & saw a zillion gators. Also a tip for when you go to Dry Tortugas; you can take a ferry from Marco Island over to Key West & save about 3 hours of driving time each way to the Keys. Of course you still have to take a ferry from Key West to Fort Jefferson.
Awesome! Thank you for the tip! We definitely will be heading back that way. But maybe via plane instead of by van and without Kona. Miami + the van = not the easiest combo haha
My husband and I collect magnets! The cheesier the better, and our fridge looks so fun because of it!
That sounds so fun!
I collect crew neck sweaters that have the national parks name on them. I always buy them at the National park store along with a keychain and coffee mug :) I just subscribe you guys are awesome. I’ve been binging all your videos !!! You guys are so sweet.
What a cool item to collect!! How many do you have now?? And thank you so much for watching!
My wife and I collect magnets for our kitchen fridge. Everytime we use the fridge, we get to remember our travels.
We love that!!! Our patches used to live in a box, which sucked because we never got to see them, but we love having them out in the van to remind us daily 🤗
What an great comparison with the black headed vultures. I collect refrigerated magnet's. I have to many to cover just one side of the refrigerator. 😊
Thanks for the video, Kathryn & Adam! I was amazed you could come so close to the gators. Of course they see a lot of people, but I would not be brave enough to see them so close ;-) Funny BTW that you were stuck in the van because of birds and be able to ride next to gators ^^
Nice tips for the tarp box, good to know! Those birds behave similar to Keas in NZ, removing all rubber stuff from the car.
LOL! Isn’t that funny how the birds are what scared us and not the gators?! 🤣🤣 The gators we’re so chill. We hardly saw any of them move. We had no idea birds liked rubber. Hopefully we can save one car in the future with our video lol!
Great area to explore 🐊
I went through alligator alley years ago. Fun stuff down there!
Allison! How’s life on the road treating ya?!
Adventures of A plus K catch my dm on Instagram in a bit😉
Will do!
We collect lapel pins and put them on a map. We collect ornaments too but I am kind of over all the ornaments🤣.
Love the pin idea!
Christmas ornaments and of course a t-shirt.
Love it!
We collect pins from all the parks
That is awesome! What do you put them on?
Canvas print board that We get from Micheal’s. Also we just went to shark valley a few days ago. Saw “fred” the gator. My son named him. Also we saw the cutest baby turtle i was smaller then a silver dollar.
Always loooove watching you guys!!! Just a quick question - how long did it take for you guys to bike and visit the Shark Valley trail and observation? Thank you.
Oh it's been too long to remember haha it's 15 miles round trip so probably under 2 hours for biking and add in any time you spend at the tower
Sorry if that doesn't help much. Thank you for watching!
That tower marks the southernmost point I have ever been.
You guys are south of my area-if you are still here.
I am in broward county.
Hope you enjoyed
I love to collect magnets when we travel. They’re cheap and light. Our garage fridge is almost covered in them. When I go to a national park, I always grab an enamel pin and I keep them in a nice shadow box.
Hi, from Australia! I often collect postcards, magnets (only the unusual, or extra special ones) and Christmas ornaments. I always, when available, collect the Starbucks “Been There” or “You Are Here” mugs.
Australia! So cool! 😍
Christmas ornaments was one of our favorite traditions. We should still collect them for when we have a tree again! My second cousin also collects those Starbucks mugs. He has so many it’s wild!!!
Watching this a few weeks after my Everglades visit, but we made a few stops at Robert Is Here and ordered milkshakes for breakfast one time. Makes me feel a little better knowing there isn’t actually any ice cream in them 🤣 although in my opinion ice cream is part of a balanced diet haha 🤷♀️ great video as always, we did most of the same things!
I’ve cream is in our food pyramid too! Thank you and thanks for watching!
Hello Adventurers😊😊😊, I just viewed your South Florida video and it was AWESOME!!! This past June me and my son, who is on the autism spectrum, we took a road trip from our home in Rhode Island( more on that later ) to Miami, FL and spent 4 days there. My son Alex loves birds and " cow's and sheep lol" as he says it. So we visited Everglades National Park and we spotted an alligator at the entrance sign to the park and Alex screamed lol, and then it poured on us. We also visited Biscayne National Park and we got bit up by mosquitos even with repellant on and the followed us right into my SUV. We saw lots of birds which was really cool. The highlight though for us was the Florida Keys and Key West. We encountered many huge lizards and so many PELICANS😊😊😊😊! It absolutely poured on us in Key West but it was cool to see the city. I would love to visit the Dry Tortugas National Park on our next visit there as I think late fall season my be the best time. I would love to see your footage when you arrive into New England and check out Rhode Islands beautiful shoreline and awesome seafood. Actually, upstate NY and all of New England should visit. Great video👍👍👍👍.
That sounds like such a memorable trip! Even with the rain and mosquitos! Did Alex scream with excitement or fear when he saw the gator? (I was a little of both haha) we really want to visit key west and Dry Tortugas so badly!
We can’t wait to share some of New England! I’m not sure how much we will be seeing due to needing a bit of a break soon, but if we don’t make it to Rhode Island this time, we 100% will be back to see it!
We have that same patch from shark valley!👍
Woo! Patch twins! 👏🏼🙌🏼
I used to collect shot glasses and key chains but my new collection consists of post cards 😊
We love the national park postcards!
2 other things: When we visit any national park, monument, or historic site, we get our National Park Service passport stamped. And I always buy a key chain representative of the park.
Ah nice! We have seen those passport stamps, but haven't done that ourselves. Love it!
Penny press is the way to go for collectors items for me 😁
Those things are super cool!
Girl you got some sunburn
We collect christmas ornaments, post cards, CDs (if there is one for that park), tshirts, local coffee, and the national park passport stamp. We recently found your channel and enjoy watching. You guys do the same things we like to do. It is helping us plan our next adventure. 😎
That’s awesome! Thank you and thanks for watching! ❤️
You are very cute. You missed some great information not taking the shark valley tram. So much to learn in this area!
We will have to take the tram next time-it looked fun! A bike to the tower and then tram back option would’ve been perfect!
Those vulture creepy!! I want key lime milkshake too it looks amazing.
They were so creepy! I couldn’t stop imagining us opening the van door to go on the trail and all of them flying into the van 😬🤣
And the shake was SO GOOD! We almost went back later in the day for another lol, but decided to be good and save the money 😔
@@AdventuresofAplusK The music you added to the vulture scene made it perfect. Nice editing.
@@ArcesAdventures hahahah thank you! I kept giggling as I edited it 😂
gotta get me a fridge magnet our refigerator is a mecca of places weve been lol
Heck yeah!
I collect ornaments, my husband collects shot glasses, 1 daughter collects magnets and the other collects key chains.
That is so fun that you all collect different things!
Noticed yinz collect postcards and patches/stamps (might be wrong) from the NP's you visit. My wife and I collect magnets, not only from NP's we've visited but other vacation spots we've been to. Also, we bought a NP Passport, so we started stamping it when at the NP's we visit. Not sure if yinz have one or not? It's a really cool item and gives you a little background info on the NP's
We do! We collect patches for ourselves and send postcards to our Patrons and family members! Magnets are such a good idea! We need to get a little board we could place them on in the van 😄
Another great vlog. Not tried gator but have eaten shark and swordfish, both of which also taste like chicken
Ooo interesting!!! Are they a bit chewier too?
Adventures of A plus K No. They taste very much like chicken breast, just with a slightly fishy smell.
We love to collect magnets if possible but we also always grab a flat rock in a creek or on the trail. We paint the place and date on one side and have a shadow box full!
Ooo that’s really cool! I haven’t heard of that before!
@@AdventuresofAplusK It can be illegal depending on the park/area and of course there's the idea of not disturbing nature or taking things, but we've enjoyed it! Kinda a different play on collecting sand!
I wish I knew you guys were coming to Miami I live so close to Robert is here
Ahh no way! We would have those shakes everyday if we lived close by. And we’re sorry to have missed you! We tend to post things a bit delayed (2 weeks usually) 😔
You should also go to Circle B park in Florida as well to see more of the wild life plus it have some history and the larger monstrous gator that made the news a while back
Sweet, we will have to check it out next time!
I collect far too many things: patches, postcards, pressed pennies, magnets. I'm quite fussy though. I only get the ones I really like. I bought the same patch that you did when I was at Everglades National Park, so it must be a good'un 😉
I also really like free souvenirs (matchbooks, coasters, tiki bar cocktail stirrers, etc.). I'm just a massive hoarder basically!
We love that! It’s fun to have a variety of items from every place! And yay for the same patch! 🙌🏼 it’s hard to beat free souvenirs too 😄
Nice Video, Keep up the good work. I follow all your videos. Any plans of coming to Asia ?
Asia is our #1 spot we want to visit! Unfortunately due to limited vacation days we have yet to make it a reality, but 🤞🏼🤞🏼 for later this year!
Where in Asia do you suggest visiting for a first timer?
@@AdventuresofAplusK Thanks for the reply, Bali and Vietnam will be a nice place to start with and India from where I am (and in India it would be Taj Mahal and Kerala which will be nice place to visit)
We’d love to visit any of those! Hopefully this year! It’s been on our list for a while 🤗
Hey guys! Loved the video. I'm sure you have a ton of stuff planned already but if you need any recommendations for local food places or things to do, reach out. I'm a fort Lauderdale area native. 👍
Thank you so much! Unfortunately we already left the area, but if you have any tips for things to do next time, let us know! 🙌🏼
@@AdventuresofAplusK, will do. I'll put a list together & send it over. My wife & I found your videos when planning our Italy trip. We did a portion of the path of gods hike because of your video! It was our favorite thing from our time in Positano. Do you have any videos on Germany? We are getting ready to go to Munich on Saturday.
That would be awesome, thank you! Feel free to email us at hello@adventuresofaplusk.com so it doesn’t get lost 😄
We’re so glad y’all did Path of the Gods! We loved that hike so much! And we unfortunately haven’t been to Germany yet, but it’s high up on the list!
@@AdventuresofAplusK , I'll be sure to send it to that email. We're so glad we did the hike too. It was absolutely beautiful. We were hurting at the end though lol. I think you walked down the steps instead of taking the bus back to town right? We did that without researching where the steps came out... We still had almost a 40-minute walk back to our hotel 😂
I'll send over some things we like from Germany too. keep an eye out for the email in a couple of weeks. I'll make it a crazy subject with a bunch of emojis so you won't miss it. Thanks for making the videos, I know it's a lot of work but just know that it is appreciated. Can't wait to see where you two are off to next! Talk soon.
We did take the steps! SO much walking that day, we were exhausted after! 😅
And that sounds great! We are excited to see which emojis you choose! 😜 Thank you very much for the support. It's definitely not easy filming and editing at times, but we do love doing it. We are glad you enjoy them!
Upload on a weekday whatt!!!
Hahaha a little mid-week surprise! 🎉Eventually we’d love to share 2 vlogs a week every week! 🙌🏼
We collect magnets! So fun! New subcriber. My 14 year son and I want to do all the national parks! We are headed to fort lauderdale for 3 days before a cruise that goes out of Miami. And want to explore here. Is one day enough or what should we be sure to do?
That's awesome! We felt like a full, busy day at Everglades was enough for us! We got to see just about everything we wanted to.
We have a guide on our website that shares all the things we think are must do's in the park! adventuresofaplusk.com/7-things-to-do-in-the-everglades/
Hope that helps and we hope y'all have an awesome time!
Are you guys going to travel to the Dry Tortugas National Park this year 2021?
We'd love to go there, but probably not this year. We will likely save it for a flying trip vs. in the van, as the logistics with Kona proved to be too tough last time. We'd love to combine it with Biscayne and also the US Virgin Islands NP.
I also collect patches When I go to a national park gonna go to Everglades in January! If you ever are in the Polk county Florida area I would recommend circle b bar and reserve I’m gonna have a video on it soon they have a 12 foot alligator there did not see it I would recommend the alligator alley loop it’s about 2 miles and they also have some beautiful birds there too and they had turtles there too 2 big ones and a baby!
Thank you so much for the tips!!
@@AdventuresofAplusK you’re welcome!
Just finished watching this vlog🙂My boyfriend & I are big collectors of the Starbucks “You Are Here” mugs😃😃😃We we’re super excited to collect a mug from Panama on our layover to Argentina where we were able to pick up 2 mugs, an Argentina mug & a Rosario mug which is the area in Argentina we visited last year😃👍If you ever plan a future trip to Argentina, go to Iguazú Falls. We did not have a chance to go there on our last trip but it’s definitely on our bucket list😉
Ahhh those mugs are cool! How many do you have? We really want to visit Argentina 😍 We have some flight credits due to COVID for South America so that’s a possible option if we ever get to use them!
Adventures of A plus K I loss count on how many mugs I have😂😂😂But I’ll have to definitely take inventory😉👍I hope you get to use your travel credits soon. Our trip this year was to go to Seattle for a 2nd time than Vancouver, BC but
b/c of COVID-19 we’ll just have to wait🤷🏻♀️. You & Adam are definitely giving us great travel ideas. BTW... your dollar will go a long way in South America so that’s a perk😁
We love Vancouver! Have y’all been before? It’ll definitely be worth the wait. South America is very very high on our list! We went to Mexico City and loved how affordable everything was.
Adventures of A plus K No we have not been to Vancouver so yes we will wait patiently until we can go.☺️We have been to Seattle however & we absolutely loved it😃👍I saw your México vlogs and man oh man all the yummy tacos you both ate... super yum😋& yes also very affordable there. Thank you guys for sharing your adventures w/us🥰Take care & be safe!!
Ahhh nice! Seattle is of course one of our favs too! Thank you guys for watching! ❤️
Not really a collection, but I tend to get a nalgene if they have one. They fill the cabinet up quickly though!
Ooo that’s a fun idea! We used to do mugs, but we had the same problem lol!
My husband collects pressed pennies from all the national parks we visited.
That is awesome! Does he have a special way to store them and show them off?
I love to collect park pins and now the national parks have coins you can collect.
Ah nice! Do you have a place to put your pins or coins?
I collect pins everywhere I go. I put them on my jean jacket and my backpack for now. But eventually I want to get a US map to pin them on the location they came from.
Pins are an awesome idea! We have all of our patches just sitting in a box at home. Maybe a big map would be cool to pin them on also!
Hey guys, we collect hat pins and walking staff badges. Crystal usually gets a patch too. Did you find out about the boa and python problems they have in Everglades? I was born in FL and I remember when the Everglades went up past Orlando. I also remember miles of orange groves and sugar cane and pineapple fields. Lots of history. Did you learn about Crackers? (The people and no it’s not racist) go look it up what a FLA cracker is.
Wow, up past Orlando?l! We did hear about crackers before our trip and about the pythons...glad we didn't run into one of those! 😅 Hat pins is a great idea for collecting too!
I collect magnets!!!
They make some super cool National Park magnets!
So sad how he just watches her eat it seems like he would really appreciate if he was being fed since he has to hold the camera .. lol he’s all “ahhh” to get a bite so funny and then he goes “your going to have to share now” 😂
Don’t worry, he is a well fed boy 😉
Just a thought - do those bikes not have brakes or gears?
No gears! And to brake you had to reverse the pedals (not sure if that’s the technical term lol)! Definitely not my favorite bikes we have rented haha
@@AdventuresofAplusK Ha! You guys are too young to know- those are old school "coaster brakes",
and yes, one speed. I'm building my van, and stopped by to look, listen, and say "Hi, welcome to (Greater) Miami!", which I will be getting out of in my van after 30 years here. Yes, Tortugas and The Keys (the 7 Mile Bridge is made for drone van shots, stopping at Bahia Honda State Park) are great.
Hope you don't mind my asking- what are you guys doing during Covid? Best of luck and Happy/Safe Travels!!!
We used to collect post cards and travel guides.
Love the postcard idea!
My husband and I always get a coin when we visit a National Park! Not sure what we are going to do with them, they are currently in a bowl lol but we will figure it out!
Oh cool! Are they those stamped coins or more like quarters? Our patches used to sit in a box until we got the photo grid in the van, so we know how it feels to have zero idea what to do with your collection haha
I have collected floaty pens, pins, buttons, postcards.
Floaty pens are so fun!
Adventures of A plus K
I also held a gator after an airboat ride
Yes his mouth was taped
I have a picture
That’s awesome! I held one as a kid and it was so fun!
The National Park System encompasses 419 national park sites in the United States. They span across more than 84 million acres in each state and extend into the territories, including parks in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Guam.Jan 8, 2020 Great goal!!!
Sooo many to explore! We aren’t keeping track of the non national parks (as in the national monuments and other sites), but love visiting those too!
We collect magnets.
That’s awesome!
Watch out for python too
Head on a swivel the whole time looking for scary things! 😬🐊🐍
We collect pins and stickers!
We loooove stickers! 🙌🏼
We collect patches and pins
Very cool!
Please keep collecting ornaments, someday you'll have a Christmas tree.
We’d love to! But we unfortunately don’t have tons of space in the van to store extra items right now.
Ah, my home! South Florida has some crazy wildlife. There was also a fight between a gator and a python in which the python won and was able to swallow the alligator but the alligator might have been still alive or the size of it caused it to burst through the snake's stomach. Fact: Pythons are not native to Florida. They are an invasive species to the point where people are paid big bucks to exterminate the snake. You will be lucky to see a bear or a Florida panther because they were close to extinction until a program was created to bring their numbers back up but not enough for them to be a common sight yet.
Going to the Keys especially Key west is not a one day trip. Depending on traffic and what not it could take you a few hours just to get down there. I am sad you didn't get to try some Key Lime pie. As you know, it is a specialty of Key West. Were you guys trying to say Guava? I am glad you guys are enjoyed south Florida and the everglades. I hope you enjoy your time in Florida.
Oh my gosh that sounds terrifying!!! And we are kind of glad we didn’t see a bear because we reallyyyy want to see our first bear up in the northwest (just because that’s more of an area we’d expect to see one).
And we did have guava! We had a couple things in Miami (in our next vlog coming out soon!) and loved it. We really wanted to save the Keys for when we could do them the right way, so we will definitely be back when we can plan more ahead of time!
🖒🖒🙌🙌😙
🐊🐊🐊
Since you asked, I collect coffee mugs. Specifically, the handmade ones with the stamps on them. All the other mugs are made in China and I'm just not gonna do that.
Oh coffee mugs would be a neat collection!
Sweatshirts
