Hi, great tutorial! You do the rolls so smooth, it’s fascinating to watch. I been working on the stomach rolls for a while and I can do multiple backwards stomach rolls but only one forward roll. Everytime I go for a second one, my upper body won‘t go through the hoop because my elbows ‚crash‘ against the hoop while holding onto my legs and I can‘t figure out how to change that. It doesn‘t look like you keep your elbows straight in the video or am I mistaken and that’s where I go wrong? Do you maybe have some advice for me? Hope you have a nice weekend!
I went to my first level 1 lyra class and even though the mats weren't always down and pretty much nobody could hold a front (or back) balance, the instructor pressed us on to this roll. She forgot the name of it. If it wasn't for your tips I would have gotten hurt. Thank you thank you!
Phuu that sounds scary. aI am so happy that you are ok and whole. Never feel stupid to tell your coach that you want a safety mat or that you don’t feel ready. Not every teacher thinks the same and is careful and builds up. You seem to have the right mind by noticing the missing safety mat and the positions required to attempt that move. 🥰Trust yourself! All the best on your journey. 🙌✨💖
I don't know what school you went you, but this skill in my opinion is not a level 1 skill at all! That's crazy that you were asked to do it for your first class!
@@angelinalu7414 I had to do beats, tornado spins, splitting under top bar inverted, then a straddle down the hoop to seat, arabesque, forward roll to knee drop, the list goes on. Luckily I had practiced and conditioned at home for several months prior and studied these videos. Otherwise I wouldn't have known. This roll requires timing that's above my level I know that much for sure.
Hi I understand your pain. That is one of the hard parts with rolls. You can try to wear many layers of cloth-as long as you don't get winded up in them but it is painful in the beginning. Normally it is try- recover some days-try again,... After a while it gets better.
Every time I try these, I end up scraping my arms so badly that I have to take time to let them heal before attempting again (even with sleeves!). Do you have any advice to help that?
If your hoop is taped you will get more scrapings - this is one thing. I did get bruises in the beginning but really- untaped hoop helped a lot.And train the trick. If you want, you can send me a video (Instagram, Facbook ) and I can see if there is something you can change.
you are an excellent teacher - thank you!
Thank you
