Your reading was so exactly what I am/ was going through. It did take me a long time to remove myself from this toxic relationship because it was coming from my own son. I am forgiving him and moving on to my own life without him. I really never wanted to believe it could be true but unfortunately it was. I had to see the truth and it was the most heartbreaking thing I have ever experienced. I had to take a hard look at myself and realize that I never wanted this so I had two choices stay stuck in this miserable life or free myself. I had to choose me or die a slow and lonely life. I have removed myself from him needless to say I made sure he had everything he needed to survive on his own and now it’s my turn to take care of myself. I'm confused. I thought that until he could apologize and tell me he felt bad for being dishonest about what we were. I don't feel like I deserved to be misled in this way. In the end it mentally caused me to not trust my own judgment. I needed to walk away...But there was such a strong pull towards him.. it took me 13yrs. To understand what this was.
