Driving Rome, GA: From The Historic "Between The Rivers" To The New "River District" Along W 3rd St

Located between the Oostanaula and the Etowah River, you will find the Historic "Between The Rivers" District. This charming neighborhood features beautiful Victorian architecture of numerous historic residential and commercial structures and sits in the shadow of Rome's landmark, the City Clocktower, which has kept watch over Rome since 1872. Then, take a drive across the Oostanaula, down West Third Street and you will find the area known as "The River District" which is currently undergoing a makeover, where there will be significant changes in the coming years. There are plans for a River District streetscape that will be a pedestrian-friendly design while at the same time adding over 150 new parking spaces to the West Third Street and North Fifth Avenue area. There are also plans for an events plaza, food hall, residential housing, offices and retail space, all in this area.
