The headless lover of three... An unspeakable affair... The lady on the hill creates a glorious departure from her everyday life. Constant swelling of the ankles... A pleasant cry for help... She began to unfold her story. A grieving widow mothered this headless wonder. A perfect crime, that soon lived on. A different life it had to develop... Gripped by every limb it could hold, the lifeless ideas it grew onto it's own. A much needed surrender. Trees soon started to grow from what seemed a lifeless neck... From a monster to a beauty in quick months... Its life seemed to be on its way to a rare freedom. It decided it should take advantage of this idea (The average traveler hints at this every single day of their lives) A mixture of paintings soon took course in its body... A spectacle none-the-less. Walking proud through life letting its branches guide the way. A path which seemed to be covered in sunshine... It must be human, for its qualities seem to outdo even the grandest occupant of the town... This started to catch the attention of the unbranched... It had never experienced an affection of this kind... A wonderful and frightening new obstacle in its life. Years went by as it finally found true love... The love of others... three to be exact. Letting them into every secret... feeding from every branch... (This went on with no negative scents 'til the 5th year came around...) It noticed its walking seemed more staggered than normal. The breeze didn't flow like it used to... The heart seemed to pound slower and slower... What caused this? It soon was noticed that these three had torn every branch, every single stem... Torn to its last life... How hadn't it noticed a drastic change in the surroundings... It didn't think anything could go this wrong. "Comfort..." It thought life was constant happiness if constant happiness was all that was given out. (If left its entire existence up to these three lovers) Hints and all, they did as they pleased... And now it's starting to wilt away. (They will see this LOST PERFECTION. It will come back around... will the newborn live to tell this story? Rewind.)
I definitely love these remasters. I've listened to both The Great Misdirect's original recording and its remastered version, and I generally prefer the remaster. Everything just sounds a little more separate and clear. But one of the main things that always impresses me and stands out is how much clearer the bass comes through on these. Dan Briggs is just nanners good on the bass. Everyone in this band are god-tier musicians, obviously, but hearing all their parts just a little more clearly is such a treat. Especially the heavily "notey" Colors. There's a LOT to unpack and appreciate with this album, and the remaster helps everything stand out just a little better. This album, being originally recorded (or at least released) in 2007, was in need of a remaster for sure. I'm so glad that this has been made available on UA-cam and I'm beyond stoked that I can now just listen to a "cleaner" version of this album whenever I want. This is the album that started it all for me, like most BTBAM fans I'm sure, and it is just the biggest highlight at the end of this rollercoaster of a year. Thank you guys
I prefer the original version of Alaska to the remaster but all the others are amazing. I just like the punchy guitars in the original Alaska recordings. Especially Autodidact 🤘🏼
@@MayfWasHere yeah but I’m pretty sure Prequel to the sequel ties in to the Parallax story a little. Swim To The Moon does as well but not the entire Great Misdirect album.
Not gonna lie, not hearing as much of a difference in this remaster as others. Bass and keys come through a little better, which is great. All good though, gives me an excuse to buy this album again.

I dont understand those lyrics... maybe its because my english isnt that good... im from germany 😄
@@basse.r It is a very lyrical depiction of a woman being killed by her three lovers.
@@LicoriceLain ok, thank you!

Favorite BTBAM song hands down. There's only two songs that I've tried to learn on bass that I just CANNOT learn, this one and YYZ. Long live BTBAM!!!
Thank you for posting this!!🤘🖤
Long live BTBAM
this album is a prog metal staple i saw these guys live at prog nation with dream theater and opeth
Sounds like a killer show. I'm about to go see em in Detroit in March
Postcore modern metal grind shoegaze prog metal titanium alloy*
same that was years ago, what a good show. i seen them 2 days in a row back to back in NYC.
Folks... we finally got the sequel. (Colors II)
I thought the Sequel was The Parallax albums. But the sequel to Colors rules!
@teeple1877 Nah The Parallax 1 and 2 are sequels to The Great Misdirect
@@teeple1877 It's a joke based on the name of the song and albums.
The Colors aren't concept albums like the parallax, Coma ecliptic, or automata.

@@alexschuster1618 I realized it was a joke. Just being dumb. Tho the song does tie into the Parallax story a little.
those guitars interplaying the same melody is so perfect in the intro. Not a metal fan so can only really say that's the part I like the best of this.
Favorite band dropping a Christmas present early? As if the new album recording announcement wasn’t enough. You guys rule!
I thoughts life was constant happiness
How about “Prequel to the Squeakquel”, and it’s a nightcore version of this track?
Awesome!!!!!

There's more clarity between the instruments and it's not as muddled, but at the same time 'bigger' so to say. The drums have more kick as well.
Holy Fuck!!!!!!
GOPHER!
