Man, this song gives me the feels. I found this channel in 2017, about a year after this song was posted. It's taken me through a lot of highs and lows, especially through my last two years of high school. It's my favorite song, period. I can't put it on a loop constantly, or put it in every single playlist but listening to it does everything music should. I remember walking through the halls of my high school on my last days, or as I stayed up late studying for finals, or driving home from after school activities, or about a girl that I was in love with, or the highs and lows of life whenever I hear this song in my playlist. It's just so beautiful and sometimes it makes me miss how young it makes me feel, even though I'm still pretty young as of this comment. I don't know who or why I wrote this comment, but I guess I just wanted to put something wholesome and see if anyone else will see it. Maybe I just wanted people to know how much of an effect music can have on people, even when there aren't any lyrics.
Happy to share this amazing Post-Rock track by "Overhead, The Albatross" from their debut album "Learning To Growl" (May 13, 2016). Don't forget to check the rest of this album on Bandcamp: goo.gl/mnGYu9 Also recommended tracks: Daeku, Indie Rose, Big River Man, Telekinetic Forest Guard.
She stood out in the rain, waiting under a black umbrella. The street wasn’t busy, but wasn’t full. Just enough people were there for the rain to collect on. The paint on the steel bench wouldn’t last long after a week of rain, and absent thought washed away with the rain. A thick, dark strand of hair slid in front of her, blocking the picturesque view of the street. She sighs and neglects to refresh the view. Simply getting up and walking down the quiet, grey street. She heads to a park, wet and gray with rain; in full view of her pond. Ducking under a shelter, she sets her umbrella down, leaning against a cold stone wall, watching ripples break the surface.
Oh wow, it's been so long since I've listened to post rock. Now I'm getting flashbacks from a band called Maybeshewill that I used to listen to all the time. (Words for Arabella was my favorite piece by them) Definitely going to check out the rest of this album! Thank you for uploading, you really made my day.
Hey there, I was following a train of recomendation by the youtube feed started with the Lostreak Chicken and arriving at this video I saw your comment. To this day, I still listen to that song when I'm down, so thank you, kind stranger.
I haven't stopped listening to this song since I downloaded it my God it is beautiful. Relaxing yet chaotic(I use this word in the best sense possible.) and motivating. It makes believe that there is still love in this world especially with all the bullshit happening in the world today.
I wish this kind of music was popular, or at least a little more popular. Music like this sounds so amazing and beautiful, it deserves so much more attention. That's just my opinion though.
This song makes me forget about life for a few blissful minutes. But it always brings up a question about my future: How will I get to where I see myself to be when I close my eyes? A house by the water, a second moon shining in the water's reflection, a pleasant, contented smile on my face as a significant other comes out of the house and a large dog sleeps soundly in the veranda corner. I hope this will become more than just a dream
"What have you been doing with yourself, child?" The tone was one of shock, high and with an almost insinuating lilt that Tara didn't like the sound of. She kept her eyes away from Marie's face, instead studying the cover of a badly printed magazine. "I been around," she said coolly, as if it didn't matter anyways. Marie shook her aged head and kept putting items in the bag. "Been around with those ruffians, that much I do know," she said. "Breaks my heart to see it, truly Tara...why, it seems like last week you were a little child, hangin on to your daddy's hand and looking round with those innocent eyes I loved so much..." Overcome with sudden anger, Tara slammed down the money on the counter with more noise than was necessary. "Yeah, well dad's dead and I'm not a child anymore," she snapped. The lady's eyes slowly filled with tears as she gazed at the girl. Thick chain jewelry hung over Tara's revealing shirt and her arms were blemished with myriad tattoos. Her jeans were too small, and too ripped besides. Yet Marie wasn't seeing that. Instead, she saw a little girl, years younger, with long, unruly, dark hair about her face and a pretty yellow dress. "You deserve better than this, Tara," she said gently. She laid her hand on Tara's, looking into her eyes with mingled hope and deep sadness. "You're a fine girl, more than you know. You deserve better than this life." A fine girl? Her? Now, standing out here waiting for the rain to stop, Tara had time to think. Marie's words seemed to reach some hidden place deep inside Tara. Deserving better than this? What else WAS there? Nothing more, really...not for someone like her. She'd done too much. She was garbage. Everybody knew it. Was it what she wanted? Grinding out a loose, immoral existence on the dregs of society. Getting high with the gang, getting sick at the club, getting in trouble with the law. She thought she was happy. She wasn't so sure anymore. Tara glanced at her reflection in the misty window. Too much makeup, but it couldn't hide the lines in her face, the dullness in her eyes. Whatever Marie saw in her, Tara couldn't see it. The rain slowed to a restless drizzle, and then to a fine mist. Tara glanced up and gave a sigh. She stepped out from under the shelter of the awning and made her way back home. "What have I been doing with myself?"
I've been wondering for a while. Between people that make poems out of songs and people who make us laugh, we're all here for a reason : we like what this guy posts. So because I'm fairly new, what's your favorite music he ever posted. ?
"Forever" by Tracey Chattaway. Now _that_ one, I listened to back when it was posted on November last year. Nothing has been able to top it for me so far, though a few have come close including this one, "Bara".
Whoa, probably the first time I've ever heard "Post Rock." Really cool, didn't know there was a genre title for this kind of music. Will look into more of this kind. My ears and mind thank you for this spectacular piece you've composed. Keep doing what you're doing. You're definitely doin' something right. d-(n . n)-b -two thumbs up from me
That art is tantalising... And so's the music. With this as my inspiration, I think I'll have another go at writing a poem (I ain't great). Here goes: *Even as her life falls,* *she hides her pain.* *Missed calls,* *and days of rain.* *Cold meals,* *and little zeal;* *That is how she goes about her days,* *With little intention to change her ways.* *A cracked wall.* *Stairs most unwelcoming.* *An empty living hall.* *Many a broken thing.* *Dim lights;* *This is her home,* *and one of many plights,* *in a life she hates to roam.* *Bara is her name.* *and the only thing she can adore,* *for it is all of herself she can claim,* *and nothing more.* I wrote it inspired by the picture and the music which gives me sort of a "life is depressing" kind of vibe. Hope you like it. I don't usually do this kinda poem thing. :)
constant, submit, a will, to describe, might as well, write it all, forgotten is those, that lost their souls, for wars, that wasn't theirs to fend for, tears, for those they cry, genuine tears of lost, commotion, creation of vibrations, can feel the ground shake, it's all on stake, yet, we yearn for what we truly can't make, love, it's everywhere in all those empty spaces, the connection between us all, you and I, through it all, can never fall....
everyone is wondering about bara and none bothered to take a look at the description (it's the name of the woman who lent them the piano.if you are too lazy the description)
Sakura stood under the shelter, keeping out of the rain. She was waiting. She wasn't sure what it was that she was waiting for, but Sakura knew that it was important. Sakura watched as the rain continued to fall from the bleak sky. She was tired of everything. She had been waiting for so long that she wasn't sure if anything would happen. Once the rain stopped she would go home, eat, sleep, and then in the morning she would go back to her job and continue to wait. A car drove past at a stupidly high speed and soaked her. Sakura wanted to shout at the driver but he was long gone. Sakura continued to wait in the rain for something that she wasn't sure would ever appear. Yet she continued to wait for that one thing to make her life worth the wait.
and then, she saw Sasuke embracing Karin in the corner of the street, she realized her life was a huge mess from the beginning so she screamed a last SHANNAAAROOOO!...and died so sorry!!!!XD I couldn't help it...
You should understand that this is an irish band, in dictionary this word translates as "barrow". Anyways, I may be wrong, since there isn't much information about it.
I know what it means in Swedish, I'm Swedish myself ^^ Hejsan svejsan. Also I kinda figured that it's not the "bara" I'm thinking about since it would be kinda weird to name a beautiful song after... that kind of thing. I should've been more clear that I meant in the Japanese language but whatever xD
Hi Blu Rain! We named the song after a woman in the Czech Republic who lent us a piano while we were there writing the album. It was only recently we discovered its other meaning!
when you actually think on it, it's crazy how such simple chords can build an entire world inside your imagination...
cwopre true

Same feels bro, you're not alone.
Just found it now, but I hope in the future I feel the same as you
This isn't any piece, Overhead the Albatross manages to do it so well...

Deserves the title of the most beautiful music ever!

I have some of this stuff on my channel, Wherepostrockdwells, 9eCn3, and Worldhaspostrock have a lot of this stuff if you are interested.
What's the meaning of light without darkness? The sky is most beautiful after a storm
Haha. The art really is fantastic though. The bright glass pane contrasts the rainy mood and their coexistence gives it a great feeling
I forgot that I adjusted the speed to 1.5 on a documentary before watching this, and--
It sounds pretty damn cool.
Yes! I tried listening with 1.5 and It's so cool!
It will be more better when you will be hearing it by earphones.
So very beautiful. Thank you once again!
hope everyone's safe and inside and comfortable even with all the chaos and tragedy in the world.
calling from 2020: this comment aged well
@@paperboy1116 oh my god
It's funny because it seems like a COVID comment but it's actually four years old. It's like he/she predicted the future about staying at home
This is poetry. The most beautiful, raw form of poetry to ever exist.
:O it came back!! I really loved this piece and when It was private I was sad but I'm really glad its back!
This music makes me come alive. Wonderful!
perfect illustration with rain animation and fitting music, nice

I don't know about a second moon (you'd need some very serious $$$ for that, and even then...), but the rest seems pretty doable.

I love this song so much
Nice music + 8 min. Awesome combo

wow this was great I was reading this along with the music and it gave such a beautiful imagination of this imagery in motion. Great job!
Thank you so much. That's great to hear. :)

i'm curious how do they animate the rain on a still image?
That is the same question I have. I wonder what software the artist used to make that effect specifically.

Post rock is life
Love it!
"Bara" is my most beautiful music too 😏 No but seriously, I really like this song
This song reminds me of the motorcycle ride scene in Zankyou no Terror
Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air 🎶 are they Pink Floyd fans or am I just too obsessed and need help?
Fantastic technique
bruh ... this is beautiful :(
wow!! amazing
this song saves me
Post-rock is pretty fucking dank mates.
All this stuff is so inspiring for me and my art. And by "all this stuff" I mean basically everything you upload. ;v; Don't stop man, don't stop.
Dude....I fckin loved this...

Whoa... this escalated quickly
can anyone tell me how to make rain animated into still image like that? please?
This reminds me so much of ‘first breath after coma’
They are both two beautiful post rock songs, if you like them then that's probably going to be the right genre for you ^_^
This feels like recent upload though it was posted in 2016
is it just me or does this piece pic up like stairway to heaven
bara...
Well, not the most beautiful ever :D but definitely huge!!! ;)

Personally I think Telekinetic Forest Guard is the best song on Learning to Growl
Why does this track remind me so much of InFamous Second Son? I dunno why. XD
d+
good video, one question, how you do effect the rain?
"Bara" mean outside also in arabic
Think I’m gonna write something
Can anyone tell me the instrument at 1:10?
It sounds like electric guitar
Aw rlly? I was hoping it was some exotic acoustic instrument. I'm training my ear to be able to tell these things.
Idk I'm just assuming xd
When you write a story and alanize every single sound of envery sigle song you chose to put into it becomes easier I guess xD
Ok today's english is just so bad, sorry hahaha
☺🙃🖖
What instruments were used in this?
Piano, drums, and electric guitar with various different tones, some strings of some sort.
Lindo gostei bem isso mesmo quando chove na cidade grande olhamos para o céu e essa musica combinou 100% gostei muito mesmo!
hehe
"Bara" ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°
Bara as in the Indian bara? food?
+Nan Sitcom nope
bara as in yaoi ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°
+Susa Levi I see what you did there¤♡¤
🇧🇷 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
Heh... Does anyone even know what "bara" means..? xD
It depends but it can also mean "alone" or "only" in Swedish.
You better stopped thinking about this kind of bara :P.

Hi Blu Rain!
We named the song after a woman in the Czech Republic who lent us a piano while we were there writing the album. It was only recently we discovered its other meaning!
