4:06 Big thumbs up!! Thank you for the fuse tip. TR101 seemingly has better caps so its no wonder most of them still work today. Shame that they still go bad.

I have the CCDTR200E steady shot cam. Still works, I play a tape and use the camera once a month to help it keep going.

I like the features on this Handycam. The mic direction feature and the steadycam feature pretty good for the time it was made.

That's not mic direction it us remote sensor direction. Presumably for when the camera was sitting on the TV to view the recordings you didn't have to point the camera to the direction where you were controlling it from.

I have the same camera model and work’s completely fine but was wondering why there would be like some sort of whirring sound playing whenever playing a tape or recording. It even picks up on the mic as well.

Great video. I just picked up the same camera from a yard sale for $2. Owner assumed it was busted, but after a quick battery charge the thing powered up just fine.
I am facing an issue with the tape deck constantly ejecting when there's a tape in it. Otherwise, the deck will close and lower just fine with no tape inserted. Any advice?

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  4 місяці тому

When you load a tape do you hear the head drum spin up? Does it sound normal or fast? Could be dirty contacts on edge connectors. The capstan motor also rotates briefly before the tape loads. If the motor can't spin up it won't load. When there is no tape inserted then it doesn't attempt to test the motor rotation because the end sensors are uncovered and it knows there is no tape. It does this because if the capstan motor wasn't turning and the tape loaded it wouldn't be able to unload the tape and an eaten tape would result.

I just bought a CCD-TRV75 made in 1998 that is completely dead. Doesn't power on from the battery or power adapter. Could it be the switch or probably a blown fuse or other damaged component? It has the design where the switch is near the lens and not by the record button.

What's the likelihood of repairing a lens mechanism? I've got a DCRPC 100 and the lens moves freely inside also no picture

      Probably not worth fixing.

I have a question to the handycam pope. I got exactly the same one like here. My fuses are just perfect but theres no power to eject a cassette or to see a picture. The lcd on the side works just like all the buttons around. Im at my very end. It looks Pretty good like that one but I can't fix it

    I have Sony DCR-DVD202E
Why it is working on the AC charger (without the battery) and while I put the new battery on and disconnect the charger it doesn't work. Also I always charged the batteries while connected to the camera, not by separate charger. While I charge this new battery, which is not original, it seems to charge it because the yellow-orange light is on, but after a few minutes it starts blinking and it seems that it will blink forever, nothing happens. Battery seems not charging this way. I have original batteries NP-FP50 but they are old, camera dont work on them. Years ago i charged them with the original Sony AC-L25B charger which I have and it seems works good.
I have noticed the difference between the old battery and new one, that the older one while in charge, the light starts blinking after a few seconds, maybe a minute, not any longer. The new one which i bought few days ago starts blinkig after a minutes, maybe 10 or longer so its strange. I need help. Camera works very good while on AC charge but there is this problem which I can't find any solutions on the internet. What is maybe also important that i didn't used this camera in years. Battery (older one) was attached to the camera. The electric battery contacts are clean also.

Sony cameras communicated with battery. Not original Sony battery. Sorry Charlie it won't work.

@@12voltvids Ok maybe no-name batteries doesn't work, maybe some are good. But why original is not charging? It should even a little and if it's so old it should be funcional for even a minute or two and then be dead. Best thing is that I can't find shit on the internet to solve the problem. There is no such info, found similiar problem in similiar cameras but can't do shit with it... Sure, I can buy new battery and bounce off the wall if another one won't work. Who wants to use some old gear when there is new and all is made fancy new every 6 months-1year to be functional for 2 years maybe and then goes to the bin.

@@Bartosz10000here is the thing with lithium batteries. If they are left connected to the device they will over discharge. Once they get below the critical low level voltage (which the device would have long shut down) there is a most built into the cell which will turn off. Once it's off its off. Cell is shot. No amount of charging will bring it back. It's a safety feature built-in because charging a cell that is over discharge can be extremely dangerous the cell could explode basically. Once they have shut off they have shut off. I have 20 year old lithium packs that still work perfect because I do not store on the equipment and charge them up from time to time.

@12voltvids So that's the thing. Thanks.
So there is a chance that they sold me a old battery. The one which I bought few days ago. Or it's not communicating with the camera because there is no InfoLithium logo etc. on it. Maybe one of this or both. I wrote a message to this seller and I'll wait what is they answer about this. Maybe they will send another one to me to check or they can kiss my ass and I will search for another one 😀
So I have made a mistake not using the camera in years, the battery was just attached to the camera and never used later. Now I have to struggle.

Same old problem, crap caps and fuses.
Restricting the pcb lift by making the ribbon direct.
Well it's not bad for a 4 million year old camera :-D

I think Sony did that in this case not because they wanted to make it difficult to service but more for to try and get the boards closer together for size. When you put a connector on with a header it just takes a couple more millimeters of space and they were trying to sandwich those two boards extremely close together. It was a stupid design though because in the field if you had to change a board now you have to change two boards or if you damage that flex cable that you had a real fun time attaching a new one. FedEx camera I work on will be when you guys are going to like him pretty sure it's an evw300 which was the highest and High camera ever made by anyone. When you see it you will understand. It's a three chip large metal magnesium body eng camera. I wish I had kept mine but I sold it. I wish I had kept it because well that's the camera that caused me all the headaches with eBay and PayPal at least 20 years ago now. I had switched my production studio completely to digital using mini DV. So it wasn't being used and I figured it would just deteriorate so I put it up for sale. I got zero bites nobody wanted the camera. So I thought I would get clever and I listed it as a Canon lens and it was a good lens that was on the camera I think it was an F 1.3 something like that but it was a bright lens but it was a half inch lens which means it works with half inch CCD cameras. When I advertised it on eBay I advertised it with the correct model number for the lens and it was very specific it said for half inch cameras included in the deal is a free fully functional evw300. I listed like that because nobody was interested in buying a professional High aid camera so I advertised it as a lens with a free camera. The dork that bought it didn't read the part about the lens being for half inch cameras. He wanted to use the lens on his 2/3 inch camera and of course you know what's going to happen if you're going to have dark corners because the lenses projecting an image on a half inch sensor not a 2/3 inch sensor. The guy wanted his money back and I said no all sales were final it's not my problem that you're an idiot and you didn't read the ad but I'm not taking it back. The SOB filed a chargeback and after a year of fighting with eBay and PayPal they refunded his money he kept the camera. eBay sent me the name of a collection company that for a fee would help me retrieve my camera the problem is the fee that they were going to charge me was more than I got for the camera when I sold it. That was the last time I sold anything on eBay. eBay's response and PayPals was that I had to treat this the same as a retailer would treat shoplifting and consider it a cost of doing business. easy for a multimillion dollar company to say something like that when it's not costing them anything but I lost a couple thousand dollars on that sale and that was a lot of money. I should have just kept the camera and put it on display. It could be sitting right up there next to my JVC professional DV camera and my betacam.
