My heroes of pianism are predominantly great introverts of the past - Gilels, Gould, Michelangeli… She’s definitely in the other camp, her pianism seems to be very uplifted, theatrical and expressive, but damn, what a great sound, what an amazing tone, what a rich dynamic range she’s got! I have some of her concert recordings, and such a pity never had a chance to listen to her live, she’s just brilliant! It is understandable why Richter valued her playing highly and said good words about her.
This is a stellar performance in every way. This pianist should be much more “known” imo.
