  • “Once I moved about like the wind. Now I surrender to you and that is all,”
These words are attributed to Geronimo (1829 - 1909) when he surrendered on September 4, 1886, he was the last Native American leader to formally surrender to the U.S. military. He spent the last 23 years of his life as a prisoner of war.
He's a little song imspired by his words.
Seems to me the whole world moves in circles
Seasons of the sun & mortal clay
Each leaf has its morning & its evening
Green turns gold and nothing gold can stay
Comes a time for standing in the sunset
Poets call the dying of the light
We recall the springtime of our journey
Singing to the dark encroaching night
    Chorus:
I was the wind - when I was free
I was the wind - the wind was me
I was the Earth - the sky - the sea
I was the wind - when I was free
In our prime the time seems never-ending
Time flies by but we have time to burn
Never thinking as that time we’re spending
Each day is a point of no return
Time & tide glide by in one direction
Etching out our story in the glass
That we see each day in our reflection
Of our life and how it came to pass
    Cho
Each day lived in hope is never wasted
Hope paints dreams that one day we’ll recall
When the fruits of life have all been tasted
We’ll remember days we had it all
Stars that shine above the sleeping forest
Weep for broken dreams that lie below
    Witness to the everlasting cycle
Moving from the springtime to the snow
    Chorus
