After shooting this, I realized that the old outlet "was" turned around. My mistake in saying otherwise. Other than that everything else is correct. Thanks.

Thank you!! Didn't know why I couldn't get the switch working. Didn't know about the break. If it's not broken, the switch doesn't work👍

What happens if you don't break the jumper i installed two of these switched outlets and didn't have no problems. I use the top and bottom for my monitor and computer. Now im curious if breaking the jumper helps divide the voltage each oulet gives and not shares it between both.

Oh, and upside down looks odd but would be handy for identifying switched outlet the first time around, but after that you know where it is and not really necessary.

If you don't break the jumper, the top and bottom outlets will remain hot all the time and the switch will not turn the power off and on

Looks goofy upside down ...if you do it that way to indicate a switched outlet ok...but the half that isn't switched is still upside down?! How do you identify which half is switched?

My idea would be to wire the switched part to the top of the outlet so that when it is flipped around the switched side would be down and out of the way of any other item you would want to plug into. I would think it would be convenient to not have to go under a lamp cord to plug up your phone charger.
